Luxury Stone Barn Conversion-On the edge of The Peak District. Hot Tub EV charge
Midhopestones is a small village on the outskirts of Sheffield and the Peak District. It is surrounded reservoirs, Public footpaths and bridal ways and is convenient for Manchester and the M1 motorway. The village is nestled in rolling hills with many walks and trails, long and short. Our local pub is 2 minutes walk away and has log fires, Oak beams and stone floors and sells good food and real ales. Our cottage is furnished to a very high standard and kept spotlessly clean. We have quality appliances including fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and smart Television. There is full central heating with underfloor heating downstairs.
Outside we have a large patio to the rear and guests have their own private deck. There is patio table with seating for 6 overlooking open countryside and the River Porter. For the children we have a large playhouse with toys and for the adults there is a wood fired Pizza Oven, BBQ and hot tub for up to 6.
To the front of the property there is a large off road car park and charging point for electric vehicles (Electricity charged at current rate)

Great location 20 mins from Sheffield and the reservoirs. Ye olde mustard pot pub 2 mins away served amazing food. We had a few power cuts early on in the week. The hot tub was excellent. Really clean with a cozy front room.

Pleasant stay.
The property was perfect for our needs as two families. It was comfortable, well maintained, well equipped and easy to find. The owner couldn't have been more helpful.
Double glaizing might help with the noise level of the nearby road which was a minor irritation.
All in all, good value....... a pleasant stay.
This property is lovely and very spacious. All kitted out with essentials. Close to Penistone where there was nice cafe’s. We went for lunch at Ye Olde Mustard Pot and this was yummy. Nice decking area and hot tub is an added bonus. The only thing we weren’t aware of is that the property is next door to the owners and when we were outside one evening, the owners and their friends were also using the outdoor area and pizza oven. However, this was not an issue and the property is spacious enough to have your own privacy.
A lovely location for exploring the local areas. A sensitive barn conversation done to a really high standard with lovely grounds and access to local shops and lots to do. The new addition of the hot tub was a nice touch.
Such a beautiful place. We booked last minute with our 4 children and 2 dogs and were not disappointed. Location is fantastic..very rural but lots of shops and attractions very close by and the owner could not have been more helpful. Thank you for a lovely stay !
We were a bit surprised it was so close to the main road but once inside the traffic was not an issue. Sitting out at the back in warm sunshine looking over the countryside was delightful. The Yorkshire Sculpture Park - our reason for choosing the property - is a short drive away.

Comfortable, well equipped property.
We stayed here for a weekend in September and found the accommodation to be excellent. It was spacious and comfortable and had everything you needed. The location was good, with a nearby reservoir which was great for dog walking and plenty of amenities within a few minutes drive. Highly recommend staying here.

Lovely historical Midhopstone cottage
We really enjoyed our stay at Midhope cottage. Beautiful accommodation, lots of room, well equipt, great historical renovation of the old original barn to cottage.
The owner Andrew was quite friendly and helpful, courteous. Lovely yard, flowers, backyard dining area, kids playhouse etc.
The only draw back that we found with this property is the noise. It is on a very busy roadway, and traffic starts early at 5 am. We were there for one of the hottest summers on record, so had all the windows open for air, traffic was very loud. Too bad, such a lovely place and this was our only small fault we could find, otherwise lovely cottage.

Welcome weekend retreat
Beautiful cottage, double rooms very spacious. Didn't appreciate actually on A616 but that is clear when you receive directions. Road noisy but when a large amount of snow this reduced!! Great walking from the door to local reservoir, and local pubs had really tasty food and good beer and wine.
Lovely open fire, only one bag of logs supplied though, advised could be got at garage which we did but they were wet!! Shame not a dry supply could purchase from owner.
Landlord away but very helpful when we contacted him.

Fun comfortable stay for the whole family.
For two young families travelling together this property was ideal. Clean and spacious inside with plenty of wide open spaces for the kids to run around. The kids really enjoyed the playhouse and we all loved making pizzas with the brilliant woodfired pizza oven.
There was great access to some beautiful countryside and we were thankful for the tourist information and local knowledge the owners had put together for people staying at the house.
Many thanks again for the warm welcome and pleasant stay!

Well equipped house on the edge of the Peaks
Lovely bedrooms and living areas and even managed to sit out on the deck. The pizza oven outside, very kindly lit by Mr Harrison, was great fun! There was certainly plenty of room for 6 of us.
The local pub, 5 minutes walk away, is supposed to be excellent but it was closed due to an electrical fault!

Beautiful house in a beautiful location!
An amazing house in a great location with beautiful scenery. We had a lovely time and Andrew was very accommodating. The only thing which could have made it better would be having the kitchen and bathroom stocked with some basics like oil, sugar, salt, pepper, hand wash etc. We will definitely consider staying here again!

Great weekend
Everything was perfectly fine. No complaints and had a most enjoyable weekend. Didn't need to go and get anything, apart from food and drink, as everything was in the barn. Lovely decking outside and lovely view.

our stay
Lovely cottage, lots of space and beautifully done out. Everything we required and super friendly owners. We were able to stay the days we needed and weren't forced into the usual Saturday to Saturday routine. Will definitely be going back next year.
About the host

Gillian and I converted Midhope Lodge ourselves from farm buildings. It took us 7 years working full time and without any help other than a plasterer. Because we worked on the barn ourselves we had time to get to know the buildings and change our plans as we went along making this a fabulous building and grounds. Midhope Lodge is split into 2, we live in one half and the other half, which is totally separate, is rented out for holiday accommodation.
Why they chose this property
Midhopestones is a small village on the edge of the Peak Park with the river Porter running through. During the summer there is well dressing at the village well. Our only pub is call "Ye Olde Mustard Pot" and has a restaurant, Oak beams, Stone walls and log fires in winter.
The village is surrounded by moors and reservoirs with marked paths and trails for walking and cycling. It's just a short drive to Sheffield centre and other nearby places to visit including National mining museum (take a trip underground - free), Cannon Hall Farm ( as featured on BBC) Holmfirth (famous for the TV Series "Last of the Summer Wine"), Ladybower and Derwent Dams (WW2 Dambusters), Magna (Huge Steel works museum), Kelham Island Musem just to mention a few.
What makes this property unique
Midhope Lodge is within a small holding often with a few sheep, and Chickens wandering freely. Eggs Available most times. Our Hot Tub is available all year round and seats up to 6 people. Wood fired Pizza oven and BBQ are always available.
