This is a very clean and convenient property to stay 10 min up the mountain from Nantahala outdoor Center. You don’t have to have 4x4, but it does help because there is loose gravel that makes it a bit tough for 2 wheel dr vehicles. We loved the fire pit and the hot tub!
We loved the space in this cabin! The layout was great. The fire that started with a push of a button, heaters in the bathrooms, and comfy bed were our favorite features. We had a few issues with cleanliness, repairs, and supplies, but the management was very responsive.
Booked this cabin for a weekend with my teen-aged grandsons. It’s conveniently close to the Nantahala Outdoor Center, where we had various activities booked. The cabin was clean, well supplied, and beds were comfortable.
We loved this cabin, with all it's amenities (full kitchen, grill, hot tub, fire pit), but most importantly was it's location: there are no other houses visible in any direction! It was a great place to disconnect in total isolation. Only caution is the gravel road is pretty steep, but that is a small price to pay to get to such an isolated cabin.
We had a great stay. The cabin was actually better than advertised. There were 8 of us and we had plenty of room. We would definitely stay hear again. Thanks for the memories!
The cabin was very nice, but do not try to find it in the dark. Roads to cabin are narrow, steep, and have some sharp turns. We almost didn't make it up the hill to leave the first day. We were in a mini van, but after down shifting and giving it a better running start we made it. Four wheel drive would be recommended. Cabin is dog friendly and we love dogs, but the cabin furniture had a dog smell which was unfortunate. We were missing some linen, but the staff was very helpful and took care of things quickly. Overall we enjoyed our stay. Location is perfect for relaxing and close enough to all kinds of activities.
My family and I enjoyed a wonderful stay at The Call of the Wild cabin. Was exactly as pictured. They were great with accommodating our needs during the stay. I don't recommend driving to the cabin at night unless familiar with the drive. There was plenty of room for our party of 8. We enjoyed the hot tub. Overall was a great experience and would stay here again.
"Call of the Wild" was the perfect spot for our recent mountain escape. The cabin itself is incredibly cozy, with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The highlight was definitely the fireplace – it provided the perfect ambiance for chilly evenings. We also loved relaxing in the jacuzzi. The views from the cabin were breathtaking, and the steep road leading up was absolutely worth it. Our dog, Ollie, had a blast exploring the surrounding woods. We found picking up groceries at Food Lion in Sylva to be convenient. We highly recommend "Call of the Wild" to anyone seeking a peaceful and relaxing Vacation mountain getaway
This was our second stay at the Call of the Wild for our Anniversary. Place is immaculate and away from everything with absolutely gorgeous views. Everything is 100% as pictured. The only downfall to our stay was that a mandatory outdoor fire ban was put into place after only 2 nights of being there. However, we completely understood why. This had nothing to do with the property as the ban covered several counties. We are already planning a stay again next year!
Older than expected (early 90s?), but some updates done. Hot tub is definitely newer and huge! Great fire pit.
There is wifi in the house, but not turned on for guests. Had only 1-2 bars with AT&T, so prepare to unplug!
Drive up there is a bit rough - you'll never find it if you get there at night!
My friends and I stayed there this past weekend. Incredible place. Very close to the Nantahala Outdoor Center, and we were offered several free amenities. Rooms were huge and everything was very clean and tidy. Can't say enough. They were also very communicative. When I booked a representative called me to review all free amenities, and ensure I did not have any questions. I would strongly recommend this owner, and this property. Very private. We could not see any houses from the property, but we passed several houses on the way up. Incredible. I look forward to getting back there in the fall!
We checked into cabin after dark on 12/26/22 and received a message that the water to cabin had frozen. So we would not have any water in the cabin and should use the jacuzzi water to flush toilets. The cabin did not even have a bucket to use for collecting jacuzzi water to flush toilets with. So we had to use a cooking pot. Obviously we could not use jacuzzi water to cook, drink, shower, wash our hands, or brush our teeth. And we couldn't enjoy the jacuzzi because that was our only source of water. We tried to find bottled water in several stores, but all were out of stock. So our vacation did get off to a good start. I even drove to the Watershed office in Bryson city to ask if there was any assistance they could provide. Maybe just a gallon of water. They told me that the whole area was affected by the freeze and they already bought up all the bottled water at the Ingles supermarket. No other cabins were available. So the only option offered was for us to cancel and receive refund for our unused nights or stay at the cabin and get a 50% water credit for the nights without water.
We ended up spending 2 nights at the cabin without water. Finally on the 3rd day we received a call that the water issue has been resolved. 3 weeks later, I am still waiting for the "50% water credit".
I understand this was an extreme weather issue. But the cabin should be stocked with some gallons of water in case of emergencies like this.
So if you are staying at this or any Watershed cabin in the winter, make sure to bring some gallons of water just in case.
Otherwise the cabin was great. The road leaving the cabin is steep but we were able to get in and out with our front wheel drive. Obviously a rear wheel drive or 4x4 would be suggested in situations of heavy rain or snow/ice.
Just what we needed! Close enough to go do the Snokey Mtn thing but not too close to be all up in the middle of the rat race. We had a great and comfortable stay.

Great remote cabin
Getting to the cabin was a challenge. You have to follow directions to the T. Overall we had an excellent experience
We planned for a weekend get away with the family and this location did not disappoint! Beautiful cabin, fully stocked for cooking, hot tub was great, and beautiful views of the NC mountains. Pet friendly and our pets loved the property, just keep an eye on them if they go out alone there are steep dark areas surrounding the property that could be dangerous. Listing said there was no Wi-Fi, but there is Wi-Fi available without added purchase. Cell service is ok with Verizon, but little to no service for ATT. Highly recommended if you are looking to get away from the city. Great fire pit area as well. ***I would recommend you have a 4WD vehicle if choosing this rental property as the gravel road can be a bit steep.***
Everything was as noted. I suggest getting here before dark. Can be a little tricky if you don't know the area. We will definitely stay here again. Very quiet and peaceful.
We were snowed in from a winter storm and the staff helped with everything to ease the stressful situation we were in. They get a 13 out of 10 from us

You want a place to go that is away from everyone but still close to outside activities,, this place is the spot. Nice 2 bedroom and loft with a great outside area with hot tub and fire pit. Very nice place. Highly recommend.

Quite and beautiful! Wish there were more lights around hit tub and fire pit.
Great time rafting, biking and hiking. Lovely cabin, but on a steep gravel road. Highly recommend all wheel drive vehicle. My FWD minivan couldn’t get traction. On our check out day, we had a nerve wracking experience with two wheels off the road that required a tow truck to get us back on the road and up the hill.
Good experience withthe property one mistake the hot tub was not properly cleaned and prepared when we came we were there three nights we lost one night because it wasn’t prepared clean and ready for us we arrived
