About this property
MY FLORENCE HOME SANTA CROCE: the lovely oasis of calm away from the crowds
Welcome to “your” home, in the heart of Florence. Our apartment, just a few steps from the Duomo and the wonderful Piazza Santa Croce, is located in the historic Sant’Ambrogio district, one of the liveliest and most authentic areas of the city, where Florentines love to live. The narrow streets and small squares are full of: • traditional artisan workshops, • typical trattorias and osterias where you can enjoy local cuisine, • famous local food markets (the Sant’Ambrogio Market), • antique and vintage markets (the Mercatino delle Pulci). Within a short walk, you can easily reach the Duomo, Santa Croce, the Accademia Gallery, Ponte Vecchio, Piazza della Signoria, the Uffizi Gallery, Piazza Pitti, the Boboli Gardens, and the famous shopping streets such as Via Tornabuoni, Via della Vigna Nuova, and Via Calzaiuoli. Our 94-square-metre apartment has been completely renovated with high-quality finishes and is located on the first floor of a historic 15th-century building adjacent to the former home of Michelangelo Buonarroti. It is extremely quiet both during the day and at night, thanks to its large windows overlooking the charming internal courtyard: a green and fragrant oasis where you can relax or enjoy breakfast while listening to the sound of Santa Croce’s bells. The high ceilings with exposed wooden beams, the large windows, and the spacious rooms make the apartment bright and welcoming. The atmosphere is elegant, refined, and comfortable. The living area consists of a large open-plan space featuring: • a comfortable lounge area with two sofas, • a fireplace with a rocking chair, perfect for moments of pure relaxation, • a fully equipped kitchen with hob, refrigerator, freezer, oven, toaster, microwave, and a complete selection of dishes, cutlery, and cookware in various sizes, • a beautiful dining table with six comfortable seats, • a study corner filled with maps and brochures to help you discover Florence at its best. The living area also has a bathroom with a window and a shower. The double bedroom is a separate room from the large open-plan area, ensuring maximum comfort and privacy. Spacious, romantic, and elegant, it can accommodate two adults plus one child (with an additional bed or cot available). The bedroom has its own private bathroom with shower and a large French door opening onto the terrace. Available amenities: • air conditioning, • fibre Wi-Fi, • satellite smart TV, • Nintendo Wii, • washing machine, • drying rack, • microwave oven, • ironing board and iron, • hairdryer, • fully equipped kitchen, • bed linen and bathroom towels. For us, it is a great pleasure to personally welcome our guests, provide all the useful information about the city and the Sant’Ambrogio neighbourhood where the apartment is located, and recommend day trips outside Florence or unusual tours. Upon arrival, you will find a mini guide with our suggestions for experiencing Florence not just as a tourist, but as we live it every day — like true Florentines — together with maps and brochures. You will have our phone numbers, as well as other useful contacts for any need. We will be available 24 hours a day to respond quickly to your requests. HOUSE RULES My husband Stefano and I have put a great deal of passion and effort into making our home extremely comfortable and, above all, authentic. We have taken care of every detail to offer you an unforgettable stay in the heart of Florence. For a short period of time, our home will become your home, and we are sure that you will treat it with care and respect. By doing so, you will make not only us happy, but also the guests who will stay after you. During your stay, we kindly ask you to keep the spaces clean and tidy, avoid making excessive noise, and turn off lights and air conditioning whenever you are not at home. Check-in is available after 3:00 PM and check-out is required by 10:00 AM. Punctuality is greatly appreciated! Before checking out, please make sure that the refrigerator is empty, dispose of all rubbish, and leave the dishes clean. The rate includes all expenses for internet, electricity, gas, and water. Pets are not allowed. Smoking is strictly prohibited. A €200 security deposit is required through VRBO to cover any possible damage caused to the property. The deposit will be refunded by VRBO after your stay. For longer stays only (more than 15 days), the apartment will be cleaned every 15 days by a trusted housekeeper who has been working with our family for years. The cost is €12 per hour, plus €30 for the change of bed linen and towels. These costs are paid directly in cash to the housekeeper at the end of the service. We are sure you will appreciate this arrangement, as it will give you more time to dedicate to discovering the city. Since October 2014, the Municipality of Florence requires all guests to pay a City Tax of €6.00 per person per day, for a maximum of 7 days. Children up to 12 years old are exempt. The City Tax must be paid in cash at check-in. We will take care of paying the collected City Tax to the Municipality of Florence on a monthly basis. And now that the rules are covered, it is time for the surprises: when you arrive, you will find a thoughtful welcome gift waiting for you, along with useful information and suggestions to make your stay even more enjoyable. We look forward to welcoming you and making you feel at home.

