House is cozy and also bright, updated and spacious. Kitchen is generously well-stocked. We loved being so close to the nordic center. Hope to return. Thank you!
We had a wonderful stay in this Tahoe Donner cabin. The teens/kids loved the ping pong table and easy access to snow play on the deck and in the backyard. We went cross-country skiing twice, and family members could walk back to the cabin when they were done, which gave us a lot of flexibility. We also enjoyed the High Altitude Fitness climbing gym and sledding at Donner Summit SNO-Park. The cabin was really comfortable with everything we needed, and lots of extras (e.g., snow shoes, snowball makers, great selection of games). The owners were very responsive when we had questions before our trip. We hope to return for a future family vacation!
Beautiful home …everything as described in the listing, with many supplies included which precluded our buying them.
The owner was very responsive to our questions/concerns.
The house is spacious with room for everyone, 2 couples, 2 college age kids and 2 10 year olds. The Ping pong table was well used and all the kids hung out and slept in the upstairs loft and large room. The kitchen is well stocked and easy to prepare large meals with updated appliances. Living room sofas comfy and bedrooms excellent. Patricia is very responsive to any questions. We are returning for Christmas 2024! I liked the large windows looking out on the snowy meadow in the main part of the house. The pictures don’t do it justice on the website. It’s a gem!
We recently stayed and the house is large, nice sized kitchen with seating for larger families, also the loft with the ping pong table was a huge hit with our teen/preteen kids! We did a lot of fun activities around Lake Tahoe, Donner, Carson City and Virginia City, all within a 20-60 min drive from this location!
This is a beautiful home and very kid friendly. The kitchen and deck with BBQ were perfect for cooking and spending time with friends and family. The host was very communicative and we had no trouble understanding check in and out. Would stay here again!
Upstairs was awesome for kids to hang out, view from the back porch was great. Hiking and biking from the house was great. Supplies, and kitchen were awesome.
Thank you again for allowing us to use your house.
This house is very close to the Tahoe Donner ski resort. The kids room with many beds, as well as a pinpong table, were great for kids.
The driveway was steep and slippery with snow and ice, but there was no ice melt chemicals in the garage. so, it was not easy to pull up the cars to the road in the morning.
The dryer machine was out of order, but it was okay since wet towels from a laundry machine could be dried over the night.
Overall, we had a good experience in this house. Especially kids enjoyed. It’d be better if I could contact the property manager easily.
We had a great vacation despite the many challenges Mother Nature presented us with during 2022 Xmas week. Having the snow blower available in the garage was a game changer. The house is very spacious, everyone (10 people) had a comfy bed, plenty of towels and the kitchen was very well stocked, not only with pots/pans, cutlery and delve but so many other extras like spices and the basic necessities. The garage was spacious enough for our 2 vehicles which saved us a lot of digging out each day which was appreciated. Pat was prompt to reply and a pleasure to deal with.
The house is as lovely as the pictures. Plenty of room, beautiful view out the back windows of a snowy meadow. Dining table large enough for the 10 of us. We had a wonderful snowy Thanksgiving week.
We as two families had a blast staying in this updated cabin that offered some wonderful amenities and comforts for both of our families. The size of the cabin was perfect for all 12 of us and we used every ounce of space during our vacation. The cabin was very close to all needed and desired outlets for food, gas, fishing gear and licenses and even to the various outlets to begin driving to lake Tahoe. We had a blast fishing the Truckee River, hiking up from Fallen Leaf to the Angora lakes and then back down to Lilly lake and the waterfalls and then just relaxing on King's beach for the day. Time went by so quickly! We purchased all our food in Reno and brought it to the cabin and there was ample space for all that was needed along with cookware, some spices, serving ware and dining ware. The cabin was great! The only down side was that upon checking in, there were several spider webs that were in corners, under beds and on the walls and ceilings. We had to vacuum and use the broom to clean out these spider webs so that we felt more comfortable sleeping. There is a TV in the cabin, however for the a large group it is very small and somewhat in a weird space. Just was hard to view. Maybe the owners will put a large TV over the fire place for future guests. All in all, we would totally stay here again without question. Owners are very responsive, kind and very detailed in offering good instructions and information.
We stayed over Christmas and this was a great house for getting the extended family together. The house was spacious and well-stocked and we had everything we needed to cook meals for 10 people. Unfortunately we also happened to be there during the record-setting snowfall and were trapped with all roads closed and no power for multiple days. The house was stocked with candles and firewood and the owner was very communicative and gracious about encouraging us to stay as far beyond the end of our reservation as needed to make a safe departure (we ended up needing to stay 2 additional days).
Great location! We enjoy staying in the Tahoe Donner area! The property was exactly as advertised, spacious, clean and everything worked! Many amenities. Loved sitting on the deck enjoying o good book and a refreshment.
We had a great stay - the place was spacious and enjoyable, and the Tahoe-Donner community is perfect for a family vacation.
Pros:
- spacious place
- Pat, the host, is easy-going and a good communicator. Check in/out was seamless
- They had a pack 'n' play, high chair, and toys for our 16-month old. For those traveling with a young kid, these items are priceless.
- Place is nice! Open layout, plenty of beds, privacy, etc. There's a trail that touches the backyard that is great for short hikes with kids
Cons:
- It's a bit far up on the hill, more than we were used to. Of course, that's as advertised - just a bit longer drive than we expected
- No AC. Again, this is as advertised, but it's an important consideration given fire season. But not for fires, it's not a big deal because the temps cool down at night...but fire-season throws a wrench into everything!
Overall, we strongly recommend this place.
The layout was perfect for adults and teens. The large bedroom/family room upstairs with a ping pong table in the loft was a the perfect “get away” for teens! The large kitchen/dining/living made cooking and visiting easy and comfortable. Also, large windows open to a nice deck for relaxing and visiting.
We stayed at this awesome property for 1 week over July 4th. We were a group of 10, with 3 children under the age of 8. The house was clean, well ventilated, spacious and very well maintained. The kitchen was well stocked and the property owner very responsive by email.
The house was perfect for a large group with kids. We would highly recommend it and would stay here again!
We had such family vacation ! The house is beautiful and updated / roomy and perfect location ! The owner Pat was so helpful and just such a pleasant experience ! Thank you Pat for such great memories and hope to come back soon !!
This property is comfortable and well-appointed. We had everything we needed in this home with plenty of room for our group of 12. The best part for our family was all 8 grandchildren sleeping in the large room upstairs. These cousins really enjoy each other, so that room worked out great! Lots of great hiking in this neighborhood. We highly recommend this property!
This home was just perfect for our extended family vacation and everything about our stay here was easy and relaxing. Thank you for sharing this beautiful home with us.

About the host
Hosted by Pat Sheehan
The home was built and purchased by our family in 2002. We enjoy staying at our house in Truckee both with family and friends. Our extended family now has 6 children ages 8 to 18. It has been a wonderful home for both us as adults and for our children.
Why they chose this property
The Property is located on a green belt with easy access to the Tahoe Donner system of hiking and biking trails. Our children love to explore with us in the green belt area that includes a creek with beaver dams. We are located just a block away from the Tahoe Donner Adventure Center, and 1 mile or less to Trout Creek Recreation Center and the Downhill ski area.
What makes this property unique
The floor plan is particularly nice for families with children. There is a TV and DVD player both upstairs and downstairs. We didn't know how popular our Ping Pong table would be until we purchased it for our loft several years ago. There are some toys for young children. There is a book exchange for adults and children. Ok to keep a book with no exchange!
