Absolutely wonderful location and spectacular view
Casa Laura is located at extremely beautiful place with marvellous scenery over the Pieve Fosciana town and mountains close by. House itself is great, well furnished and equipped, we simply didn't need anything extra during our visit. Definitely a place worth of money and I can warmly recommend this to the others.

Thank you for your positive feedback, we are delighted you enjoyed your stay and have recommended Casa Laura to other travellers. We pride ourselves in offering such a comprehensive level of furnishings and equipment for our guests to make use of. Casa Laura is our home for a large portion of the year so we feel by offering a wide range of facilities and equipment, it becomes as much your home as it is ours during your stay.
We hope to welcome you back to Sillico sometime in the future.
We had a great week in this villa. The property is well equipped, with lovely outdoor terrace and garden. Two minutes walk from the local restaurant which we highly recommend. The local walks are well signposted and definitely worth doing. Yvonne made us feel very welcome. We would highly recommend this property.

Very glad to hear that you all had a good holiday and that Casa Laura provided everything that you needed for your stay.
We stayed ten nights at Casa Laura and had a lovely time. The weather was mixed but that didn’t matter. Beautiful walks signposted from the village were great for exploring the amazing Chestnut Woods. The views and sunsets were stunning. A great peaceful house in a beautiful village, high in the mountains. Yvonne was nearby if you needed anything. .

Very glad to hear that you both had an enjoyable stay and that the village and Casa Laura provided everything that was necessary for a good holiday.
The six of us had a wonderful stay in this beautiful place perched on a Tuscany hilltop. The house is well equipped, clean and comfortable, and the nearby village restaurant/bar/grocery shop is very convenient and friendly. We enjoyed relaxing on the terrace, hiking nearby, and doing occasional day trips to Pisa and Lucca. The kids loved the pool, and we tried out making pizzas in the outside oven. Yvonne was a wonderful host - she helped out when our arrival plans became unexpectedly complicated, was available to answer questions and give recommendations, and made us feel very welcome.
Our big family with 4 kids aged between 9 and 18 really enjoyed the stay in Sillico at this nicely maintained and furnished house. Despite the hottest week of the year the thick walls kept the heat out of the house. The sheltered terrace with the pool near by was our most preferred place to be after beautiful walks and hikes in the mountains.any nice walks and hikes start next to the house. The pizza oven worked very well and was easy to operate. The magnificent view across the valley is deeply impressive which one can also be admired from the pool. All in all it was a terrific time.

Many thanks for taking the time to write the review. Very glad that your pizzas' turned out well. Our range of walking paths suit all abilities and are a great addition to the village, I'm glad you enjoyed them and that we were able to provide a good base for your holiday.
We really loved the house, swim pool and area. A lot of hikes possible from te house. Visits to Lucca, Pisa, Florence etc all duable although keep in account you first need to descend the mountain which will take you around 15-20 minutes. A lot of animals in the area too, so if you drive back in late evening you might spot boars, deers, foxes and we even saw some cows. The owner is very friendly, kind and helpful in all ways. We loved to bake our own pizzas in the pizza oven. We were lucky we could enjoy the yearly medical festival of the village Sillico, which is a lovely village and they have a nice restaurant which is also selling bread, cheese, meet (almost every day). Supermarktes in the village downhill, one coop a bit expensive, the other next to each much cheaper and has good quality too.
Overall, the accommodation is very well equipped. For example, the kitchen equipment leaves nothing to be desired, even for ambitious cooking activities (e.g. the large 5-burner gas stove). This is not a house "just made up for a few summer guests" but a fully furnished permanent residence. The friendly landlady takes care of her guests in advance and is always easily accessible during the stay (if neccessary).
The location of the house offers a fantastic view to the sun set behind the distant mountains. The small village of Sillico is very picturesque, quiet and in no way overcrowded with tourists.
Ideal for a quiet individual holiday at a high level (of altitude as well as of residence standard).

