The house was perfect! Everything was very clean, they left small amenities like shampoo, soap, bottled water. It was located in a great area next to lots of restaurants. We had a great time and would definitely rent this house again!
The apartment is lovely. The furnishings are excellent quality and the gardens on site are beautiful. The AC was stretched thin due to the outdoor temps but San Diego cools in the evening and simply opening the windows to cool the place off worked well. The kitchen is well stocked if you choose to cook. The neighborhood is quiet yet close to Balboa Park and restaurants.
hosts were very good about communicating, the property was well equipped and nicely appointed. The neighborhood was quiet and close to everything we needed. We were two friends visiting San Diego and the place suited us.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and enjoyed taking walks around the neighborhood. Balboa Park and an interesting suspension walking bridge are close by.
This is perfect place to stay in San Diego. Great location and quiet neighborhood! It was very clean and so pretty!

Lovely group- would highly recommend to other hosts.
This is a beautifully decorated house in a wonderful and walkable neighborhood. The carriage house has all the amenities and we found lots of great restaurants within a few blocks. The historic nature of the neighborhood and the proximity to Balboa Park are added benefits.

Lovely Stay
My husband and I spent a week in the upper Carriage House apartment. It was a perfect spot, beautifully decorated, comfortable and quiet. The neighborhood is wonderful, nice restaurants in walking distance and Balboa Park just a few blocks away. The owners checked in to be sure all was well. We happily recommend the Carriage House for a peaceful San Diego visit.

Great Location!
We really enjoyed staying at the Carriage House and especially enjoyed the proximity to everything. The house was very comfortable and cozy and decorated very nicely. The house looked exactly like the pictures which was nice. We felt very comfortable in the house and enjoyed walking to restaurants, Balboa Park and pretty much everywhere. I would definitely recommend this house to my family and friends. I can't wait to come back!

Perfect Spot
We rented the upstairs floor of the Carriage House as two runners in the 2018 Rock N Roll marathon. The space was truly outstanding - even better than advertised in the reviews. Clean, quiet, very well-appointed, great amenities and Don was a terrific host (super-responsive to questions and always willing to help). The location in Bankers Hill was perfect for our purposes (right near the marathon start), and is a great central location for accessing the city and all that it has to offer. Will plan to come back again. Thanks Don

An enjoyable stay in San Diego
We vacationed in San Diego and stayed at this property for 5 days with our 2 preschool age children. The property has been recently renovated and the interior is professionally decorated. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed as we cooked a few meals at home. The location was ideal for the activities we had planned. We visited Sea World, Petco Park, several downtown museums and restaurants and all were less than a 15 minute drive. There are a lot of restaurant options and grocery stores nearby. Not to mention the owners Laura and Don were very accommodating and personable. When we vacation in San Diego again, we will definitely stay here! Thank you for making out stay an enjoyable one!

Spring break in San Diego
My family stayed here for almost a week during Spring Break. We had a great time. The Carriage House is very nicely furnished and comfortable. The owners were very friendly and accomodating. The location is great. It's on a quiet street in a nice neighborhood close to Balboa Park. We like to cook and my only complaint is the kitchen could have been a little better equipped. Sharper knives and a serrated bread knife would have been nice. But that's a minor complaint. Overall, this was a lovely place to stay and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

Perfect location!
This is a beautiful property that is comfortable and attractively decorated. The living area is comfortable and inviting. The bedrooms, while small, are perfectly adequate for a stay of a few days. The beds are comfortable.
Although parking is not provided, there is parking on the street.
The neighborhood is quiet, except for the signature San Diego airport noise.
The property is very well maintained, demonstrating that the owner takes pride in the property. We were even greeted when we arrived by the owner and given a helpful tour.
On top of all that, the location is excellent. We were within walking distance of Balboa Park and we made the most of that. Visiting the zoo and museums in the park was convienent and enjoyable.

Great guests and would love to host again. They were respectful of the property and the surrounding neighborhood. Lovely family!!!
The carriage house is in a great location on Bankers Hill. The rental appears to have been great at one time but was not as clean as expected. There was mold in the showers, and heating unit. The refrigerator and stove were left dirty. The host sent someone in to clean and they did ok on the stove and refrigerator. If the home gets a deep clean to restore what appears to have been there once, it would be a 5 star rental again.

