About the host

We bought Sweetwater because we wanted a place where our family could unplug, breathe fresh mountain air, and spend time together in nature. Over the years it has become one of our favorite places in the world, and we’re grateful to share it with other families who are looking for the same sense of peace and adventure. We hope you’ll make memories here that last long after your trip ends.

Why they chose this property

What drew us here wasn’t a neighborhood—it was the land itself. Sweetwater is surrounded by Nantahala National Forest, bordered by the Thompson River, and filled with the kind of natural beauty that’s becoming harder to find. There are no streetlights, very little ambient noise, and the stars at night are extraordinary. Whether you’re hiking to waterfalls, fishing the river, or simply sitting on the porch listening to the water, we hope you’ll experience the same peace that made us fall in love with this place.

What makes this property unique

Sweetwater is more than a cabin—it’s an experience that’s becoming increasingly difficult to find. You’ll be staying on nine private acres surrounded by Nantahala National Forest, with the Thompson River flowing through the property and no nearby development, traffic, or artificial light.

From the front door, you can hike to waterfalls, explore mountain streams, fish for trout, or simply spend the day listening to the river from the screened porch. At night, the only sounds are the water, the wind in the trees, and the wildlife around you.

We believe what makes Sweetwater truly special isn’t just the cabin—it’s the opportunity to unplug, breathe fresh mountain air, reconnect with nature, and enjoy a level of peace and privacy that’s becoming harder to find.
