Myself and 4 adult children stayed for a week at Look Down, MT. The home was very clean and had everything we needed . Very comfortable for all of us and the VIEWS from EVERY window are breath taking. We are from upstate N.Y.and loved all of Montana.

We love Montana too. So glad you could visit and enjoy this special home.
The house & property were more than we expected. It was the perfect place for our party of 8, plus a dog. The sleeping arrangements couldn't have worked out any better; the roominess of the house helped with not feeling like we were on top of each other; roomy kitchen; amazing views from the deck; ending the day with a dip in the hot tub; and the experience of being on top of a mountain with a sense no one around you.

Thank you for the review! We are glad that you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for choosing Mountain Home Vacation Rentals. We hope to see you again very soon and would love to help plan your next trip!
Everything was great, other than all the towels were put away damp prior to our arrival, so we needed to dry them in order to use them/ prevent them from smelling. There were mouse traps throughout the property, which is understandable due to the location, but would have been nice to be aware of beforehand.
The house is beautiful. The view of the mountains is gorgeous. The windy, dirt road up and down the mountain is scary. It is narrow with no type of guard rails to protect from the sheer drop-off at several points. At the very least, rent a 4-wheel drive vehicle. Our car rental did not offer 4-wheel drive vechicles.
Great views and lots of space for our family of 4. Takes about 10 minutes to get up the mountain from the highway and no problem in an AWD vehicle, even in the rain. Look for wildlife on the drive, we even saw a bear! Few issues such as no bath soap provided, coffee pot that did not work, and fireplace that would not start. Also, there was a problem with the water (we had one day essentially without water), but the management company was very responsive and sent someone out with a new coffee maker and soap the next day and determined the water issue was a running toilet that was draining the well. Fireplace could not be fixed during out stay, but we did not miss is much. Water was adequate by the 3rd day but we didn't dare use the bathtubs. Spa and sauna worked great and a nice perk. Internet worked well. Great location to go to Yellowstone, rafting, hiking, ziplines, and shopping. I'd stay at the property again in a heartbeat!
This updated cabin on top of the mountain is what dreams are made of. Every (new) window has a picture perfect view and all have blinds that roll up out of the way or down for almost a blackout.
Deck to grill! New hot tub! Huge bathtubs. Sauna! Woods for wandering. Decent beds. Bring your own pillows as theirs aren’t great. Bring shampoo/ conditioner because at least two showers didn’t have them.
Few things were broken (twin bed when we sat a wheel broke off, rocking chair leg wasn’t attached, ice maker doesn’t work so bring ice and when we went to get water the lever snapped. Older fridge but worked) be careful getting out of the tubs. They are so tall I (on the shorter side) slipped and got quite the bruise.
Ride is steep and one way in one way out got blocked by a train for 40 mins so don’t be a hurry to go anywhere.
For a relaxing get away this was just amazing!

We want to express our gratitude for choosing to stay at Look Down. Your thoughtful care and feedback of the property has not gone unnoticed, and we sincerely hope you consider us for your upcoming visits to Montana. Thank you!
We had a great stay for a couple of weeks. This was a great base camp for Yellowstone and Glacier. It’s located just outside of Bozeman making access to town 20-25 mins. While it looks and feels like you’re in the middle of no where you’re actually not. The house is big and we had a large group and never felt on top of each other. The views are amazing and you can hike the 10 acres of the property. The property mgmt. company is very responsive and addressed any small issues the same day. There is also many things to do in the Bozeman and Livingston areas if you’re not doing any parks. The house includes everything you need to cook any kind of meal and most of the beds are comfortable. The pool, sauna, and jacuzzi add to the relaxing atmosphere you maybe looking for.

Underwhelmed!
Arrived, and was told that cleaning had not been completed to their usual high standards due to getting involved in other issues. Pet were hairs visible on the carpet (causing our grandson sneezing bouts) - we vacuumed.
Then, told by a gentleman sent by the owners (his words), that the entire pool water needed to be changed, asked if that would be done there and then, we were told, it would not be done until after our vacation. The water was cloudy and we were unable to use it for the entire duration.
In the master bedroom, there was an awful, and offensive smell. Our daughter and partner stayed in there - they tried burning scented candles but the stench just got stronger. Therefore, on day 3 I called the maintenance guys - a very pleasant chap came out and after eventually finding a rodent trap behind the toilet, he removed it outside, and proceeded to open it up. Not one, but two dead mice - one still formed, and the second a rotting carcass - clearly the offending smell!
Sadly, when I reported this, it wasn't treated with any urgency - when I asked for an update, offence was taken and told, I was being "Passive Aggressive" not the kind of communication I expected from a professional outfit.
Six days after returning home, I received a message from the owner, essentially blaming the third party for the offensive odour and their neglect at not checking (removing the rodent traps), of which there were seven scattered around the home. Again a third party was blamed for the pool. And, in fairness, a refund of just over $400.00 was paid. The owner did offer to discuss (by telephone) further our disappointment, something I happily agreed to, yet over ten days after the owner reached
out - not another word of communication, which is disappointing.
Finally, there is little doubt, that 'Lookdown' is a wonderful home and in the most beautiful location. Sadly, we were left underwhelmed with these issues that took the edge off our stay. I'm sure the owner will try and justify their actions - I guess that is the advantage they have in controlling comments made without further recourse.
On behalf of my family, and myself, we thank you for the use of your home.
Time, time again I had to edit my review to conform, how sad!

It was clean and decently stocked for a long stay. It was very hot so the a/c could have been better. We saw deer and moose almost daily and a coyote once. The road there is all gravel so travel by car was a little difficult. The yard could use mowing as well.
Beautiful location. The views were fabulous. Quiet mountain sleeping. Heard elk bugal every night.

Disappointed
The photographs of this property show a nice yard. Since we travel with two small dogs this seamed ideal. We arrived to a yard that was waist high and I’m 5’4, I took photos. The first step to get to the front door was too high and the handrail is very wobbly. The house was very hot as there are large windows on the west side. There was a note on the air conditioning thermostat that said “do not set below 74 or the unit will freeze up”. The temperature in the house was 76 at the time we arrived. It did not go down until the wee hours of the morning. Even with the windows open in the bedroom it was very uncomfortable. If you have an issue with your unit freezing up, it needs repair or replacement. It’s not the fault of the tenant, fix it. The deck outside had a large hole in the first deck board as you step out the sliding glass door a small child or dog could step through it and get seriously hurt. The handrail to the deck was also very loose and should not be leaned on. I was an insurance adjuster for 20+ years, I see several liability issues with the deck, front porch and yard. Now let’s talk about the road up the mountain with signs that say “extremely dangerous road”. This is not a road but a goat trail. Even with all wheel drive this road is dangerous, curves you can’t see around, high grass to obstruct your view around corners, drop offs, rough gravel ruts. Hold on for you will be in for a rough ride.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear you had such a frustrating experience, we really appreciate you bringing these issues to our attention. We are addressing these issues and hope to resolve it promptly and accurately.
This property is amazing!! We had the best time just sitting on the deck and enjoying the peaceful sounds of nature. I would add one additional tip though...get a rental above the economy level. Lol our little Toyota Corolla made it but I wasn't too sure it would 😂

Thank you for staying with us. We are happy to hear that Look Down worked well for your stay. We hope you choose Mountain Home Vacation Rentals for your next Montana vacation.
Everything was wonderful with the exception of the mouse poop found in the living room and dining room and the sound of the (assumed) mice in the walls.
