More details:
The Little Cottage (TLC) is a sweet retreat where families, couples, or individuals will find the TLC (tender loving care) they need to recharge and renew! The cottage was built in the 1920's and has been well taken care of and updated over the years keeping the original character and adding modern features and appliances. It has a gas fireplace in the living room. Reliable internet/Wi-Fi and streaming TV are all available.
The cottage is well-stocked with games, books, toys, and movies for all ages. The owner is an artist and will supply an easel and some other supplies if you would like to paint. Spend a day site-seeing and taking photographs and then paint your impressions of the beauty of Estes Park, Rocky Mountain National Park, and all the surrounding areas. If you are a writer, there is inspiration for miles around. There is a desk in one of the bedrooms near a window with a view of trees and rock outcroppings and mountains.
There are 2 bedrooms (queen in one and a double in the other) and 1 bathroom with tub/shower, window, and a ceiling heat lamp (for those chilly summer or winter mornings). The cozy living/dining room has a big picture window that overlooks a wooded lot with rock outcroppings and has views of the mountains to the north (including the Twin Owls and Lumpy Ridge). Elk and deer often can be seen browsing here or rutting in the autumn months. A sweet little elk calf was born under a tree here in spring of 2015!
The living room sofa pulls out to make a double-sized bed. There is a 42" flat screen TV and a Blu-ray player. Wi-Fi/Internet is on site as well. Enjoy the fire in the gas fireplace when you are relaxing in the living room. The dining table seats 6. The kitchen was updated and is complete with cherry cabinets, granite countertops, gas range, microwave, refrigerator with ice maker, dishwasher, garbage disposer and all the dishes and small appliances you will need! There is a full-sized high-efficiency washer/dryer set for your convenience.
You will love having a cookout on the deck which wraps around on two sides. The grill is hooked up to the gas line, so you do not have to worry about running out of fuel. There is a patio table that seats 6. There is a fire-pit table for roasting marshmallows and being mesmerized by the flames. (You can check with the city for fire restrictions we may have if it has been very dry before your visit.) From the deck or kitchen window you can watch your children play in the playhouse/fort up on stilts or on the swing set.
Estes Park is a wonderful small town in a high-mountain valley surrounded by mountains. Rocky Mountain National Park is about a 15 or 20 minute drive to the entrance. Most of the year you may have to contact RMNP in advance of your stay and make reservations to get into the park. Plan for most of a whole day to see the park and get out of your car and take some of the hikes and take lots of photos. Be sure to bring a jacket and drink plenty of water (prevents headaches up at this altitude). Perhaps you will drive Trail Ridge Road and visit Grand Lake and Granby, CO or even Steamboat Springs, if you stay with us sometime between Memorial Day and Labor Day or maybe as late as mid-October (Please note that it is closed during the winter because the snow buries the roads). There are many shops and restaurants in town and the surrounding areas and a lovely river walk along the Big Thompson River in town. The lake offers fishing and boating (rent a paddle boat one day) and beautiful scenery. Horseback riding is available 365 days a year.
You can choose to be as active as you wish and then come back to the cottage for rest and relaxation or games and toys for fun.
If you have a very young child, we have a small crib and a highchair available as well. Just let us know in advance.
We hope you will love staying here! Let us know of any specific needs you may have.

Thank you Jaime! It was a pleasure talking with you. I’m happy you enjoyed your stay! My cleaners today wondered if you all were really there—it was so clean! Thanks for leaving the puzzle put together—it was fun seeing the colorful scene!

This is a cute little cabin away from town a bit but it was perfect. Vicki was great in her response time and gave some great advice for staying in high altitudes. We would stay there again! Thanks for your hospitality Vicki!

My pleasure! I hope you and your family will return to stay again sometime!
This has been a great stay. The cottage is very cosy, clean, well stocked. Communication was very prompt and productive. We got very lucky with the weather as it snowed and we had several days of snow play. The Egg of Estes is a must to eat at as well. Recommend!
A perfect rental for anyone working at Estes Park Health, only a half mile drive. Vicki was always quick to respond to questions and having her son nearby was a comfort. I highly recommend this rental!
Cozy cabin and very peaceful. Nice wrap around deck, fireplace and more. Great for families and kids. Very polite owner and son. Away from town but close enough to get to restaurants or the rec center or wherever. All necessary amenities and a generous assortment of board games. Thank you.
Thank you.
Five-Star Review for The Little CottageThe Little Cottage was small, cozy, and quaint—absolutely perfect for the three of us. It had two bedrooms with dressers and small closets, giving it such a homey feel. The fireplace was wonderful during the chillier times, and the location was ideal—close enough to town for convenience but far enough away to avoid the noise.Everything was spotless, and Vicki was a fantastic host who responded quickly and made us feel so welcome. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything needed to cook, the linens were comfortable, and the home was filled with charming décor. We also loved the huge game selection and the little book library available to guests. Washer and dryer were great! We would definitely stay here again and truly appreciate the generous hospitality. Such a great spot near Estes Park!
The little cottage was amazing! Great location and very close to everything near by! Vicki was amazing at answering all questions we had and was a very sweet host! We got to experience a lot of wild life , right outside the front lawn. Very happy with my decision on renting this little gem. Hope to come back in the spring time !
The little cottage was perfect for our family of 4. It was quaint, cozy, and had everything we needed and more for Christmas. Vicki was great communicating and a wonderful host. She made sure the cottage was decorated for my kiddos at Christmas. We will stay here again!
The perfect mountain getaway. All you need for a trip to Estes Park. Quaint and ADORABLE cabin, with UNFORGETTABLE Views... Wrap around porch has those fantastic views, AND WILDLIFE EVERY DAY out in the yard!!!!
Ms. Vicki was here when we arrived and she explained and showed us around, I believe we got lucky, she is a beautiful soul and most friendly host we encountered!
If you get a chance to stay, we felt its exactly what a cabin in the mountains should be and feel and be like... perfect place for a mountain cabin getaway.....
Thankful

