Checking in and out was a breeze! Instructions were perfect. Communications with property manager was great! The house was beautifully situated among the trees with incredible mountain views! The deer were plentiful and seemed so comfortable grazing where we could watch. It snowed the day we arrived and then some more the following day. It was STUNNING and such a treat! Highly recommend this sweet little cottage! Thank you for the cozy place with incredible views to catch up with my girlfriends and enjoy some quality time together!

It sounds like the snowfall and wildlife made your girls’ trip extra special! We’re also happy to hear communication and check-in were easy. We’d love to host you again anytime! ~ Mountain Home Vacation Rentals
Everything about the cottage was wonderful. The host was excellent with communication. I'm not sure who showed up to shovel the snow off the porch and out of the driveway but it was very appreciated! The deer that walked the property everyday were a treat too!

What a nice photo. Thank you for sharing! We hope you can visit again soon.
This is the third time we've rented this property! Quiet but not too far from town. A great deck to look out across the fields full of deer to a beautiful mountain view. Well supplied kitchen and comfortable accommodations.
Place is a dream. Insane location. Had deer visit us during our stay. Only knock is check in is 5pm and check pout is 10 am. Most places are 4pm/11am or 3pm/10am. Not a big deal, but was a surprised and through off our schedule the first day.
Wonderful property, wonderful location, wonderful views! We loved our stay! The cabin was very well stocked with necessities and so cute and felt like home. All of the windows left you catch all of the wonderful views and even some wildlife up close! We did day trips to Yellowstone, did the Grizzly Bear Encounter, Fairy Lake and the Bozeman Stampede. A wonderful family trip and we will definitely return.
We all absolutely LOVED this cozy cabin. Gorgeous property and views. Fantastic location that is not a far drive from downtown Bozeman and yet gives you the feel of seclusion. I can’t say enough about this place. Love everything about it. This is going to be our “go to” cabin whenever we come back to Bozeman.

Cozy and fun!
Very nice, clean and cozy property. In particular, we found the kitchen well equipped for a vacation rental. Great location. Close to town, but on the very edge of the woods. Best of both worlds. We will be back!

Quentin, we are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Sourdough Ranch Black Bear Cottage! We hope you got to see some wildlife! -Emily at Mountain Home
This is by far our favorite place to stay when we visit Bozeman. The location is very near some great hiking and we love watching the wildlife from the patio. This time we saw dozens of deer daily and two moose visited a couple of times as well. We like to cook and enjoyed making all of our meals in. The kitchen and pantry are nicely stocked. Perfect cabin for our small group!
The cottage is situated on a hillside looking out to the beautiful mountains surrounding Bozeman. It is in a pristine wooded canyon neighborhood very close to everything in town but away from the city. The house itself was cozy, the master bedroom view completely open to trees and woodlands. Good kitchen, living room and dining area. A great getaway location.
The property was as advertised. Very clean. Very private. Property roads were very well maintained/plowed during snow storms. The gate into the property is a bit temperamental, but once we learned to push # first before entering the code, it opened right away each time. We would definitely stay there again.
The view on this property was amazing! It was fully stocked and ready for our visit. Our three children each had an area in the upstairs to spread out. Both bathrooms are on the main level, which was not a big deal, but something to note.
Couldn't have dreamed up a better haven for rest and relaxation!
This little home exceeded all of my expectations; From the amenities to the scenery to my interactions with the host. I would literally travel to Montana again just to visit this place. I initially booked a week stay because my husband had a major sugery in the area and would need a place to recover. After having spent the week, we would be delighted to return just to spend more time here. So grateful!
The cabin was perfect for my wife and I! It’s located at the bottom of a mountain on a beautiful piece of land. It’s gated and secured and secluded. There’s a pretty little pond with lots of trout. It’s only about 15 minutes from downtown Bozeman. The beds were very comfortable, the whole cabin was very clean and comforting. We did get to see a couple of deer near the cabin right when we arrived. Wonderful hiking and explore very close. It’s definitely a place we will stay again!