Thank you for this lovely review. Making our guests feel at home, even when they are away is something we strive for. I hope to be able to welcome you all back some time in the future.
Our family of 5(Wife, daughter, son in law and grandson) have just spent a wonderful, relaxing 10 days in this terrific house.
The house is located at the top of a mountain, beside a medieval village (Silico) and it has the most amazing views out onto the Tuscan alps. Sunset with a whisky just beating early morning.
It is well maintained, clean and Yvonne was on hand to welcome us, ensure we settled in comfortably and provide lots of information on things to do.
We used the house as our base, while we visited Pisa, Barga and many local villages. We also visited Levanto on the Cinque Terre(Amazing, as reccomended by Yvonne)On other days, we relaxed by the pool and took walks around the village, our favourite being no 3.
We really enjoyed the pool and used it daily, to cool down from the heat.
We would recommend this house for families and people who are looking to have a relaxing stay in beautiful location.
We were lucky enough to experience the Dinner provided by the locals in the village piazza. Thanks Yvonne and Delfo for taking care of us.

We are so glad that you all had an enjoyable holiday and that the villa, village and surrounding area lived up to your expectations.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. The area is indeed perfect for hiking as well as a base for exploring the beautiful countryside of La Garfagnana and cities such as Lucca and Florence. When the Porcini mushrooms arrive, as they did in abundance last week, it naturally causes an increase in traffic especially early in the morning. I’m sorry that you found that disturbing and that your holiday coincided with an exceptional, unprecedented number of mushroom hunters…

Obviously we are very sorry to have this feedback. Communication was one of the few things that you liked. I wish you had mentioned the toilet problem and the apparent lack of cleanliness of the kitchen at some stage over the two weeks and our various conversations and text messages. They both could have easily been rectified.

I'm very glad that Casa Laura provided a comfortable base for your Easter break and that you both plus the four legged family member enjoyed the surrounding countryside.
Our aim has always been for Casa Laura to be home away from home for our guests, it seems we have acheived this. We hope to be able to welcome you back some time in the future.

Thank you for taking the time to review our villa. I'm glad you had a good holiday and you felt at home. Thank you for your comment regarding the kitchen equipement, we will take a fresh look at it and see what improvements we can make. Many thanks Yvonne
We, a family of five with three teenagers, stayed a week at the lovely and comfortable house of Yvonne. It was a quiet and perfect place for a Covid-proof holiday. The scenery is amazing, so is the old village of Sillico and we really enjoyed the daily view and sunset at the Apennines. Yvonne is a nice and helpful host, who made us feel very welcome in her house. Thank you!
Danke

Thank you for taking the time to write the review. We are very happy that you all enjoyed your holiday and that Casa Laura and the surrounding area offered all the correct elements for a relaxing break.

About the host
Hosted by Yvonne Melli
We are Yvonne and Delfo Melli, your hosts. We came to the Garfagnana on holiday, fell in love with the area and were subsequently in a position to return and buy Casa Laura. We bought it as our holiday home but once Delfo retired we decided to leave the UK and make the permanent move to Italy. Fortunately, a decision that we haven’t regretted. Casa Laura is our home during the winter months and during the summer we live a few kilometres away in a small hamlet above Sillico. We have a passion for growing our own vegetables and a love of cooking, open spaces, walking, nature and history. All of which is possible and on the doorstep in this beautiful part of Italy.
Why they chose this property
We bought Casa Laura because firstly we fell in love with the spectacular views and secondly because of Sillico and it’s ideal geographical location. The village is small but full of character and history. It still has, unlike many of the villages in this area a thriving community which welcomed us from day one. It has a popular restaurant, bar and small shop. A short drive down from this idyllic mountain retreat and you are in Pieve Fosciana or Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, the capital of the Garfagnana where there are numerous supermarkets, restaurant, bars and local shops.
What makes this property unique
Because for half of the year Casa Laura is our home perhaps it’s not surprising that many of our guests comment upon how much the house feels like ” a home from home” during their stay. Popular tourist destinations such as Lucca, Pisa and Florence are all easily accessible whilst Casa Laura set within beautiful countryside has the perfect outside dining, swimming pool and garden to relax in. Because we live here all year round we have an in-depth knowledge of the area and it’s amenities and we are on hand as much as required to answer any queries and assist in whatever way we can to ensure our guests have an enjoyable and memorable stay.