Fantastic stay!
My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights and were very pleased with our visit to the carriage house. There is plenty of street parking and it is in walking distance to several restaurants and bars. The Hillcrest neighborhood is just a few blocks away as well as Balboa park. The Spruce Street suspension bridge is also just a few blocks away. It is centrally located to the highway and everything was within a 20 minute drive. The carriage house itself is beautiful. The decorations and accommodations were all very well thought out. There is lots of storage in the bathroom and both bedrooms. We had everything we needed and felt right at home. There is a cute balcony, air conditioning and heat, extra blankets and pillows, an ironing board, etc. We couldn't have wished for a better place to spend our time in San Diego.

Great Stay! Really Lovely Little Place
This is a really nice little place. Don and Laura are fantastic hosts: very thoughtful and very quick to respond to texts.
The living room, dining room, and bedrooms are all very nicely decorated and comfortable, including the beds. Each bedroom has a closet with lots of hangers, an extra blanket, suitcase stand, portable heater, and a portable fan, and each bedroom has a chest of drawers. Because this place is relatively newly renovated, almost everything in it is also new and in pristine shape. The balcony adds to the charm of the living room as do the nearby trees.
The bathroom is all new, with a modern design. Toiletries are provided. Lots of extra towels.
The kitchen is cute and has fancy modern appliances (including a dishwasher). The pots and pans are high quality and have clear lids--really good choices. Definitely a cut above what we usually find at VRBOs. Although I usually cook a lot while on vacation, I did not do that this time. So it is hard for me to fully evaluate the kitchen. I did notice some missing items, such as measuring cups and spoons (there is one 2 cup pyrex measuring cup, but nothing smaller), serving and mixing bowls, potato masher, spatulas (the kind for flipping pancakes or stakes as well as the kind for scraping out bowls) oven mitts, placemats, tablecloth, etc. In general, I'm guessing the kitchen equipment could use a thoughtful inspection by a cook. It did have some things that one cannot always count on, such as wooden spoons and a blender.
All this said, there are many wonderful restaurants nearby, including even several vegan restaurants in walking distance, so there will be a lot of temptation, even for good cooks, to eat out. The apartment is also in walking distance of Balboa park and also a little canyon with a walking trail (a couple blocks south).
If you are very sensitive to noise, then the fan in the downstairs apartment might bug you, as it is pretty loud. (Not sure if it is a ceiling fan or a bathroom fan.) It's loudest in one of the two bedrooms and audible in most of the rest of the apartment. That said, it is just a fan noise, and for some people that will actually make is *easier* to sleep.
The apartment is on the second floor of the rear building. The stairs do not have a good railing for people who truly depend on such support. If that is you, I'd choose the downstairs apartment, which is probably just as nice.

Wonderful guests. Respected the property and surrounding neighbors and left all spotless. Would highly recommend to other hosts and welcome back anytime.
The property is clean, and I found the courtyard to be inviting and relaxing with the plants, trees, humming birds, and fountain. The parking was an issue most all times of morning, day, and evening. We would loop many times and sometimes find parking on the same street but sometimes have to park around the block. The biggest improvement I would suggest are better mattresses and pillows. The beds are HARD and there are basically 3 pillows per each of 2 bedrooms. Most of the pillows were completely flat. We only cooked once while staying and could have used a couple utencils in kitchen but the kitchen is actually supplied quite well. Since we mostly used the location to sleep I wish our sleep had been more comfortable. Oh and there is one AC unit so we used the many fans the owner supplied to cool down. We kept curtains closed during day and that seemed to help. We are used to central AC so this was different for us. However, we really did enjoy our stay at this location. It's location is great for getting to most any major attraction.
This is an incredibly cute Spanish style carriage house in Banker’s Hill, and the vibe of both the place and neighborhood are top notch. Everything was spot on for our stay!
I was nervous since this was my first time and I will say it was so effortless . This home was so warm and homey I enjoyed my time spent there. I wouldn’t hesitate booking this home again!
Enjoyed the stay. Quaint, clean and classy place. Felt very safe in that part of town.
Felt the bedrooms could have been a bit warmer as my visit was in December and they were/are a ways from the central heater/furnace.
