If you want peace and tranquility, this is your plans for stay. The house sets on the water with amazing sunsets and you may even see dolphins and seal throughout the day along with the lobster boats. This may not be a modern home, but if you want the New England rustic feel with a view, this is the place for you. Thank you for a great week, we will definitely return.
I can’t say enough about this cottage and the other two cabins able for rental. Our family had an absolute blast and watching the sunsets every night took our breath away! Walking in through the very well equipped kitchen the first thing you see is the water. Quite the views to be had!! The cottages were sparkling clean, I was so worried about the water system, but water was left for us to drink and the Britta pitcher worked like a dream! A ceiling fan in the main room is all that is missing, but there were enough fans to help us move the air around when it got stuffy. Our dog was very happy with the freedom she got. I will also say unfortunately she acquired an injury before we traveled up and the emergency vet in Freehold was awesome with her! Location is the cabin was wonderful, private and close to many wonderful sites. Would HIGHLY recommend this place! Communication with the owner was fantastic and she responded to all of my questions.
If you’re looking for rustic, historical, isolated, right on the water, quiet, plenty of wildlife to observe, beautiful sunsets that is within a reasonable driving distance to many of Maine’s popular attractions and places, this little house is going to be perfect for you. Luckily for us, that is exactly what I love. We prefer this type of rental over a hotel or noisy resort-type place. Sometimes, however, you have to be willing to also experience some things that may be different from what you are accustomed to. One of the things we didn’t like is the well water. The house does have a filtration system, but the water still smells and tastes bad. We didn’t like the old, narrow clawfoot tub with the clingy plastic shower curtain either, though the shower had good water pressure. The house, being old and on the water has a musty, dusty smell. All the overstuffed wooden drawers and cabinet and closet doors are swollen and difficult to open and close. Could use a good clean out. Our favorite part was the back porch on the water. I spent as much time as possible just watching the water and wildlife and beautiful, ever changing sky. One day a porcupine just walked right past us while we were on the porch. Deer in the yard every day. Harbor seals and porpoises. Birds everywhere. The host, Jean, is so nice and communicative. We found everything we needed in the house, but I’m sure she would have done anything she could if we needed anything else. We had a wonderful stay.
We had a wonderful week in Harpswell at this house (2 adults plus small dog). We enjoyed the amazing view of the bay, with the lobster boats working each day. Very quiet and private location. The house is older, and rustic, but comfortable and the kitchen was well-equipped. We ate a lot of very fresh lobster. Thank you, Jeanne!
Amazing property in an unbeatable location. Working with Jean was a dream - she’s wonderful. We love going to Dolphin and Erica’s so the proximity to those didn’t hurt either! And the sunsets? Amazing! Hoping to return next next year.
Property is typical 1960's vacation home on the coast. Excellent view of bay. Quiet, private and interesting. We had a wonderful stay and enjoyed the local small town feel. Local beaches, golf course, kayaking, whale ship and wonderful people made it greatggreplaceplaceplacebe!
The cottage was very private, and right on the ocean. We enjoyed our stay and were quite comfortable. The supervising of the ospreys, seals and eagles was a total delight ,sunsets were magic. I recommend bringing drinking water, as even though the water is filtered it still had a slight color/odor to it. I would best describe the place as a Vintage Camp, I would totally stay there again. The only difficulty was VBRO, no directions to the cottage, no telling how to get in, would not let us speak to the host, all they did was send me ads to stay somewhere else. We even had a issue with trying to book it, but Jean was great and it all worked out in the end. Thank you Jean.

Wonderful location
This home is right on Casco bay with large windows looking out. There is a great restaurant and another outdoor lobster shack less than 5 minutes away. One of our key issues was privacy which the owners stressed. Unfortunately, there is a small cabin 10 yards away that is occupied by a couple.
There is virtually no access to the water. There are no screens in several of the windows so that on a not day it can get warm. There is a rotten egg smell to the running water so that a shower is nota pleasant experience.
With a little work this can be a five star experience

as of 2020 we have completely replaced our water filtration system, and our water has been certified safe by the state of Maine. Our neighbors have not rented their property out in the past, but that seems to have changed.

heaven on earth
Peaceful and so very quiet. Comfy beds, kitchen was well stocked, and the cottage was spotless!! There were lovely fresh flowers on the table. The views from the cottage beautiful, along with gorgeous sunsets. There were nice trails to walk, and all just a short drive away. In fact, the cottage was close to everything the islands have to offer. I hope to return!!

Lovely rustic cottage right on the sea
Sweet, rustic cottage right on the Maine coast with sleepy days spent lounging on the deck watching lobster boats coming and going. Walk to great seafood down the end of the road, kayak from your cottage, or just read one of the many books from their bookshelves or do a puzzle while listening to the waves lapping against the shore. Lovely!
Only thing I'd wish for is a floating dock on which to sit and access the water more easily with my kayak.

We could not have been happier.
We can not say enough about this property. We have not been to this area in 15 years, and had a great time. The house is a typical rustic Maine property. Right on the water, and excluded. It was within 45 minutes from all we wanted to see, including Brunswick, LL Bean, the Maine Maritime Museum and all of the areas of Harpswell such as Bailey's Island, Cundy's Harbour and Potts Point. Fresh lobster was 7 minutes away. We were able to dine at very nice restaurants, eat lunch outside at a couple of wharfs and get fresh seafood to cook at the house. There was even a farm that we could get range free chicken eggs and fresh area fruits. The kids had a great time swimming at high tide. Jean was easy to work with, and very friendly. We had no problems whatsoever. When we go back to this area, we will do our best to schedule it so we can use this property again. We travel a lot, and the kids tell us whether we want to try something new. They want to return to this house. Thank you Jean.

Comfortable, cozy cottage with amazing water views
We just spent 3 nights at this wonderful cottage and plan to return for a week this summer. The photos of the house don't do it justice. It is a large, comfortably furnished, fully-equipped home with amazing water views from the living room and master bedroom. It is "off the beaten path" yet very close to a great lobster pound (Erica's seafood) and lots of beach walks, and 12 miles from Brunswick. The owner is lovely, easy-going and accommodating (she got the house ready at the last minute when our other rental fell through). We can't wait to return when the weather is warmer.
