Superb air-conditioned character house with private heated pool ****

Discover this pretty house of character, independent, beautifully renovated welcoming 6 people + 1 baby, enjoying exceptional sunshine and a salt pool of 9m x 5m (it is heated, not overlooked, private, secure and pleasantly surrounded by flowers, from May to September.)

Our charming cottage is ideally placed with a very beautiful environment, calm without being isolated.
It is a lovely restored property with stone walls, surrounded by vineyards.

Ideal for visiting (lodging located between Bergerac and Saint Emilion) in the heart of the tourist sites of the most prestigious vineyards.
To do without hesitation:
- The country houses at Ste Foy la Grande, Pellegrue, Monségur, Monpazier, Sauveterre de Guyenne
- The castles: Duras, Monbazillac, Saint Emilion
- The prestigious vineyards: Montravel, Pécharmant, Côtes de Ste Foy la Grande, Côtes de Duras, Côtes de Castillon, Saint Emilion, Entre Deux Mers wines, Sauterne, Bergerac and Monbazillac wines.
- The famous Rabaska canoe ride (large family canoe) in Port Ste Foy and Ponchapt at 10.5 km, canoeing, rowing, fishing, swimming in summer, equestrian center, Tennis, Vigiers golf in Monbazillac castle.

We stayed in this lovely rural property during a heatwave……with temperatures in the 40s, the pool and AC (in the bedrooms) were more appreciated than we could have imagined. François is a fabulous host - managing to combine being attentive / helpful when required with being unobtrusive and always respectful of our privacy. The area is very tranquil and the property sits amongst the vines. A car is essential - although it would also be lovely to explore the area by bike. There are many beautiful and interesting towns, villages and chateaux within reach - and, when we could tear ourselves away from our base, we enjoyed visiting them and sampling the regional food. The local town of Pineuilh is about 10 minutes away and has all the essentials. We would highly recommend this property and hope to return for another visit.

If you are seeking a relaxing holiday don’t hesitate to reserve this cottage.Set in absolutely beautiful countryside and so quiet at night for a good nights sleep.A car is necessary to visit the numerous little villages and towns.There is a large hyper market a 5 minute drive away for all your supplies.It also has a restaurant as well as a small shopping mall.

Overall a very nice property and the hosts were lovely. Communication verbally was only in French, but it is France!. Neither of the toilets have wash hand basins in them meaning you have to use the kitchen sink downstairs on the bathrooms upstairs, not very hygienic as a result. Both of the toilets had poor seats. They were loose, moved around, came off the toilets when lifting the lids or seat and they dropped down on you when using them. The location was lovely and an easy 10 minute drive to local shops and supermarkets. Also the hosts own wine is very nice! The aircon in the bedrooms was a welcome reprieve from the heat. There were no plastic or similar glasses or plates for the pool area and also there were only very sharp knives for cutlery, not really suitable for children. Bring your own towels! We didn't however the host did bring us a bag full of towels to use but, this is the first time I've stayed anywhere in over 30 years of renting without any towels being provided.

Hello, Thank you for your review and comments, which we are taking into account. However, I’d like to clarify a few points. My wife was indeed away; she is bilingual. The toilet seats are in good condition, but they’re removable for cleaning, so they must have shifted during use. There are indeed two toilets: one upstairs on the landing and a second one on the ground floor. There are two bathrooms upstairs, so there’s no problem washing your hands; the same goes for the ground floor. Additionally, we do not provide towels, as indicated in the Abritel listing, but I provided you with 12 towels free of charge for your stay so that you would have everything you needed. We’ll make a note to provide plastic cutlery and blunt knives; thank you for this suggestion. Thank you for staying with us. Best regards, François

Perfect getaway

We had a wonderful time at this well kept property. Beautiful surroundings, the pool was excellent and our kids loved it. The hosts gave us a very warm welcome. Lovely towns nearby to visit. Would highly recommend!

We very much enjoyed our stay in this idyllic French property in the heart of the countryside. Very quiet and very secure with only the sound of the birds to distract you. An excellent rural location and perfect to explore this region of the SW of France.

