Historic Limestone Estate in the Tallgrass Prairie
One of the most unique properties in the region, StoneHouse was originally the farmstead of Sam Kimble, one of the early settlers to the Manhattan area. Respectfully restored, this 1860’s-era limestone estate features unsurpassed elegance in its amenities, while celebrating the heritage of its past by leaving many of the original elements exposed, including field-milled rafters, hand-hewn timbers, ancient limestone walls, and wide-plank wood floors with their original square-head nails. With a farmhouse-inspired kitchen, dynamic great room, luxury bathrooms with deep-soaker tubs, and lush courtyard with saltwater hot tub, this is a dream destination full of frontier charm. Perfect for friend or family getaways, business retreats, or small events, StoneHouse is highly versatile, intentionally intimate, unusually private, and thoroughly welcoming.

This place is beautiful! The hosts are wonderful and easy to work with. The responses to any questions were prompt. I can not tell you how much we loved this place.
Perfect Getaway with Country Charm and Modern Comfort!
We had a wonderful stay at this home while our oldest daughter attended cheer camp and tryouts at K-State. The property was even better than described—beautifully decorated with a perfect mix of luxury and country charm. It felt welcoming and peaceful from the moment we arrived. We especially enjoyed the nearby trails, the lake with kayaks, and the hot tub—such a fun and relaxing way to explore a new side of Manhattan. The home had everything we needed and more. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

We stayed at the Historic Limestone Estate near K-State to celebrate our daughter’s graduation, and it was perfect for our family gathering. The rustic limestone home is truly unique - full of history and charm. We had plenty of space to be together as well as spread out. Next time, maybe we'll have more time to explore the grounds and soak in the hot tub.
Beck, Kail, and their team did an amazing job! The real Christmas tree decorated with fresh cranberries and dried oranges was a heartwarming touch for the holidays.
If you’re looking for a unique historic home near K-State that’s perfect for making memories as a family, this place is it. We’re so grateful we found it and would absolutely stay again.
Whether it’s to celebrate a milestone or simply have a weekend getaway, the StoneHouse will not disappoint! You can’t help but to feel inspired in this home; to curl up in one of the fine furnishings and read, prepare dinner in a perfectly equipped, gourmet kitchen, and/or enjoy some outdoor time in the open barn patio or on the back trail. This home is impeccably decorated, maintained, and doesn’t spare on details that provide the best stay possible for guests.
This was an amazing property to stay at and so interesting in many details of the refurbishment. Word to the wise, this property is in NO WAY handicap accessible and you should be able to walk steadily on surfaces that are not entirely level and easily climb multiple stairs with luggage. Consider taking a headlamp to aid in lighting for evening check-ins.
Our youngest son’s wedding was at Blue Vista. We did a lot of driving back & forth. We did not get to enjoy the amenities that came with your beautiful property. However, we plan to stay here again so that we can enjoy all that your property has to offer. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
This home and the yard were beautiful. We were having a family reunion and needed a place for out of town guests to stay and congregate. The patio and pond area were perfect. The kitchen appliances and space were great for cooking in. We spent most of our time outdoors. It even sprinkled off and on and we were fine. Ample tables and chairs along with the firepit, Jacuzzi, lights sounds the yard and access to outdoor restroom and sound system made it a perfect afternoon and evening.
Gorgeous, fully renovated 19th century farm house. Great rural setting on outskirts of Manhattan with nature and trails on site. If everyone in your group can handle the steep, narrow stairs inside the home and outside on the property, this listing is a 5 star gem! Seriously though, this property is not for anyone with mobility issues. One of our favorite finds in the past 10 years! Owners are awesome and have great communication.
This is one of the most luxurious and beautiful getaways I’ve ever experienced.
Staying here was one of the highlights of my year! With the nature trail out back, luxury kitchen, hot tub, bath tubs and fire pits with wood already stocked you cannot find a more welcoming place. The check in and check out was seamless and the host was some of the nicest people!
This property is a rare gem. My family stayed for only a couple of nights, and we wish we could have stayed longer (or just moved in). The house is so cozy and relaxing, and we enjoyed exploring the trails. Absolutely beautiful!
My extended family (4 couples, 10 people total) had an amazing weekend at the Stone House. The property is beautifully appointed and immaculately maintained with high-end finishes. We found the property to be exactly as advertised, very clean, and we'll definitely be back!
Really nice property that looked old but was nice and new on the inside. It was a perfect spot to get away for a few days but still very close to town. It’s also very unique - we loved it.
We stayed with two other couples for A weekend getaway. The house is absolutely stunning! We all loved it and plan to make it a yearly event! Becky and Kyle were wonderful to work with. The house is equipped with everything you could possibly need. Don’t hesitate to stay at Stonehouse! It is perfect!
We fell in love with the tallgrass prairie when we each came to Manhattan to attend Kansas State University. We have made the Flint Hills our home ever since — and, for nearly fifteen years, Prairiewood our labor of love. Having raised our three children here amidst the abundance of these surroundings, we continue to be compelled by this special place.
Why they chose this property
While located just two miles from the west side of Manhattan, there is a feeling of being a million miles away. The prairie has a subtle yet profound beauty that tends to calm our nerves and inspire our dreams. We always feel refreshed after spending time there, whether walking the trails or drinking a glass of wine on the patio.
What makes this property unique
For countless ages, the Flint Hills have sustained life, as an inland sea, as grazing and hunting grounds teeming with bison, and as agricultural land that feeds millions. Envisioned with the purpose of continuing this legacy of connection to life-giving land, Prairiewood is nestled amongst over 400 private acres set aside specifically as a tallgrass prairie preserve. Located just a mile west of Manhattan, Kansas, Prairiewood offers first-class accommodations, event space, and community programs, all thoughtfully assembled to create a truly one-of-a-kind experience. Whether an individual or couple looking for a place to rest and renew, family or friends seeking an inspiring retreat, a bride-to-be planning her perfect day, or a board of directors requiring a state-of-the-art meeting room, Prairiewood won’t disappoint. We invite you to come see how the rare privacy, unparalleled service, and stunning beauty of this special place will exceed your highest expectations.
