This listing is a combination booking of two separately licensed short-term rentals located within one building—ideal for family reunions and multi-generational stays.

Each home has its own entrance, kitchen, and living areas. When booked together, they provide 8 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms total.

This combined listing simply streamlines the booking process for guests seeking both permitted homes at once. Each unit remains fully compliant under its individual City of Encinitas STR permit.

This newly remodeled, professionally decorated beach home is a perfect resting spot for families wanting a close walk to the beach as well as walking distance to trendy shops and restaurants on the 101 and even the 'Coaster' (train that runs up and down the California Coast) is just a short walk away. For those with cars, we are ideally situated on the coast. To the north is legoland (15 min) Disneyland (50 min) and to the south is Seaworld (20 min) San Diego Zoo (25 min) Balboa Park (25 min) and Old Town (20 min) and Downtown San Diego (25 min) The home is a duplex, but rented as a single property so you get the benefit of 2 kitchens and ample area for dining and lounging. There are 4 bed, 3 bath upstairs and 4 bad 5 baths downstairs.
Moonlight Beach Place offers groups the ultimate flexibility with ample room with privacy. The property is a duplex although it's rented with both units together. With this setup, you get double kitchens, dining rooms and living area. It's ultimate for 2 or more families or a family reunion.
Moonlight Beach Place offers newly paint, carpet, bed linens and mattresses. Be one of the first to experience this great getaway. Best Family Beach Vacation

Our family has been spending a week in a California beach house every summer for decades, from Newport to Mission Beach and several places in between. Our stay at this property was our all-time favorite! It's in a great neighborhood, a short walk to the beach, clean and well kept, with plenty of rooms and bathrooms. The kitchens are well stocked and everything works well, including the all important air conditioning! The owner is amazing! Very kind and easy to work with, responsive to anything that may come up. We hope to come back many times in the future!

50th Anniversary Celebration

This property was perfect for our party. The location was great, the beach provided hours of entertainment, and the town was close and very walkable. Everyone of our guests was extremely happy with the place. The nice, big, well equipped kitchen was the center of lots of great meals.

Wonderful Duplex Set up for organized large group

We had a few friends in town for a race and made a weekend out of it. Comfortably fit the entire group and felt like 1 space with 2 distinct areas if anyone needed to take some time to themselves. Really recommend it.

Family Trip

The property was exactly what we needed. We ran into a couple of issues with the dishwasher and the entry codes but the owner was very responsive. The owner is very kind and engaging. Highly recommend it. The address is a bit confusing as it isn't on the street in the address but in the cross street.

Most everything was as expected and advertised. We did have trouble getting one of the TV's to work and locate the channels. The 0wners came over to help but it was still too difficult to figure out with the 4 different controllers and the unusually TV service as well as the older TV. Also later on the upper level stove from was coming off and had to duct tape it back on to keep from falling open. Also the downstairs stove did not work. The parking was good for a busy beach area with lots of parking needed for the beach. Had to ask for more bath towels and paper towels.

Beach vacation

This is a great location for a large family. Walking distance to the beach and downtown areas. Only reason for overall 4 stars is the lack of some kitchen items-only 1 set of hot mitts for the 2 kitchens and no dish towels that we could find. Also, the knives are horrible and there aren't many coffee cups. Otherwise fantastic and many beach amenities are provided-kids' sand buckets, boogie board, chairs, and beach towels.

Great Family House

We had a great time at this duplex. We go on an annual family vacation and need a large space to accommodate our large group of adults and children (ranging from infant to 7 years old). It is really difficult to find a place big enough, but this place delivered. All the adults had their own bedroom and bathroom and even the kids had their own rooms. There were also toys and wagons for the kids to use and it made traveling to much easier. It was a close walk to the beach (even with 8 kids) and we walked to 2 separate playgrounds the kids loved. I would definitely recommend for large families looking for kid friendly accommodations!

Incredible Vacation Rental!

We had the best time staying in this home. The location cannot be beat! You are so close to the beach as well as our favorite places to eat on the 101. We walked everywhere! The home itself is perfect for families. We had kids at all ages and it was so nice to have the bunk rooms as well as plenty of bedrooms for couples. Loved that we had two family rooms as well-kids could watch a movie in one, adults in the other! The home has two fabulous patios that were basically added living spaces-we loved it out there. Tons of towels, two wagons, and beach toys as well. None of us wanted to leave. Rebecca was wonderful to work with and we can’t wait to book again!

2023 Family Reunion

House, inside and out, was spacious, clean, and reasonably equipped. The enclosed yard was perfect for family entertaining. The kitchen, although spacious, was lacking in some essential tools, such as a cutting board. The bedrooms were very nice. The one exception was the upstairs master bedroom, which did not have a bathroom door! Common areas were very comfortable and easily accommodated all of us. The location was perfect! All in all, this is a very comfortable and convenient house for large groups. The owner was very responsive and very nice!

Amazing property!

I rented this for my wife's 50th birthday weekend. The property is awesome, the location and surrounding area is great and it all helped make for the very best weekend possible. The property manager was accessible immediately for any questions or concerns. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and cooking supplies. Appliances and bbq grill all worked fine. The ladies all really liked that they had their own bathrooms. It was a great place for our kids ranging 6-13. Good amount of parking available for all the families. I cannot specify enough how much we all loved staying at this property. It is the PERFECT place for a family and/or friends gathering.

Love the beach

Overall great stay with a good amount of space. Our rental included both floors. Upstairs - larger master, twin bunk room, queen room with en-suite, queen “pass through room” The pass-through room give you access to the backyard which is shared. Downstairs has smaller master, 4 twins bunk room with en-suite, one queen with en-suite and another queen bedroom. Very nice bathroom to bedroom set ups. Laundry both up and down. Both kitchens were well stocked. Parking for 4-5 cars. The big win to this property is the beach and all the goodies available to use. The beach is a short walk (even with babies) and the house provides wagons, towels, toys, small boards etc. we didn’t need to add a thing to enjoy our time at the beach. When we reached out to the owner with a concern it was handled immediately even when it was out of owners control.

Great location. Well furnished. Would highly recommend if wanting to stay in Encinitas.

The booking was exactly what we thought we were getting. Really enjoyed getting to stay here with plenty of beds so the whole party slept comfortably. The place was mostly clean when we got there. The beach is a 5 minute walk away so it is very well located.

We are passionate members of the vacation rental community and love to share our homes as we stay in other's homes all over the world. We have met many families and have enjoyed welcoming many repeat guests back to our properties as hosts.

Why they chose this property

We were so fortunate to buy a rare coastal property by Moonlight Beach. They hardly ever come on the market and there are so few homes near our family's favorite beach. This property is a duplex with the top unit, The Flat having 4 bed/3 bath and the lower unit, The Terrace having 4 bed/5 baths. It has great flexibility for large family gatherings in both units. When our family stays in one of the units, we still welcome guests in the other although we prefer to offer it as a whole to guests.

What makes this property unique

This is one of the few properties located in walking distance of Moonlight Beach (3 min). It has the flexibility to sleep up to 20 people. It's also a great property where a car is not needed. Moonlight beach is a local's favorite with everything you would expect from a Southern California Beach including beach rentals, snack bars, clean modern bathrooms, showers, Playground area and world famous sand volleyball. All just a short 2 block 3 min. walk away. We also have great parking with the property which is rare at the beach.
