About this property
Cozy Log Cabin In The Woods
Our cabin is secluded and nestled in the woods on 3 acres. The nearest neighbors are more than 150 feet thru the woods. We have ALWAYS been completely disinfecting our cabin, bedding, linens, etc.. with a powerful germicide that is effective against virtually every type of virus and bacteria including the human coronavirus. In times like these it's nice to be able to get away to a safe place and enjoy nature and our cabin offers just that-- a safe and secluded place to chill for a while.
You are going to love this sweet little northern Michigan getaway located on 3 acres and adjoining thousands of acres of Wakeley lake area federal and with miles of hiking trails. Lots of great fishing and swimming lakes close by. But-- the main attraction to this location is the famous Au Sable River mainstream-- just 500 yards from the cabin. This river is nationally known for its world class fly fishing for brown, rainbow, and brook trout.
The Au Sable river is also a popular destination for canoeing, kayaking, and tubing with several local rental liveries in grayling.
Cabin has 2 double bed futons and a double bed air mattress that can be used if needed to sleep up to 6 guests. The cabin has a fully equipped kitchen with everything-- just like home. Nothing you need to bring. All bedding, towels and washcloths provided. Both charcoal and gas grills provided. Basically-- all you need to bring is your clothes, food, and drink and you are good to go!
Pet friendly. Huge yard with big campfire pit. Picnic table and lawn chairs. A great place for the kids with swing set, sandbox, yard games, basketball hoop, horseshoes, and more. Just a 500 yard walk down the road to the Au Sable river mainstream to a great spot to swim, fish, canoe, tube, kayak. Our cabin is located just 15 minutes from Grayling.
High speed fiber optic Wi-Fi Internet 100mbs. Verizon and AT&T cellular service. Equipped with TV/DVD/VCR player and hundreds of movies.
We supply 1/3 cord campfire wood for $20 when you book your stay. If you want additional wood you need to either bring your own or buy from a local source.
Our cabin is available to rent starting Memorial Day weekend thru October 31.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay. If you’re looking for peace, quiet, tranquility, and a break from electronics this is the place. Beautiful location and friendly people. Rod is very friendly and outgoing. Will definitely return.
Happy with nostalgia of camping when I was younger. Tons of dvds, vhs, and board games if weather becomes unfavorable or just want to. Property felt very private and maintained well.
Great cabin. Had everything we needed. Big yard in the woods my Granddaughters had a great time playing. Supplied plenty af fire wood for a great price. Thank you for that. Will definitely come back.
Great place if you've got kids they loved the property lots to do and had fun waking down to the river to go swimming.

About the host
Hosted by Rod Larkin
This cabin was built in 1963 and has been in our family since 1970. We moved to Grayling in 2010 and we live less than 10 minutes from our cabin. We love living in the Grayling area and especially on the Au Sable River. This is God's Country for sure!
Why they chose this property
My parents bought this property when I was 13 years old and I've been spending time here for 48 years and counting. I purchased this property from my parents in 1986.
The Grayling area has so much to offer from pristine rivers and lakes to Hartwick Pines, endless miles of hiking and ORV trails. It's a great place to stay and a great place to play!
What makes this property unique
Our little log cabin is nothing fancy so if you are looking for a posh resort-- keep looking. We cater to people who want to get away from it all. We cater to families with kids and pets. We cater to sportsman who love to fish and hunt. People come here and return here more for the outdoors and all it has to offer more than the indoors.
With both the Au Sable and Manistee river systems in the Grayling area-- it's a fly fishing, canoeing, kayaking, float tubing meca!
Everyone who stays with us says-- "You have thought of everything we might need or want to have during our stay." We love helping people make great memories Up North!
We offer all this at a price that's hard to beat-- less than just about any motel/hotel overnight price you'll find.
