Welcome to C & G's Rocky Broad River Cabin - the longest 'family owned' rental property in Bat Cave. One step onto our back porch and you'll be "hooked"!!! Remodeled in 2010, the porch boasts over 300 sq. ft. of screened-in space which is a great extension of the living area of the cabin. Here, you can rest, relax, read, or even take a nap while listening to the river in complete "bug-free" comfort. Better yet, start your morning with breakfast on the porch; lunch and dinner work equally as well. There is seating for 6 at the table but with all this space, more can be included.
Originally purchased by my grandfather in 1947, we have owned the house since 1987 and now it will be passed down to our grandchildren, Carson and Gabby Kincaid. Since starting this ad, Carson is now 12 years old and Gabby is 7. Both enjoy playing in the river and exploring!!
We have completely remodeled the upstairs (downstairs not yet available) and have updated all utilities and living spaces. Practically everything is new - granite counter tops, cabinets, bathroom, wiring, and plumbing.
Come stay with us and experience a new level in Mountain Luxury!!

Wonderful stay! Homeowners really took extra care in providing everything needed for a family to enjoy a much needed vacation! We spent the majority of our time on the amazing porch...even during some great thunderstorms! Would definitely stay again!

Kathleen,
Thanks for the review and we're excited that you had a wonderful stay. During this time of year, the porch is definitely an extended living space where you can eat, work, enjoy family, and relax. The sounds of the river also add a calming effect. We certainly hope you return at the next available opportunity!!!
Very nice place- close to hiking trails and Ashland. It was a perfect fit for our family get-away.

Thanks for your comments and for your stay!!
Yes, lots of good hiking possibilities within a very short drive from the cabin; plenty to explore in the area.
We hope you will return to fully enjoy the Hickory Nut Gorge!!!
This was the perfect, relaxing getaway that our family needed. Convenient location to Chimney Rock. We spent most of our time on the spacious screened in deck just listening to the river. It was wonderful!

We tell everyone that the focal point of the cabin is the back porch and the river. You can literally feel any stress leave you body while you sit there. Of course there is so much to do in the area to occupy one's time but returning to the porch can be the perfect way to begin or end the day. We look forward to your return.

Loved that the property was on the river. It was super fun to go out back and try to fish. The cabin was very clean, well decorated and very comfortable. Good location to go see the surrounding sights.

Thanks for your comments. We are very close to everything in the area and just a short drive to the bigger sights of Asheville. But, with the back porch and the river, you feel "miles away".
We are glad you enjoyed your stay and look forward to your return.

Amazing stay, extraordinary owners!
My family stayed at Carson's Cabin over Labor Day weekend. The place was beautiful, and the view was spectacular. The owners were extremely proactive in their communication, and provided valuable information about local businesses and other attractions. Would love to come back again!!

Thanks for this great review. We certainly do our best to provide a place that will not only accommodate our guests but one that will leave a lasting impression. As mentioned in our "about us" portion, this property belonged to my grandparents when I was younger and I spent most of my early years playing in or near the river. Our goal is to make it just as enjoyable to our guests. Part of this also is always being available to provide information or help. Many of our guests have never been to this part of the NC mountains so making them familiar with the area - sights, activities, restaurants, etc - eliminates a lot of the worry.
You guys took very good care of the cabin while there so we eagerly await your return!!!
We really enjoy this place! It was super clean, had everything we needed and is located close to activities, shopping and restaurants.
The sound of the river in the back of the property was magical!
We will definitely be back,

Lovely Cabin
Just a lovely, well-appointed and remodeled cabin. It is centrally located to Chimney Rock, Lake Lure, Hendersonville and Asheville. Probably our favorite VRBO property so far! We will certainly visit again! Thank you for sharing Carson's Cabin!

Thanks for the comments and the "confirmation" that we made good decisions with our remodeling efforts. We certainly look forward to your return!!
This property was so peaceful and relaxing right on the river! Just minutes away from town and so cozy! The screened in back porch was our favorite! Thank you for sharing your place with us .
The process was seamless, the cabin was lovingly restored and immaculate. The location was a great jumping-off point for trips to hiking trails, breweries, Asheville and Hendersonville trips. As others have said, the ample and well furnished back porch with the sound of the river was the highlight.

