Mark works in luxury hospitality, real estate and resorts for one of the world's leading premium brands. His love affair with St Ives began as a child thanks to family connections to Cornwall and he's been going back there ever since. He took Sophie there on holiday after they got married in 2015 - she loved it so much that they ended up leaving with the keys to Hillside in their pocket! Sophie is the business expert, works for one of Asia's largest companies and has a property development background and speaks fluent Chinese. Until they move to St Ives full time, they are happy to share their dream home with couples, families and groups of friends through VRBO. Please do get in touch if you have any questions at all. Why they chose this property

We fell in love with Hillside the moment the door opened and we saw the fantastic long hallway with polished marble monochrome flooring. We spent ages looking for 'the one' and this is definitely it.

There's something special about Victorian houses and this one really is a unique proposition in central St. Ives. It feels like a home from home and our guests thus far seem to agree. Come and experience it for yourself.

We love the feeling of light and space that Hillside affords - much like the town itself. Throughout the house feels sophisticated, contemporary and very comfortable. On every floor you'll find interesting features and places to relax.

The large garden at Hillside is also a rarity in the town, with 2 decked areas ideal for sunbathing and enjoying a BBQ. The garden was completely transformed by local designers and in early 2017 to give it a real a 'wow' factor.

We love our iconic St Ives street, Skidden Hill and no wonder we get people stopping outside and taking photos! From its elevated position overlooking Godrevy Lighthouse to the middle distance, Hillside is tucked in next to St. Ia church. You'll find everything you need under a minute's walk away - from a post office to pasties. A short walk in the other direction brings you to the gorgeous Westcott Quay from where you can take a level stroll to the stunning Porthminster Beach.

Mark’s top St Ives tip: Visit The Tate and the Hepworth Museum. Don't be afraid to explore galleries - there's something to suit all tastes and budgets. We can recommend where to buy great local art - we know the best galleries, the owners and artists.

Sophie’s top St Ives tip: December is one of my favourite months in St Ives – there's so much going on! Christmas markets, ghost walks, festive restaurant menus, the Lantern Parade and so much more. It tends to be dry and crisp too, making it perfect for coastal walks followed by a cosy pub lunch and ending the evening with a Hillside bath.

What makes this property unique

They say: "One of our favourite rooms is the Garden Room - a ground floor living room and an ideal place for adults or children to enjoy a movie, to read or simply to enjoy the views out towards the harbour beyond. The Garden Room also has a sofa bed which can, if necessary, be converted to make the Garden Room another bedroom (with a bathroom directly next door) and bring the total number of guests to 8".

They also say: "We love the top floor of the house and the bedroom in the eaves. Accessed by a spiral staircase, there's also an ensuite bathroom. Outside is one of Hillside's best assets - a stunning glass balcony which affords views over the town, harbour and the ocean beyond. A wonderful place for morning coffee or a sundowner!".

Sophie says: "The ratio of bedrooms to bathrooms is important in a home. Hillside has 4 bathrooms and a w/c. All 3 bedrooms have their own high quality ensuite bathrooms with Italian Porcelanosa baths, showers and sanitary ware".

Mark says: "The parking space in a gated car park right across the street from Hillside makes getting in and out of town very easy - parking in St.Ives during summer can be a lottery, so to have our own space so close to the house removes that worry. After a long drive to Cornwall it's really great to know that you've got a space when you arrive, not on the other side of town, but right opposite where you'll stay - it really is that easy".
