Meaford Country Home

Really cozy country feel, in the town of Meaford.

End of a dead end street. HUGE back yard. Fire pit. Forested hill. You have peace and privacy, but can walk down town.

Georgian Bay, hiking, restaurants, and culture all close by.

The Space
Originally built as a barn, converted to home in the 1940's. Completely updated, but maintains old charm. 2 full bathrooms, washer and dryer, BBQ, stereo.

Outdoor fire pit with 10 Adirondack chairs. Bring your own wood.

All bedrooms on top floor.
2 bedrooms with queen beds,
1 bedroom with 3 single beds.

Laundry in basement where there is plenty of room for storage.

Close to Meaford

Charming older house, nicely renovated. Worked very well for our family. Very clean and comfortable. Kitchen was very well stocked - appliances, pots, pans, dishes, etc. The beds were very comfortable!

Great family vacation!

We all really enjoyed our stay! We had a family of 7 and all felt very comfortable! House was well stocked with pots pans and the essentials when we arrived! The bedrooms were very comfortable and clean, very well kept. Air conditioning units in two bedrooms on top floor which is great after a long day! However when cooking a big meal with oven on main floor it can get warm:) Backyard was very spacious and had lots of seating and a wonderful deck where we ate most of our meals! Very close to Meaford downtown and beach and was in a nice neighbourhood. Definitely would stay again!

Nice rental

Old yet very cozy cottage at the end of a quiet street. Perfect for a nice relaxing vacation which is exactly what I needed. Huge yard for the puppy to run around in.

Gem in the forest

A whole lot of charm, clean and well stocked. Location was ideal, quiet and close to the Big Head river. Plenty of towels for our family. We would certainly consider staying here again.

Beautiful family cottage with huge garden, minutes to town

I stayed here with my dog who loved the huge garden and freedom to run off leash. The cottage itself has everything you could possibly need. Eric made the process of booking really easy and I would highly recommend

Easy access to Meaford/Thornbury activities

Charming older house, nicely renovated. Worked very well for our family of five adults. Very clean and comfortable. Kitchen was very well stocked — appliances, pots, pans, dishes, etc. Lovely secluded lot with fire pit.

Great walking areas close by

The house is cozy and old with updated kitchen and bathrooms. There is a big grassy area to enjoy in the back. The house is on a quiet street without through traffic. The walk to town is short.

Perfect Retreat

For something so close to everything you could need you feel like you're miles away from the world. Everything we forgot to pack we could find. The property was secluded and peaceful. My kid and dog had an amazing time on the property and I hope to book it again. Clean and peaceful. Highly recommend

Meaford Loves Georgian Bay

Fun with great adventure. Clean home. Comfy beds with great bedding. Pet loving with all kinds to explore. Hiking trails everywhere in walking distance and close too by car. Memorial Park Beach 6 min drive for all to enjoy with pooch. Meaford Public Beach 5 min walking distance. Everything all in one place. Just bring yourselves and have a blast. Thank you Eric for renting out your lovely home. :)

Looks are deceiving

While this quaint cottage boasts many nice features such as the sizeable kitchen and outdoor area, closer inspection on the condition of the home leaves a lot to be desired. From the moment we checked in the home had a very musty smell and felt very damp. Closer inspection revealed some serious moisture and mold issues in the downstairs bathroom. Even the furniture in the living room felt and smelt musty and damp. A dehumidifier and some mold removal are a must. Sitting outside on the back patio was nice, but you do need a great amount of strength the open the back door. We also couldn’t leave the door open as the storm door had holes in the screen and with the many mosquitoes around they would have filled the house. The air conditioner for the upstairs bedroom was appreciated, but it does drip onto the deck below, careful where you sit. The general cleanliness of the place was good. The beds were comfy and linens were fresh, but like I said closer inspection revealed there is a little more going on with this property that needs some attention. We were glad our stay was only two nights.

Family Gathering

We had a great time, visiting with family that live in the area. The house easily accommodated our grandchildren and our pet. The neighbourhood is quiet and adjacent to a lovely forest.

Fantastic stay

What a great place! Very convenient location with a 5 minute walk to a little river and maybe a 15 minute walk to downtown Meaford. The back yard is huge and the fire pit was a great perk! We didn’t get the chance to use the back patio and bbq but everything was just really nice. The kitchen was fully stocked and must have been recently renovated because it all looked so new. Very very clean

Peaceful vacation

The house is located in a nice, quiet and friendly neighborhood. I really enjoy the big backyard with lots of trees. The kitchen had everything we needed. It had 3 good size bedrooms. I really liked the one with the 3 single bedrooms. The whole house was very neat and clean. I think the deck needs some update. Unfortunately we had our nice vacation cut short by some terrible news we received. Carolina L

Great Cottage & Location

We had the best time. The backyard is huge. My dogs loved it! The fit pit was amazing too. You are really close to the water but have the privacy of a property surrounded by trees. The little town was so cute! We went out to pub, had vegan ice cream, went to the beach, drove to neighbouring towns for more activities. It was the best. Everything you need is on site. Cooking ware, laundry and shower. We loved it! Thank you for having us.

Great location cute place

Our family (spouse and two adult children) planned on doing some hiking in the blue mountain and Wiarton region and this place was a great in between. It was very clean, had all the necessities of home (minus a lighter for night time fires - but we left ours behind for the next visitors) and had a beautiful backyard that our dog loved playing frisbee in.

Our family getaway at Meaford

We had a wonderful time at the cottage which was v welcoming and we had an enjoyable stay. The place had all the conveniences we needed and was extremely clean. The backyard opened onto a serene lot so perfect for a getaway. Kudos to Eric for an excellent stay.

Why they chose this property

The property is my second home, in the area I grew up in, and plan on returning to.

What makes this property unique

Location location location - huge property with tons of privacy, yet in town. There is a forested hill, a large yard for a soccer game, and a great place for a fire (10 chairs). Also, Meaford is a great quiet town, yet close to Georgian Bay and lots of recreation and tourist activities.