My husband & I spent 14 nights at My Florence Home, first floor spacious apartment with a welcoming private patio, centrally located and within walking distance to all the sites. We were met by the host, who gave us a tour of the apartment and maps with local recommendations for dining and things to do, they also went out of their way and purchased tickets for us to tour Dante’s House Museum and ordered our taxi the day we checked out.I highly recommend this property, hosts and the quiet neighborhood of Sant Ambrogio. We are returning to My Florence Home in September 2027 for another Special Experience.
The hosts are terrific. Welcoming and a fountain of information about visiting the town and area. They have maps and other resources and great suggestions for dining at different levels of cost and food choices. Nice nooks for coffee etc. Florence can be overwhelming for first time visitors and they are a great choice to smooth things out. Even for those who have visited a number of times there are always new things and dimensions and it is wonderful to have their suggestions and insights. The apartment has everything you could want including AC.
We stayed there for one month. It was one of the best vacation rental we stayed. Perfectly equipped, super clean, fantastic location, only 15-20 min from everything. All the restaurants around are great. Stefano was extremely helpful, he had prepared a document to help us with some great restaurants and food store.
I’ll start by saying we are desperately trying to figure out how we can visit again…soon. Our stay could not have been more comfortable. Loredana and Stephano were so accommodating and provided insights that made our visit to Florence to be superlative. Their property was clean and spacious. They spent time upon arrival answering all our questions and making recommendations for restaurants and local culture. And finally they helped us with a smooth departure. So glad we stayed at their property… it was a memorable experience
The apartment was perfectly situated, just enough outside of the main tourist area that you felt as though you were part of the neighborhood, however close enough that you can walk to all of the attractions.
Spent a wonderful month in My Florence Home. Everything was perfect and exceeded our expectations. The hosts were wonderful, meeting us at the home on arrival with great suggestions and recommendations. The apartment is spotless, spacious, and equipped with everything. They’ve thought of every detail making for an easy and comfortable stay. The location is perfect. Close to the center but away from the crowds..Wonderful restaurants, pasticherria’s, grocery shopping and markets are all within a five minute walk.
Stefano and Loredana are excellent hosts! Stefano called a taxi for us, and we so appreciated that! The apartment is spacious, spotless, and well equipped! It is in a very convenient area!!We loved our 2 weeks there!!
We had a wonderful stay at "My Florence Home". We were greeted at the door by Stefano who helped us with our bags and took the time to tell about Florence sites and places of interest. Plus he provided an excellent bottle of wine. Amenities were excellent - the bed and pillows were very comfortable. Everything was walkable and the Oisteria just downstairs greeted us like family. Highly recommend.
Home away from home is truly the description of this beautifully furnished and comfortable apartment! The location is unbeatable - within easy walking distance of all the major sights and great restaurants. Stefano and Loredana are amazing hosts and offer great local recommendations. We can't wait to return!!

We loved everything about our stay at our apartment. It was very relaxing and we enjoyed all the suggestions that Stephano gave us during check in. He gave us a map of the city and so many great restaurants and sites to see. The bed was very comfortable and the outdoor patio was lovely.
Loredana's place is truly a haven to come back to, after a busy day exploring Florence. We had a wonderful time in Florence and staying close to all the amenities was definitely a plus. The apartment is very well situated to all the important touristy spots, taverns, pubs, and excellent food. I highly recommend Loredana's place for your trip to Florence.
Such a fabulous, big and well decorated place with a lot of Firenze charm! We received such a warm and exceptionnel welcome from Loredana-remember the taxi strike..- and followed the awesome advises from Stephano. Nothing could be more perfect! We will be back!Grazie mille!Suzanne and Robert
Wonderful trip to Florence. Staying in this Santa Croce home gave us a very comfortable space with plenty of room! Stefano, our host, was very helpful giving us tips on the area for museums, dining and shopping. We especially enjoyed the lesson on making an Italian coffee and the bright light from the central patio. We would love to return some day and enjoy this home again.
I appreciate the hospitality of our excellent host who provided a very helpful guide to the eateries in the neighborhood and started our stay with a starter collection of wine, beer, sparkling water and still water, and sent us off with a bag of biscotti! Love our stay and would highly recommend! There’s a flight of stairs going up the apartment that’s pretty dark, but it doesn’t take away from the pleasant stay.
This is the best VRBO we have stayed in. It's exactly as shown in the pictures. Stefano and Loredana are great to deal with. The location is perfect and the unit is spacious and comfortable.
We stayed a month at this wonderful apartment in a magnificent part of Florence. It was 10 minutes to the heart of the historic district but a family neighborhood with wonderful cafe’s, restaurants and friendly people. It was a wonderful place to stay and we totally enjoyed ourselves. Thank you to our hosts who were great to work with and provided wonderful recommendations. Beautiful city and we had a beautiful time.
The apartment was absolutely perfect for our 5 week stay in Florence. It is within walking distance to everything in the city, while providing peace and quiet to relax. Loredana and Stefano were the perfect hosts, and gave wonderful suggestions for things to do during our trip. I hope to stay at their apartment again in the future!

About the host
Hosted by Loredana Vigna
Since 1992 I am working as Operations Marketing Manager for the most important Italian Hotel Chain. I am married and I have a doughter. I love reading, traveling, watching movies and cooking. My passion is theater; I'm a perfectionist, I like to do things better. My motto is ' carpe diem'.
Why they chose this property
The apartment is located in one of Florence's most historical neghbourhoods, St. Ambrogio, one of the most typical and lively areas of the city. A lot of Florentines have lived here for generations, and for a reason: the area is full of markets, shops, workshops, nice typical restaurants and cafès, theaters and cinemas. During spring and summer a lot of outdoor concerts and entertainments can be found.
What makes this property unique
From the apartment everything is at walking distance, but there are many ways to get around in Florence, and bus stops heading different directions are just down the street (you will always find a train and bus map at home). If you're travelling by car, there's a special arrangment with a parking nearby, that we can book for you in advance. From the airport, if you're travelling with some heavy luggage, it might be easyer to get to My Florence Home by cab – Florence is a small city, the rates shouldn't be outrageous. From Central Train Station, Santa Maria Novella, you can choose to take a cab, bus n. 14 (“Via Verdi” stop), or choose to take an easy 15/20 min. walk to the apartment: if you have light luggage it might be worth the effort, since you'd be passing by the Duomo and other beautiful sights of the city.