A Lovely, Private Bozeman Hideaway
My husband, son, and I came to Bozeman (from California) in August 2015 as part of our college road trip to check out Montana State University. After staying in less then desirable hotels along the way, the Sourdough Ranch Black Bear Cottage was like coming home. It was beautiful inside and out, spotlessly clean, fully stocked with everything you could need, and just so comfortable. We loved the privacy and quiet of it as well - it felt like we were alone out in the woods despite being just a short drive from downtown Bozeman. We all loved sitting out on the deck in the evenings and mornings. My husband and I loved opening up all the windows in the downstairs bedroom at night and listening to an owl hunting and the wind in the trees - heaven. The boys also enjoyed fishing in the small pond on the property. Our son has been admitted to MSU so we will definitely be back to this cabin on our future visits to Bozeman.

Very Nice
We really enjoyed our stay here. Great linens and appliances, nice views. All the little considerations such as dish soap, zip locks, spices for cooking, wine glasses, even lip balm, and we loved the gas fireplace pit. I enjoyed the deer and turkeys outside the window almost anytime. Walked up Sourdough canyon from the house. It was beautiful spring weather when we arrived and then snow later in the same week.
The only thing that would have helped our stay would be hooks to hang jackets and clothing and such, in the foyer and the bedroom closets. We flyfish and needed places for all the gear. And perhaps a wine carafe - but we made do with the glass juice jug :-) . Great memories.

Hello "Anonymous" - We are thrilled that you had such a comfortable stay at Mountain Home's Sourdough Ranch. We agree that it's a super location in the mountains, but so close to town. It's sort of hard to believe how special it is. And thank you for the suggestion about hooks for gear in the entry way. We're on it! - Suzy @ Mountain Home Vacation Rentals

Problems with entry were previously known by property manager
It was most frustrating to to gain entry because of a malfunctioning entry lock. Once we were able to finally gain entry we had the dilemma of relocking on departure and the uncertainty of not knowing whether we could get back in. It seems my peace of mine deposit should be returned
On another note not having a tv in family room but in bedroom s prevent an inability to spend shared time with other couple wanting to watch news etc. Having two downstairs bathrooms for a upstairs bedroom is a severe case of functional obsolescence especially for older couples Great place other than that. Thanks

Need better house cleaners & response time from property mgr
Overall house is nice. A few issues: ants everywhere as a open container of sugar was left in the kitchen cupboard. Cobwebs in every room around ceiling and lights. Dried poop in toilets and the Master bath shower had a slow drain so very slippery and my elderly parents almost fell twice! Place has flashlights but no new batteries so didn’t work. Lastly, this home is in a natural preserve so they had a bag with bear spray in it…unfortunately it was all used up! So, we couldn’t go explore the beauty around us in case we encountered a bear! Most frustrating was the lack of response by the property manager. She never responded to my voicemail. I hope I can get my cleaning deposit back as I cleaned a lot during my “vacation”. I most likely won’t stay here again even though I have family in the area for another 2-3 years.
The views of the Bridger range and neighborhood deer walking through the yard were a highlight. And being able to walk to Sourdough canyon trail from the house was an added benefit.
The house itself is very solid, warm, and cozy. Others have mentioned that there is no TV in the living room but rather in the bedrooms. It was a little strange but we watched less TV, so that was a win. The kitchen has everything you'll need, except Tupperware, so grab some at the store if you need it. Lastly, the master bathroom sink was clogged the whole visit. Not wonderful. The house manager did come by and try to fix it by pouring hot water down the drain, but it didn't fix the problem at all. She came on Thanksgiving, by the way. I didn't want to bother her again so we lived with it.
I'd stay here again, the location and neighborhood are away from town but close enough if you want to do a yoga class, hit the restaurants, and shopping. Our favorite dinner place was Stacy's Old Faithful in Gallatin Gateway. The food was incredible and the atmosphere is true Montana.
