Disliked: Cleanliness, listing accuracy
Don't stay here
The place was very dirty..The sliding windows would not open without excess force. The shower was dirty and full of mold.
The bed took up 3 walls of the bedroom so you could only get on from one side. We only stayed 1 night and would not have even stayed that night if we could have gotten a hotel. This is not a house. It should be listed as a camp house. I would NOT recommend staying here.

Im sorrry you did not enjoy your stay as other people have.. It is listed as Lake Cottage and has 1000 sqare feet of living space yet the bedrooms are small as noted by photos There is a queen bed, book case and dressor in the one room so it make for less space. Cottages can gets dirt from outside lake air which travels but place is always alway cleaned before every new guest arrives using bleach on sinks door handles counter tops, toilet, sinks and shower and lime cleaner and white vinegar and a special sterilzing lamp is used in every room after every stay . Its been vaccummed and sterilized and if there were spots that were missed we were unawere and apoligize. Deep cleaning done every opening season with chorine bleach, vinegar including windows and ceiling fans . The cleaning person could have come up and remedied the issue we could have given you some money off your stay for any inconvience . The Anderson the windows are heavy and are large . They are picture windows for the view and we could have had the maintence man may have been able to help make them silde better for you but no one has hever had an issue with that and we have to be aware of problems to remedy it them for you if they were a problem . The water is very hard and the shower has rust discoloration on the fittings but there is not mold that we were aware of and there has several guests before you made no complaints about. . The air is humid on any lake and mold can grow quickly on hot humid weather days so if we missed it we would have someone to remedy the problem but you choose to not contact us regarding . I had no idea why you were leaving so I thought is was a personal mattter and didnt want to pry . You gave no reason why you were leaving so we cant resolve a propblem we are unaware of . There was no commuication as to any issues upon your arrival and your leaving and I did reach out to you via email VRBO but no reply again .I would have been happy to accomdate you with another updated more modern listing .which can suit some people who are not looking for a rustic cozy setting . Im sorry thinks didn't work for you and Im happy to send you a partial refund . We have been renting for over a decade and havea good rating with dozens of satified guest and we want to make things right
I loved waking up every morning to the view of the lake. It was beautiful! The house was a bit smaller than I expected, but it all that I needed for myself and my two dogs. Pat was amazing to deal with; communication was excellent!
Quaint and cute older cottage with spectacular lake views. Perfect for a couple or small family.
Pros: Lakeside view, accessibility, wonderful communication with property owner, lovely trails to walk our dog on, quiet neighborhood, wonderful deck to sit out on, sunsets are marvelous, owner offered to let us use their personal dock at their own house since the cottage doesn’t have one (we didn’t really need this with the temps we had anyway while we were there.) Lovely front room/sun room area to sit and watch the lake.
Cons- Cottage could use some updating (this didn’t bother us but I’m leaving this review for others), the bathroom is tiny (but it’s a cottage bathroom again), Small bedrooms (again it’s a small camp, didn’t bother us but letting others know.)
Overall we had a lovely time. If we ever come back to the area we would rent again.
This cottage is very small and hasn’t been updated for some time. It all adds to the charm. The property itself is situated on an association that is expansive and beautiful. A great place for a summer vacation if you want to swim, fish or just watch the eagles from the nature preserve across the river soar above you. The bathroom could have been cleaned a little better but I know they have a quick turn around time.
Rosemarie and guest were great to have Clean and even left us another coffee maker
Come back any time !

Great location! Nice, quiet cottage! Fantastic place to kayak! Awesome sunsets!
This vintage cottage was a great getaway for us! The sun room offered a great vantage point to see the lake and exquisite sunsets. From the deck we saw blue herons, bluebirds, hummingbirds, cormorants and all manner of finches. The location offers both great kayaking along the river and around the big island. There were bike trails in the nearby area following the Erie Canal. On rainy days we explored nearby antique shops and stores. All in all a great place to vacation.

Beautiful cottage and location
The cottage is very quaint and the location is beautiful, right next to the lake and away from much civilization - exactly how we wanted it. Patty was very accommodating and ready to help out with suggestions for places to visit and other general information. I would visit again if possible.
