About this property

Thaddeus Stevens' Gettysburg Log Home

Be our guest in a beautiful piece of American history! Built in 1790, this log home exemplifies a page from our history books with original wood floors, walls and beams. Located just 5 minutes walk from downtown, Lincoln Square, the home was once owned by Thaddeus Stevens and sits with a front seat view of where the Confederates occupied West Middle Street during the Battle of Gettysburg. The home, while keeping it's historic character, also contains modern conveniences (central air conditioning, recessed lighting, fully updated kitchen and baths, etc.). The Thaddeus Steven's house has 3 cozy bedrooms (upstairs, 2queen, 1full) and 1 & 1/2 bathrooms. Perfect for a couple, family or group of friends! Join us in this gorgeous historical home as you explore Gettysburg! **Please keep in mind the home was built in a time, when people were smaller. Ceilings and doorways are low. The floors slant and creak. The closet space is limited. And the home may not be functional for people with certain physical mobility issues. Appreciate where you are--transported to a special time--imagine yourself in another era! Enjoy Gettysburg!

It was truly an old cabin. The floors creaked and the doors closed funny. We loved it! It was exactly what we wanted. It was very comfortable and close to things we wanted to see and do. I would highly recommend it.

The cabin is very cute and in a great location. Not only is the cabin not very 200 years of history, there’s also a Thaddeus Steven’s museum just a couple blocks away. The owners are very welcoming and the cabin is well stocked. We will be staying there again on our next trip.

This property is a gem of a place to stay at for history buffs. It was in the heart of Gettysburg and within walking distance of the heart of this historic town. The owner is very sweet with great communication. The house has the quirks that one would expect for one of its age and adds to the experience. Book this place if you have an opportunity!

As a long time, visitor to Gettysburg It was nice not to stay in a hotel. The house is full of history that if the weather is bad, you don't mind staying inside. We were there for the Gettysburg College Master's Graduation and my husband's retirement. The beds are great, Very comfortable and firm. There were enough pillows that if you wanted to us 4 you could, The shower was fabulous. The pressure and hot water are above any hotel. Staying at the house made us feel like we lived there not visiting. The hosts are great I had questions and they called me to explain things.

Great place

Very cute home. Great location, we did not have to drive to anything which was great. Fun little game while you are there, finding dollar bills that have been hidden by other visitors.
