About this property
Lovely Home, Amazing Locale - business licence # 24-156032
Our home is a beautiful house located on a quiet, two block, family oriented cul-de-sac street. The main floor has 9 foot ceilings and two main floor bedrooms with a double murphy bed in one (this bedroom could double as an office), and a twin captain's bed and custom elevated cloud bed in the other. Walk through the kitchen and upstairs to a spacious master with a queen size bed, day bed, en-suite bathroom with shower, and a 150 sq foot deck that overlooks the backyard and has clear mountain views. On the main level, the back family room with its large windows, flows nicely into the backyard's lovely garden, lawn, and patio, where you'll find a relaxing cherub fountain frequented by local and migrating songbirds, a grill (BBQ), a kid's playhouse, beautifully made swing-set and monkey bars, coupled with a cool evening place to hang.
The house is equipped with ceiling speakers in the living room and kitchen and sonos play speaker in the back room and upstairs to add your favourite music to your stay. There is a cozy family room a the back with a TV with Disney, Amazon Prime, and Netflix streaming services.
The house is located 2 blocks from Trout Lake and John Hendry Park, home to the popular Trout Lake Farmer's Market. Trout Lake, as well as having a great little life guarded beach and concession, has a new fully equipped community center, 3 tennis courts, an outdoor basketball and ball hockey court, two great playgrounds, and regular activities like live music, ethnic festivals, festival of lights, and local fire swingers / jugglers .
The heart of Commercial Drive, a street well known for it's variety of ethnic cuisine, shopping opportunities, and people watching, is 3 blocks West and a short walk north. There is a skytrain station within a 10 minutes walk from the house that opens access to Vancouver's vast public transit system, getting you downtown in 12 minutes, and virtually anywhere in the lower mainland that you want to go. It is an eight minute car ride to get downtown, and an 8 minute car ride to get onto Highway #1 which will take you straight to the North Shore, leading to Squamish and Whistler. The location is great for being tucked into a quiet little neighbourhood, but only minutes to access all Vancouver and surrounding areas have to offer.
You'll find family oriented and pleasant neighbours on the entire street.

About the host
Hosted by Jonathan & Kathy Tenta
That picture was taken in 2016 in front of Salmon Glacier, near Hyder Alaska. We bought a 1981 Chevy RV and travelled 9500km through our wonderful province of British Columbia to Dawson City Yukon, and then back down the other side of BC. It was an amazing way to spend time with our young family, while another family was enjoying our home and everything the city of Vancouver offers.
Why they chose this property
This house is situated in an area that gives a glimpse at what city communities are capable of. The dead end street is quiet from traffic, but alive with the vigours of a community in the middle of Canada's second largest city. You are 8 minutes walk from the skytrain, 20 minutes walk from commercial drive where the ethnic cuisine possibilities are endless and 4 minutes walk from the enormous John Hendry Park, which hosts Vancouver's major Trout Lake Farmers Market every Saturday from 9:00 - 2:00, and has a lifeguarded lake with a concession, a fully equipped Community Center, tennis courts, basketball and road hockey court. A network of bike routes passes right through the John Hendry Park where you can access the seawall to get to Granville Island, English Bay and Stanley Park with little or no riding on city streets.
What makes this property unique
The house has an old brick chimney going right up through the center of the house, and big old local fir posts and beam separating the living room from the kitchen. An AC unit has been added to keep the house a comfortable temperature as our summers heat up.
Combined with the nine foot ceilings you have an open space while also maintaining a cozy cottage feel. We love how the back family room and it's eight foot windows flows into the back yard, especially with our two and four year old's adventurous zeal. Most of the summer is spent with that back door open. On a nice evening, the large upper deck equipped with a big solid table and a sun shade lends a great view over John Hendry Park to the North Shore Mountains. This is the spot to go over the day's experiences, while sipping on a warm or cool drink. You'll love it.
