The hot tub was amazing. The view of the AuSable was beautiful. Very clean and had everything I needed. The bed was very comfortable and cozy. Would definitely stay here again.
The property was great! It had everything we needed. They had a guest book with previous recommendations that we found super helpful! We enjoyed the hammocks, hot tub, and feeding the goats and chickens. The beds were a bit uncomfortable but chairs and couch were super comfy. We would love to plan a trip here again!
Perfect stay and just what I was looking for for a quiet weekend with kayaking, star gazing, and being close to nature. Hosts were kind and attentive and communicated well while still giving me space to enjoy my time. Would definitely stay again. Also, their dog Wren is such a sweetheart. An unexpected addition to the trip that was really special.
Had a fantastic time at this property. When we were not chasing Hex until the wee hours of the morning, we spent a lot of time on the wonderful patio taking in the fresh air, the gorgeous view and the sounds and sights of nature (witnessed 4 deer hanging out in the middle of the Au Sable!). Highly recommend this property!
Jeanne & Chad have a warm and happy compound which is restorative, charming and an unique experience. (How often do you have a vacation rental where you get to feed goats and chickens?)
We hope to be back!

Some friends and I planned a golf trip at Forest Dunes Golf Club. We arrived late at night and got a little mixed up about which entrance to to use, but the owners cleared that up ASAP. It's a great spot on the river; very quiet and peaceful. We had an excellent stay!
The house was just as described. Hitting the hot tub after a long day on the river was a great perk. The large patio and fire pit were great for hanging out. Beds were comfortable and linens were clean. Firewood was available for purchase on-site. Everything was set up and super convenient, all we had to do was worry about catching fish. Host was extremely helpful and quick to answer questions. Will definitely stay again.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, location
Disliked: Listing accuracy
Clean but not private
The description does not indicate you are sharing the place with the owner directly upstairs. Only thing the listing states is that it’s an “apartment” well that isn’t a good indication. Some people rent out whole places as an apartment. Not much privacy, it was hard to be comfortable. My husband walks with a cane due to an electrical accident making the stairs were hard to navigate down to the entry door especially in the dark. It would’ve been nice if they would’ve turned the porch light on at the back door since I told them we’d be arriving late. It was just weird staying at someone’s place while they lived upstairs and you could hear everything. The heat was also not blowing into the entire space for a whole day before we figured out the vents were all closed. Nice location and clean but next time I’ll ask more questions I guess.

It is very clear in the description that this is a shared home and even states "we live above." It also states that there are stairs to the private entrance and a picture to show. The path is not only lighted but has a motion light. Directions are in both the welcome guide and laminated by the light switch how to make the place cooler and warmer by using vents and portable heaters and fans.
What is even more frustrating is since her original plans fell through hours before she was to arrive on a different weekend, and instead of no refund I let her reschedule her weekend at no charge. This blocked two of my weekends just for her. She fails to mention this in her review. Sometimes as a host you go the extra mile and still get burned.
Couldn’t say enough great things about this spot. Was hesitant about staying in someone’s basement but those folks are super quiet, friendly, and respectful.
This is my second time staying here. It is a wonderful location on the river and very peaceful. The addition of the steps down to the entrance was great. Very easy to access. It is very comfortable and I was pleasantly surprised that the Wi-Fi was strong enough for me to teach a live online class while I was there. I would highly recommend this place, but I don’t want you to come so there is more room for me :)
We went for a couple days over our kid's spring break and it was an awesome place to stay. Got to hang out with the goats and chickens, have a fire and roast marshmallows, and soak in the hot tub. The hosts were great communicators and were very accommodating. We will definitely be back again!
