About this property

Mountaineer Cabin 5 - 3 Bdrm with Hot Tub close to New River Gorge National Park

Rustic cabin 7 miles from New River Gorge Bridge in a secluded wooded area. This charming 3-bedroom cabin sleeps 8 with two queen bedrooms, a full-size bedroom, a sleeper sofa, & 2 full bathrooms. Full kitchen with open living room. Amenities include private hot tub, grill (propane & charcoal), and outdoor fire pit. Large front deck has rocking chairs beside hot tub. 10-minute drive to Adventures on the Gorge (AOTG), 12 minutes to downtown Fayetteville, & 25 minutes to ACE Adventure Lake.

Our cozy, quaint cabin includes two bedrooms with a queen bed and a bedroom with a full size bed. Living room area has pullout couch and multiple chairs with a 50in smart TV. There is two full bathrooms in the unit. We provide towels and linens. Shampoo, conditioner, & body wash is provided. The living room & kitchen area are open with a dining table perfect for groups of 6-8. The kitchen is fully equipped with gas stove, oven, refrigerator, coffee maker, and basic cooking utensils. Basic cleaning supplies are provided under the kitchen sink. Each cabin has internet, air conditioning, & parking right beside unit.

Cell phone service in this area may be spotty. We are located in rural West Virginia which has its advantages & disadvantages. Starlink has recently been installed in this cabin with better internet access being reported since installation.

This cabin has its own private, gravel driveway and is out of sight from all our other cabins. Please note that this gravel driveway has a slight incline that some low clearance, 2-wheel drive cars could have issues with during snowstorms. We do plow during the winter and significant snow is fairly rare but worth noting.

We do not have a washer/dryer listed on our amenities, however, we do have a shared washroom with washer/dryer that guests may use when it is not in use by our cleaning staff. This room is used as a staging area by our cleaning staff to service all 6 of our cabins. During the day at least one of the washer/dryer units is typically in use by our cleaning staff, if not both. Both are generally open during the morning & evening. The wash room is located beside cabin 1, has two washers/dryers, and has laundry supplies that the guests may use free of charge. Please note no washers/dryers are in the cabins. The facilities are available as a curtesy to our guests.

Each cabin has its own private hot tub. We empty, clean, and refill our hot tubs after each stay. For this reason, there is a chance that the hot tub will not be up to full temperature immediately after checking in, especially if a guest checked out that morning. It generally only takes a couple hours at most but may be a little longer during the colder months. Please do not push hot tub buttons attempting to heat it quicker. Hot tubs have many locks (kid, eco etc…). You may lockout or shutdown the heating process by pushing the wrong button.

All of the cabins have an outdoor fire pit area with a picnic table. Firewood is not provided but is sold at Walmart, Kroger, Lowe’s and the Exxon station by I19. This cabin has a propane grill on the front porch with propane included. Additional propane tanks can be found at our shared washroom area next to cabin 1 in a closet next to the entry door.

We do allow well-behaved, small-medium sized dogs (50 pounds or less) for a $50.00 additional cleaning fee. No cats. 2 dogs maximum. Guests are expected to dispose of their dogs waste before leaving. There is an outdoor trashcan near the walkway of the cabin. All pets must be listed on the reservation when booking and housebroken. Failure to include your pet in the reservation will result in fines.

Our cabins are less than 10 minutes away from the newest National Park! The New River Gorge offers world class whitewater, rock climbing, mountain biking, ziplining, hiking, fishing, bird watching, and more! The gorge provides some of the most beautiful scenery on the east coast. Fayetteville West Virginia, voted top 10 coolest small towns in America, is a short 15 minute drive from the cabins and has lots of great local restaurant options. Our welcome guide includes food and activity recommendations during your stay.

