The Location - Shoal Bay Beach Apartments are just 200 metres from the Western end of popular Shoal Bay Beach and also has a pool in the complex. Only one kilometre to Shoal Bay's cafes, restaurants and boutique shops or two kilometres to Nelson Bay for more shops, supermarket, cafes, restaurants and the marina. The ideal base!

The Apartment - Apartment 17 is on the second floor and overlooks a bush land reserve. There is a large balcony with a gas BBQ, perfect for outdoor dining, leading into open plan and air conditioned living with a sofa bed, flat screen TV and DVD player, dining area and a full kitchen with cook top, oven, microwave and dishwasher. The main bedroom has a king bed and balcony access, the second bedroom has a tri bunk bed (double on the bottom and single on top) and there is one bathroom with a shower, plus an internal laundry with a washer and dryer. Off street parking for one car with lift access to the apartment.

There are definitely smoke alarms at this property.

Linen and bath towels are provided. The beds will be made ready for your arrival (except for the pull-out sofa).

The apartment was in a great location, close to shops, beach etc, but the apartment windows/doors did not have fly screens, making it impossible to get fresh air without bugs coming into the space, but it was incredibly hot in both the bedrooms (with no airflow due to lack of screens), the apartment was not particularly clean, with dust, grime and multiple cockroaches during our stay. The pool was easily accessible, but again was a bit dirty and grimey.

We won’t be staying here again ,!!!

Would not stay there again nor recommend to anyone . Unit was not clean , dust everywhere . Outside patio was filthy hadn’t been cleaned for months . Not my idea of renting a unit & have to make up beds before we could sleep in them (holiday) . Plates were chipped . A used dish cloth had been holded up & put back in the cupboard to be reused . COVID really .

It's a shame this property is leased through Winning Holidays, because the property itself is quite nice. Its an updated beachy apartment in a good location. It was missing basics such as hand soap, salt and pepper, etc which we had to purchase ourselves. Cleanliness was not great: the BBQ was absolutely FILTHY so we didn't bother, the couches & throws are grubby, but the worst thing was finding crusty white stains on the inside of the doona. Really disgusting. As for our experience with Winning Holidays: COULD NOT BE WORSE! I was called a few days before check-in and told their system had an error so our payment didn't go through. We paid & I sent an email with proof of payment, also asking for check in instructions. I hear nothing. I continue to send emails & get no answers. Days go by and now we are due to check in. I call their office multiple times: NO ANSWER. I leave voicemails asking for someone to call me back: NO ANSWER. Finally at 2.30 we get an email saying check in from 3pm and a text with an address to collect keys!! We BARELY make it to their office before closing! 5 people behind the desks, unfriendly, claiming their phones don't work. We get a key and an address (no unit number). The key has 218 written on it: UNITS ONLY GO UP TO 20! We try keys on units 2, 17 and 18: NONE WORK. No after-hours number to be found! I race back to their office with 1min spare to get another set of keys. HORRIBLE, STRESSFUL START TO A HOLIDAY. I recommended you book elsewhere.

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: It was good despite rain all weekend.Loved the ice cubes already in the freezer.I know there had been lots of rain the week before and during the weekend but the second bedroom carpet inside the glass door was/got very wet due to the drain on the balcony covered in leaves and balcony filled up with water and it came in under the door. We used towels to try and dry it out.

Family Getaway

Property was dirty, furniture could use an update. Most disappointing part was the pool was out of order which wasn’t posted that way on the add. So the wife and I had to deal with 3 kids that prefer to swim in a pool over the beach. I complained to Winning Holidays yet didn’t hear back. Location is great and neighbours were nice.
