About this property
The Firepit Retreat
Simply the best equipped, most luxurious accommodation in Augusta. Spacious townhouse, top appliances & furnishings, solar HW, art, smart TV, games, books, quality linen, timber floors, Persian rugs, stocked pantry. Chef's kitchen. Fast internet. Water/tree views. Easy walk to shops, river, near beach. Peaceful. Each BR has own ensuite, deck. Fire pit, BBQ, outdoor dining. R/C AC. Park 2 cars. Explore forests, vineyards, caves. Cycle, read, cook, eat out, surf, swim, fish, RELAX in a real home.
The townhouse is in the front row of the complex so your view & privacy is not ruined by other properties & garages in the foreground. It is furnished and equipped with the utmost comfort and luxury: a home not a hotel. New top quality appliances throughout (Miele, Dyson etc). All bedding is top class - feather duvets for winter, waffle weave cotton blankets in summer. Because we normally live here, you will find the place is set up with all the extras that go with a modern home. You are welcome to read my books (please leave them behind when you leave), access the contents of my pantry, and use my appliance collection (sous vide local rib-eye recommended)! The furniture is luxurious, the artworks quirky. As it is more a home than a commercial venture, please treat it and its contents with the respect you treat your own. It is most comfortable with 4 guests.
Entire space except for locked cupboards and storeroom. Locked carport plus extra parking space outdoors.
If I am travelling overseas, I will make sure there is someone local available for you.
2 minutes walk for grocery supplies. A hotel with amazing views and good food directly across the road. The Deckchair Cafe is also about 2 minutes' walk. The quirky Ragged Robin does amazing coffee and top notch bric-a-brac. Flukes in the shops across the road & up the street next to the butcher has lovely gourmet foods and prepared excellent meals. Truffle ravioli anyone? Avenue 77 for classy holiday clothes and gifts. Fantastic fish and chips at Blue Ocean across the road. Colour Patch, a (very) short drive down the road is a sophisticated bar/restaurant. A 5-minute drive to a world-class marina, from which you can take whale-watching tours, beaches, park, playground. We are in the Augusta-Margaret River region with its amazing surf beaches, vineyards & wineries, art galleries, wood studios, forests, caves and restaurants. There's a real foodie culture here. In summer try reclining in a beanbag at Cape Mentelle Winery's outdoor movies. A short walk to the river with a jetty from which you can boat (great fishing), take river tours or even hire a houseboat for a couple of days to meander up the Blackwood. And take a whale-watching tour in Flinders Bay in winter between June and August. Great cycling.
You'll probably want a car to make the most of the wider region's attractions. However, you could easily spend a relaxing week just chilling in the immediate neighbourhood.
For every stay, I am making a micro-loan via Kiva. You and I are sharing some of our privilege.
More than 1.7 billion people around the world are unbanked and can’t access the financial services they need. Kiva is an international nonprofit, with a mission to expand financial access to help underserved communities thrive.
This is done by crowdfunding loans and unlocking capital for the underserved, improving the quality and cost of financial services, and addressing the underlying barriers to financial access around the world. Through Kiva's work, students can pay for tuition, women can start businesses, farmers are able to invest in equipment and families can afford needed emergency care.
When not hosting guests this is my treasured home, so you will find everything you need and more.

About the host
Hosted by Judith Fordham
I’m an author, a public speaker, a criminal lawyer and a forensic specialist. I'm a scuba diver and am working on learning to talk underwater. I love wine, shoes and handbags. I split my time between Molloy Island and Augusta in the South-West of Western Australia. I love this region and its people: its world-class food and wine (oh that’s right, I said wine already). I love to travel. I’ve been a guest many times and I’m now hosting also.
Why they chose this property
Perfect for having guests while I am at home and also for hosting. Each bedroom having its own ensuite is a major bonus. I love the fresh air, the views, the feeling of space and light, and the relaxation. Comfortable beds and top quality linen is great at the end of the day. I love it.
What makes this property unique
Location, location, location. Convenient, quiet, easy reach of restaurants and wineries. Whale watching in winter. Go here (you'll need to cut and paste into the address bar of your browser) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81mITzZrcDk
Beaches in summer. Fishing. Reading. Relaxing. Surfing. Eating & drinking. River cruises. Caves. Karri forests, vineyards.