There was some confusion with the the cleaning lady, as when we arrived at 325pm, she was still there cleaning. She told me that check in was 4pm, so we had to wait. Also finding the place is entirely too difficult. I do not want to solve a riddle to find lodging. Just drop a Google pin or use the address thats on the neighbor's mailbox...The driveway is also terrible. Huge potholes on the entrance and on the turn down to the property.Minus all that, it was clean, very clean. Beds were comfy and there was plenty of towels.I'd love to give this place a better rating, but the location and driveway issues are a lot...

This was our second stay at the property. It’s rustic, super affordable and located in the heart of all the New River Gorge activities. The property is in the woods and secluded which is exactly what you want in a cabin stay!

Other than the beds NOT all being Queen size as stated....

This property is great, very clean and enjoyable, except for the fact the owners claim to have 3 queen size beds is false. This cabin has 2 queen beds and 1 full size bed (the frame on the full size seems to be wide enough for a queen, but the mattress and bed rails are definitely a full size). This with the fact that myself and both my sons are well over six foot tall was a major problem; we managed but even the foot board on the full size prohibited my son from "hanging" his feet over the end, he had to sleep catty-corner. So, it is very puzzling why the owner would make this blatantly incorrect statement? Also, ignore the written instructions for connecting to the wi-fi and look on the back of the router instead, it has apparently been replaced but the posted instructions have not been updated. Outside of these problems I would have given 5-star ratings and our stay would have been perfect otherwise.

Great Cabin

Great Cabin. Very clean and spacious. Check in was simple. Hot tub was great after long days in New River Gorge. Grabbed a beer and bite down the street at Freefolk Brewery and spent a lot of time at the park. Cant beat the price for everything you get at this cabin.

The house was very clean and Paul responded quickly when we had an issue. It is stocked well and the beds were comfortable. The main issue we had was the road noise behind the house. But if noise doesn't bother you it's a nice place.

Missing Touches

This was a fine property but important touches of hospitality and communication were missing. To not have a single trashcan liner in the kitchen or a single dish towel was awkward and could be so easy for you to provide. Instructions for the hot tub would have allowed us to use it on our first day. The promise of fresh towels was nice but they were not available. I would have liked to have known laundry was in a different property before booking.

Secluded Feeling

Although about 5 minutes from Rt. 19, the location of the rental has a nice forest view from the deck with no neighbors in sight. The floor plan accommodated my group of five well and, upon arrival, the cabin was exceptionally clean- it even smell nice. If it is important to you, the outdoor are was every bit as nice as the cabin itself.

Decent Cabin

This cabin worked out well for our family trip to the New River Gorge area. The distance to the Canyon Rim visitor center and Fayetteville was perfect, just 10-15 minutes. The other park visitor centers were further south by 30 minutes to around an hour and a half. So this isn’t a central location for all of the park, but it is close to the main canyon viewpoint. Our main issue with the cabin was the lack of signage at the long driveway for our cabin, number 5. The owner sent a detailed explanation with directions, which was appreciated, but still caused some confusion and a few tries to find it because the driveway is shared with another private home and is very unassuming. A sign at the driveway would have saved us a few minutes of backtracking.

Great Home, Difficult to Locate

Overall, the stay was great. The cabin was comfortable, there was hot water, plenty of towels and pillows, and most comforts and necessities of home. The cabin was difficult to find but the owner was accessible and helpful. The floors and small bathroom rugs could have been cleaner. My only disappointment was that the listing included a washer and dryer in amenities but neither were present. I did not bring enough clothes with me and had to buy some at Walmart. I didn’t have the time to visit a public laundromat.

Romantic getaway

We had a wonderful time and no complaints about the property!! Just a few things for others considering or staying at this property…1. It is right beside the main road. It wasn’t a big deal and the traffic noise wasn’t bad especially not at night. 2. Turn the hot tub temp up as soon as you get there if you want to enjoy it your first evening. 3. There are some carpenter bees on the deck that are a little intimidating at first but completely harmless 4. There is only 1 television and it is located in the living room. 5. Despite an earlier review the road is fine. Our car is basically a sports car and we had no issue getting to the house. We had a wonderful stay and would absolutely stay here again!
