About this property

Fisherman, Traveling Workers and Vactioners love the Barefoot Retreat

We are located 1.3 miles from Barkley lake and about another 13 miles to Kentucky Lake. A great place for Fisherman as we have plenty of space to park your boat. We have everything set up for what you would need. Everyone is welcome. Great space for the kids to play. There is plenty of space inside and out, we have a nice deck out back with a gas BBQ grill. There is a fire pit also (wood upon request provided). This is a 2 bedroom house with a Den/3rd bedroom (has a hide a bed in couch). There is Futon in living room also. Start creating memories today. There is easy access to I 24 and we are about 38 miles from Paducah and about 95 miles to Nashville. Great day trips for the family. There is a water park a few miles away. Hu-B's marina at Kuttawa is about a 4 miles drive. We do also cater to traveling nurses and workers, please check out our monthly rates. Two beaches within a 5 mile radius (Kuttawa Beach and Eddy Bay). Eddy Bay Marina is there also.

Short stay in Eddieville

My wife and I had a nice stay at the Barefoot Resort. Really like the area. The 2nd bedroom could use a better mattress for a adult but fine for kids. Nice affordable place to stay!

Kentucky Reunion

The rental process was very easy. It is in a beautiful area of Eddyville. My sister and I made use of the kitchen as we were cooking for our family reunion. We did have to dig a bit to find sheets for the fold out couch as we were using all rooms. Overall it was a nice relaxing place to stay.

Sandy's Retreat

The property is amazing. We felt at home the minute we walked in the door. The seating is comfortable and plentiful, the bedrooms are spacious and plentiful, the kitchen is decently stocked with everything you'd need to make family meals, and the place was cleaner than any hotel we have ever stayed at. Everything was in working order and communication between the host and us was exceptional. We will stay there again! Thank you so much for your hard work.

it was fair. I would not stay again for the same price. place was not clean. there was a general grimy dirty film on many surfaces. the bottom of my white socks became filthy from the floor. i felt a need to wash all utensils and dishware before using them. the reserve linens and blankets were not fresh enough to use. property is outdated. back yard outdoor patio and grilling area was too nasty to use. i wouldn't it recommend it unless you plan to eat your meals out and the price was cut somewhat.

Our getaway

Our mini getaway was great. We had such a great time in eddyville at Sandy’s retreat. We were all able to chill and relax and spend quality time with family. We went to Kuttawa beach and also spent all day at Venture river water park. The house was in a good neighborhood and was big enough for our family. It’s very cozy and beautiful and I recommend this place for anyone. Also the house is fully equipped and had just about everything we needed. The owners are also very friendly, if I had a question she answered it very quickly. We will be staying here again one day for a adult trip.

Just okay, much room for easy improvements

Let me start by saying this property has great potential, and with some restocking, repairs, and some heavy-duty cleaning, it could be much improved. The washing machine would not agitate (no guarantee sheets and towels weren't washed in this non-functioning machine prior to our stay), and the outdoor grill was horrid, we refused to cook on it. We notified the hosts of both issues during our stay, and supposedly washing machine and grill will be replaced or repaired upon our departure. Either the furnace/AC filter needs to be changed, or the heating/cooling unit itself needs a deep cleaning, as there was a layer of dust/dirt on the vents and on the louvered door in front of the unit (I attempted to vacuum off, but no vacuum attachments could be found). If dust/grime on horizontal surfaces such as lightbulbs, mini blinds, baseboards, cabinet tops, etc. is a turnoff, this is not the place for you. I've never seen such rusty cooktop drip pans. The kitchen linens (1 dishcloth for the week, and a black bleach-stained towel) were lacking. 3 table knives in the drawer (there were 4 of us, and advertised to sleep 8), there were 2 steak knives. I came across a paint scraper razor blade in the top of the kitchen sink garbage disposal that almost got chopped up. The kitchen sink needs new drain stoppers, there is not one for the garbage disposal side, and the other side is just worn out. There was only 1 hand towel for the week in each bathroom (there were good number of wash cloths and bath towels). Only 1 of 3 lightbulbs was working above the master bathroom sink (we did find 1 spare bulb in a kitchen drawer, so replaced 1). The bed pillows really need to be replaced, they are old, stained and flat. Toaster should be replaced as the cancel button does not work, and it only toasts on 1 side. On the positive side, the house is in a great location, with lots of living space, and communication was frequent, yet not intrusive. We really did try to not complain too much, despite being disappointed; and we attempted to leave it cleaner than when we arrived - we washed almost all of the dishes in the dishwasher (that I cleaned out the interior of, with the dishwasher detergent we had to purchase), and we wiped down cabinet interiors. I mention again that this rental has potential, and perhaps it will be improved for future guests. Unfortunately, we were not impressed.

Lake Barkley Hunting/Fishing Trip

This property was pretty much just what the listing stated. The second living room area was a bit of a surprise but worked out as a great place to put an air mattress for a separate sleeping area. Each room had a television connected to the Wi-Fi, which was nice. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking a nice meal. There were plenty of clean towels and the washer and dryer were nice to have. Parking was a little tight for 2 trucks and boats, but we were able to make it work. I would definitely consider renting again, as the house is centrally located between restaurants, boat ramp and golf course.

The house was in a convenient location. It had way more room than we needed for the 2 of us but we absolutely loved it. It was home away from home. Clean and well kept. Will definitely stay here again.

Quick last minute getaway

The house was great! It had everything we've needed and the location was awesome. We were right by some major marinas and enjoyed our day out on the water. There was complimentary snacks and water for us and a little welcome note on the chalkboard. It thought that was really a nice touch. We will definitely be back.......

I am originally from this area and have just purchased this home. This makes our 3rd rental and we love doing this. We have a local host that takes care of all your needs prior to, during and after your stay. We love hosting families and helping them to create lifetime memories.

Why they chose this property

We chose this property because it is bigger and centrally located to the lakes. We wanted to provide a lake experience that people can afford. There is 2 bedrooms and a den/3rd bedroom that has multiple sleeping options there. We have a hide a bed and a futon. We are kid friendly and welcome kids of all ages. We do not have any infant stuff available at this time, they are welcome.

What makes this property unique

You are minutes from many great outdoor activities. There are 2 marinas within a 4 mile radius, golf course, water park, 2 beaches, restaurants. We provide all the essentials to make you feel at home. We are committed to your vacation or time here being a pleasurable one. We have wifi, but hope the kids see the beauty of the outside and near by attractions. We love this area, and believe you will to.