The house and its proximity to the road has been that way for 100 years so very little we can do to change that. However, on the good side, the driveway between our house and neighbor is in the plan for improvement and will add at least one additional parking space for our house. and our guests.
Thanks for your stay and we hope all of the positives about our house outweighed the parking issue.
We've stayed all over the Bat Cave/Chimney Rock/Lake Lure area for years. This may have been the best place we've stayed (for a small group). Right on the river, beautiful trees, great location, and FANTASTIC back porch! House is 100% updated, comfy beds, great kitchen etc... Nothing to knock here! Great place!
Great back porch and view of river. It would be nice to have a place to park that wasn't right on the road

Thanks for the review and your comments about our porch and view of the river. It is exactly this vantage point that makes a stay in Carson's Cabin worthwhile. As far as the parking is concerned, there is enough space for 2 vehicles in front of the cabin. Yes, it is close to the road but this is an historical issue that has been there since the major flood in 1916. During that flood, it washed away the road that was actually in our backyard. When replaced, the highway department moved it to it's current location between the houses and the adjacent mountain - not much space to work with. However, and more to your comment, we will be working this off-season to add at least one parking space in the driveway beside the cabin. At a minimum, it will provide 3 total parking spaces with one definitely being off of the road.
We do hope that you did enjoy your time in Carson's Cabin and will return next fall if not sooner!!!
Thanks.

This was my first time to Asheville and it was an amazing experience staying in this cute little mountain town Bat cave/chimney rock! The cabin was everything we expected from the pictures and the descriptions. It was so cute and the enclosed porch overlooking the river was just amazing! It is cozy and clean. The property managers were so friendly and answer questions quickly and in depth I would highly recommend this place!

Thanks for your comments!! The porch is our favorite part of the house as well. We spend the majority of our time (meals, work, relaxing) right there listening to the river. We want our guests to enjoy everything as well which is why we try to be very responsive and accurate when addressing questions. This was your first trip; we certainly hope it will not be your last and look forward to working with you again!!
It was a nice cabin. Looked just like the pictures! Someone put a lot of work and effort into the remodel especially the wood work! Just beautiful. Only drawback was the parking. Not much at all. But it was conveniently located to all the attractions and restaurants nearby.

Cindy,
Thanks for the review!! Yes, the parking has been like this for well over 75 years. Once we complete all of the work on the property, there will be additional parking in the drive way between Carson's Cabin and our neighbor. However, we make full use of the space we've been given and two cars can easily fit in the front. We do hope you'll consider us again for another "Weekend Getaway!!!"

Really nice, quaint house with a warm gas fireplace. Wonderful sound from river in the back with fire pit. Only complaint is too soft a mattress in bedroom next to kitchen and cable tv in living room a problem intermittently. Hosts were quite helpful though

Comfy Clean Cabin on the River
This cabin was our 2nd choice - the first being already booked for our weekend. Thank goodness for that because i can't imagine a better place for us. We are a family of 4 with two boys aged 4 & 6. And for us this cabin was perfect. First it was very clean - the pictures i don't think do it justice. The rooms are all very functional. The kitchen is roomy - very cute and very well functional. The two bedrooms were perfect for us - our boys shared one bed (easy at their age) and My wife and I found the other bed to very comfortable. The tv room is perfect for passing a little time at the end of the day....
But by far the star of this property is the screened in porch. Other than sleeping we spent the majority of our time out there..listening to the river..even on a warm day the fans keep the porch very comfortable.
Great location for us - we spent two days in Lake Lure / Chimney Rock area - could ask for a more convenient location.

Thanks for the comments Doug!
We like to think that we're the best option too but we're obviously biased. We remodeled the rooms thinking of not only our comfort but for anyone who may stay there. The porch was intended to be a "retreat" - a focal point of the cabin and you discovered that as well. You can sit there and let the rest of the world go by.
We certainly hope that you will make us your "Number 1" choice going forward and that you will stay with us often.
Thanks again!