A beautiful quiet piece of paradise

From when we arrived, the host was very welcoming and attentive, nothing was too much trouble. The Gite was absolutely what it said in the listings, quiet secluded but not isolated. A perfect place to relax, recharge and dip in to visits to Bordeaux, Lisbourne and Bergerac when you could drag yourself away from the pool!. I would highly recommend if travelling as a couple or family like we did, definitely will be visiting again a wonderful place.

Beautiful Gite

Beautiful Gite with exclusive use of heated pool. The lovely owners Laurie and Francois live next door and are there if needed but the Gite and pool are completely private. It is wellequipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. We are frequent visitors to the area. Gite is conveniently located to all amenities including a large supermarket. A great base for visiting lots of lovely places such as Duras and St Emillion. Definitely recommended for a romantic couple retreat or a family holiday.

Peace and tranquility in the countryside

What a lovely property, nicely presented and decorated, François and Laurie were lovely hosts. Beds were comfy and the A/C made the rooms so much more comfortable at night. The outside space/ garden was a nice place to spend the day The heating for the pool broke down, but François sorted it very quickly The area is very quiet, just what we needed for a relaxing holiday. Would I stay again or recommend, definitely, it was a great two weeks

Fantastic experience!

Beautiful well equipped cottage located in an area of vineyards. The outdoor pool and patio area is very private being fully enclosed by walls and is wonderful. Parking is in an enclosed courtyard so very secure. The owner lives in an adjoining property but it does not overlook the cottage - we never saw them but it is good to know they are close if you need them. We had a great time!

A Little Gem in the Countryside

The property was private, peaceful and well equipped. No traffic noise. The gite is enclosed in a small walled garden surrounded by vines. Swimming and reading around the pool proved to be a relaxing delight. Our hosts were always available for advice whilst never intrusive and as a couple, the gite suited our needs perfectly. There are plenty of small towns to visit along the Dordodgne including St Emilion and Bordeaux is only an hour away by car.

Peace and quiet to relax and restore

We had a really good holiday here - a break we so needed, with plenty of peace and tranquillity. Despite changeable weather we were able to enjoy the beautiful pool, and the terrace area is sheltered and warm with a variety of seating and shade when needed. We enjoyed eating virtually all our meals outside. We didn’t use the little garden, but it did look lovely and in hotter weather would have provided a cooler place to sit. The bed in our room was new and extremely comfortable and the en suite had a good strong hot shower. The kitchen area, though small, provided everything necessary. The local boulangerie/patisserie in Villeneuve-de-Duras was excellent and friendly - excellent croissants and pains au chocolat for breakfast, as well as good bread. Our hosts were extremely helpful and friendly, and quick to communicate, both before and during our stay. We would highly recommend this gîte.

un séjour magnifique

Nous avons passé une excellente semaine de vacances dans cette maison de campagne à la fois authentique et restaurée avec style. La maison est située dans un cadre rural idyllique, très calme et en même temps équipée de tout le confort (y compris une très bonne piscine). Notre hôte était très prévenant et attentif. Superb maison

Een heerlijk huis , van alle gemakken voorzien. Op een schitterende , rustige lokatie tussen de wijngaarden. Terras en zwembad (verwarmd!) volledig prive, met uitzicht over de velden. Heerlijk! Met max 45 minuten rijden zijn diverse bekende plaatsen en wijngaarden/chateaux te bezoeken. Grote supermarkt op 10 minuten rijden.

Au top!

Superbe séjour dans une belle région. Nous avons été très bien accueilli. Le propriétaire est super sympa et à l’écoute , hyper réactif en cas de besoin. La piscine chauffée est aussi un vrai atout. Tout cela dans une belle tranquillité et proche de toutes commodités. Nous recommandons cette location sans hésiter!

Bel endroit pour se reposer

Calme olympien au bord des vignes. Piscine très agréable et bien entretenue au centre d’un jardin très fleuri. Accueil très chaleureux. Nos hôtes ont été à l’écoute de nos besoins. Nous recommandons cet endroit .