This is a cozy little cottage conveniently located about a mile from the central downtown area. There were just 2 of us and we were very comfortable and had everything we needed. We would definitely stay here again.
Very nice place. Great little kitchen and comfortable cottage. Small hiccup with internet, but we had Good communication with Vicki and got it resolved quickly
We loved the playing the games that Vicki had there in the cottage. She has a nice tv and lots of movies. The location was great. We made thanksgiving dinner there and it was great. Thanks, Vicki
This was our first stay in Estes Park and our first stay with VRBO. It could not have been better. "The Little Cottage" is perfect. Vicki, the owner, is extremely helpful and hospitable. The house was ideal for my wife and me and our two sons, who are 21 and 16 years old. They were perfectly comfortable in the bunk beds, and our bed was comfortable too. Being able to cook our own meals and wash our own clothes was fantastic. The whole house was so comfortable after a day of hiking in the mountains. The central heat worked perfectly, and it was nice to open the windows for some cool, fresh mountain air.
The photos of the house are completely accurate, but it's still a little hard to grasp the layout. The location is close to the center of town and the Safeway grocery store and is a short drive to Rocky Mountain National Park. It's on a quiet residential street. We were there for 7 nights and never heard a single noise from any of the neighbors. The front door opens into the kitchen. The compact washer and dryer are located in a closet in the kitchen. The dining table is in the adjacent living room. The two bedrooms are separated by the bathroom. It's very cozy but has plenty of space for a family of four or more since the couch pulls out into a bed. The appliances are compact but are new and work very well. The house was very clean. The front deck wraps around the side and includes a gas grill and fire pit. We enjoyed using both.
The house was fully stocked. Vicki supplied all the essentials and more. She was prompt and responsive in communicating with us. If you're lucky and the timing is right, she might come by and orient you when you arrive like she did with us. On top of everything else, we saw elk grazing in the back yard every day. It was an amazing place to spend a week in the mountains.
If you have any questions, just contact Vicki. You will like her. She's super nice and helpful. If you stay here, you cannot be disappointed.

Great location & value
Overall, the cabin is snug and homey, not fancy but not cheap either. Appropriately appointed, satisfactorily cleaned and well stocked in accessories in the kitchen and bathroom. Only thing I noticed missing was a clothes iron, which was no big deal! Host is very helpful and quick to respond and friendly to top things off! Great stay and probably will book again next year!

Comfortable little house
The house was okay but nothing spectacular at all. It was adequately clean. The shower curtain was really dirty on the bottom and needs to be changed. The kitchen has been updated and is very nice. Loved the washer and dryer. The house was filled with so many things it came across as cluttered as there was not much empty space or wall space at all. It needs to be thinned out a little.

I prefer cozy, vintage décor. You prefer "spectacular" more minimalist décor. I have never had any other complaints about the décor! My photos are true to the furnishings. I'm happy you loved the convenience of the washer and dryer! Thank you for the compliment on the "very nice" kitchen! The shower curtain liner has been replaced!

So comfy & cozy
Felt like home. It was close to town & Rocky Mountain national park. Kitchen was well stocked with appliances ,spices ,pots & pans for cooking. Owner thought of all our needs & supplied us with plenty of extra towels, blankets & things to do. Having a washer dryer is a great convenience . Would have gotten 5 stars if stove was working. Had a wonderful time!!!!!

Vicki was great! The crib was unavailable so she got a new pack-n-play for our baby to sleep in the night of our arrival. The kids really enjoyed all the games, play area, & wild life! We'd definitely stay again.

Perfect view of Lumpy Ridge in the morning!
This is our second stay at this cabin and my family and I loved it!! The location is perfect. Close enough to the downtown to make everything quickly accessible but far enough to avoid all the hustle and bustle of being in Estes Park in the holiday season. The cabin really has EVERYTHING you need. We cooked a holiday meal and found all the utensils we needed.
Internet worked great! Sleeping arrangements worked for four people (two teenagers and two adults). The view of Lumpy Ridge out the living room window was perfect...we enjoyed many a high mountain sunrise.
The owner is wonderful and super helpful and we wish her the best!

About the host
Hosted by Owner/Manager
Hi! I am a teacher and an artist. I love being in the mountains! I have lived in Colorado all of my life. Please feel free to ask me questions in your inquiry. I love sharing my little cottage and information about Estes Park.
Why they chose this property
This property was built in 1920! It turned 100 years old in 2020! It has been well taken care of over the years by a number of owners. All of the windows, plumbing, electricity, and the roof were updated before I bought it. It had a 1940's kitchen so I preserved as much as possible, but I updated it in many ways. It had lousy carpeting everywhere and I replaced it in the bedrooms and added hardwood flooring in the living and dining room. It is on a half-acre so there is room to play!