My husband and I had a lovely time staying in this older cabin. This is a house on the banks of the Rocky Broad River; the upstairs of the house has been renovated for rental. The vibe here is "laid back nice" with a roomy kitchen that's well equipped. We spent most of our time in the recliners on the large porch at the back, reading and listening to the river. The cathedral ceiling on the porch and fans helped us be comfortable for all but the hottest parts of the days during this summer visit during a heat wave with high humidity (heat index 104 degrees). We appreciated the varnished wood floors and variety of lighting. The custom cabinetry which makes maximal use of space in the bathroom & closet added to its appeal. Everything was very clean. Parking space for 2 cars max is in front of the cabin, just off the road. The hosts are very helpful and responsive; they provided an accurate idea of what we we're going to find. The cabin is small but well laid-out; my 5-star rating is applicable to this size cabin, not on a scale with huge new elaborate rentals. We like to live simply, so it was perfect for us.

Thanks for your review!! We obviously love our house and do our best to make sure our guests feel that love and enjoy themselves while there. We hope to better utilize the driveway beside the house when all of our remodeling efforts are complete. When the work is done, we should be able to offer guests a minimum of a 1BR/1BA rental option OR a 4BR/2BA "whole house" option which would definitely put it in range with the larger properties. We also try to keep our rates slightly lower than all of our competition so that guests are getting the best BANG for their buck!! Finally, we feel that the back porch and back yard view is the JEWEL of our property. Very few rentals offer what we have at our price.
We hope you enjoyed your stay enough to return and recommend us to family and friends. We look forward to seeing you on your next visit.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cabin. My friend nick named it Cozy Toes Cabin. It was just the perfect place to stay and see the beauty of the fall leaves. The porch is fabulous with a lovely flowing river behind the house. It was wonderful to hear the river as we had our morning coffee. Woould definitely stay again!
Our stay was wonderful at Carson’s Cabin! The atmosphere was pleasant and relaxing. We all enjoyed our time here. Everything was as pictured and delightful. The river behind the cabin was nice to listen to!
This cabin was perfect for a getaway. It's a few minutes from hiking and food at Chimney Rock, and about 30 minutes from Asheville and Hendersonville. The back patio is wonderful with the Broad River running behind the property. Both bedrooms have glass doors looking out towards the river. And the remote-controlled fireplace was perfect at the end of the day. Thanks!!

About the host
Hosted by Randy and Brenda Kincaid
Carson was born in 2012 and is our 'Pride and Joy'. He is so much fun to be around. As our only grandson and the heir to this property, and considering that my grandfather, Charles Carr Harrelson, was the first in our family to own this house, I thought it only fitting to call the house 'Carson's Cabin'.
My name is Randy Kincaid. I practically grew up in this house and spent every summer there until 1968 when my grandparents sold their mountain property. My wife, Brenda, and I purchased the house in 1987 and have been continual part-time residents of Bat Cave since then. I am a retired elementary school principal but still do contract work for our local school system. Brenda retired as the Director of Cooperative Education and Student Employment from the community college in our town.
Since retiring, we have spent most of our time remodeling Carson's Cabin with the thoughts that most of our free time will be spent there since getting up early to go to work is no longer a concern. Many of the upgrades we've made have been to make life easier for us while also appealing to the 'guests' we may have stay in our house.
Carson is now 9 years old and developing into a fine "little man". One of his hobbies is fishing in the river or, when the fish aren't biting, jumping around the rock or simply playing in the river.
Why they chose this property
A friend who got me interested in real estate investing once said, 'Never buy a property with your heart!' Well, if you read the section above, you know that's exactly what I 'DIDN'T' do. I was upset when my grandparents sold the property so when the opportunity presented itself for me to buy the house, there was no doubt that I had to have it. Obviously with the name (Carson's Cabin), I have no plans of selling and hopefully, one day, this house will be his!!
What makes this property unique
Spend the weekend here and you know the benefits - so peaceful, so restful - OMG, an almost perfect place!
If you're fortunate enough to be here on Sunday mornings, be sure to take your cup of coffee to the back porch and listen to the church music from Bat Cave Baptist Church right across the river and up on the mountain. An unforgettable experience!!
Spend time down by the riverside. We have a large fire pit and chairs on the lawn for your use and enjoyment. The sound of the river is almost 'hypnotic'; you will definitely feel the calming effect!!
