Gwinn- Little Lake - Pristine Lakeside Home. Great all season getaway!
Just steps away from sandy frontage, lies this home in the beautiful north woods of Northern Michigan. Northern Lights are easily viewed from the deck. Three bedrooms and two baths, plus a lovely open kitchen and living room, provide plenty of room for wonderful family gatherings. Dishwasher, microwave, washer and dryer offer convenient living amenities. A deck, fire pit, standup paddle board, canoe, kayaks, and dock allow for easy lake access. The lake is known for great swimming, fishing and boating. The lake is a 400 acre lake with two islands. Sandbars are available near the islands for docking boats and swimming. Mehl Lake is accessible via an inlet by small boats. The lake is stocked with walleye, though bass and smaller pan fish are abundant. Boat launch is close by. Less than a mile from the house is a snowmobile and four-wheeling trail. Twenty minutes to Marquette and 60 minutes to Pictured Rocks. Pet Friendly!

The property is the quintessential lake house on a pristine lake in MIchigan’s Upper Peninsula. It’s decorated nicely, maintained well, and had all the comforts of home, including a “welcome” array of snacks made in MI. The owners left no detail to chance for their guests so we could cook in their well-appointed kitchen, enjoy a class of wine on their perfect lakeside deck, stream some programs, and sleep comfortably. The lake home is an easy, short drive to get groceries or anything you might have forgotten to pack. Friendly and responsive hosts. Highly recommend.
We had a great stay on Little Lake. The home is quiet and clean with plenty of room for adults and kids. The lake is wonderful, clean and sandy. We loved having use of the kayaks and canoe. This place is close enough to fun and entertainment but feels very secluded and restful. Would highly recommend for families!
Didn’t see Bigfoot or the Northern Lights, but we enjoyed the house and the area. The house was well insulated and airtight. I enjoyed cooking in well stocked kitchen.
We had a wonderful time at Little Lake. We pretty much had the lake to ourselves. We enjoyed kayaking, star gazing, campfire, playing games and doing puzzles. We took a few day trips to Munising, Marquette and Houghton. We appreciated the snacks from the hosts . The house and location were perfect!
Dave and Gina's home is very welcoming and has so many great details for comfort. There is a breezeway you enter to go ingo the home where we kept our bin of water toys and where the kayak and other boating paddles and lifejackets were, plus they provided some toys. It leads into a large landry area - bonus! Drop off any towels and suits from day trips to presque isle right there. Huge size washer and dryer! Soap and dryer sheets were there and dirty landry bins in master bath and by dryer. Kitchen is large and lots of seating and open to the family room. Plenty of kitchen tools, silverware and dishes. There was soap, trashbags, cleaning supples (if needed), spices, and a lighter for the firepit. Plenty for a party of 8. The seating area and pennisula open to the sliding door, which offers stunning views of the lake. Sun sets to the left and is very pretty. You can cook and not feel separated from your guests at all. A nice nook also where guests are welcomed with stuff for smores, popcorn and coffee pods/hot chocolate. The back deck is big with plenty of seating, and with plenty of trees you don't get too hot. Bedrooms werwereice size, BIG closets, tastefully decorated. Lots of extra blankets snd pillows available. Bathrooms were clean with everything needed. BIG fluffy towels! Beds were super comfy.Kayaks were so fun to paddle - little lake is quite large. Lots of woods, quiet and restful. Swim area is very shallow. Loved loved loved our stay!
Being able to be outside on the deck and looking at the beautiful lake was amazing! The hosts were generous with water equipment and fire pit supplies and were overall extremely responsive.
We had a wonderful time. The house layout was perfect for what we needed. Great deck, cool lake, and a lot of fun with in range of driving. We will definitely be back.
We had a wonderful time. The house looks to be recently renovated and is very cute and nicely decorated. The kitchen was stocked and there was even wood for the fire pit. They even provide marshmallows, chocolate & graham crackers to make smores! It was very clean, check in and out was easy, the house was centrally located, easy to find & right on the lake!. We will definitely be back.
We had a wonderful week at this lakeside cabin with our two children. The cabin was clean and well-appointed, and furnished with everything needed. The lake was beautiful and serene, and a great place to unwind. The location was perfect for taking side trips around the UP, such as to Marquette and Munising, and nearby hiking trails. Owners were very responsive and communicative throughout!

Good, Location, Clean, Responsive Hosts, Home & furntiure showing some wear, lake was quiet
Out of a 5 scale, Location (4.5), Setting (4.0), Lake a bit shallow, but quiet (4.0), Home (modular) is showing ware (4.0) Furnishings, also showing wear, (3.5), Hosts (4.5), very responsive.
The property was so nice! The kids had a blast swimming in the lake and loved using the longboard that was there. The house is beautiful, supplied with lots of kitchen utensils, and plenty of space for the 4 of us. We made a fire in the fire pit but didn’t stay outside long since mosquitoes were so bad.
Everything was perfect except the mosquitoes were plentiful! Lol.
We still had a very nice time and loved that it’s a private location…quiet, peaceful, and lovely.
We spent 3 days and really enjoyed it. The house was immaculate. Well stocked kitchen and comfortable beds. Looking out over the lake every morning was so relaxing.
Didn't have time for fishing as we were on a mission to see color changes. It was beautiful up north. Especially h58 highway between munising and grand maris. October 17 to 20. We hit the peak just right. Also had fun finding water falls and cool rocks. Couldn't ask for a better time. We definately would stay here again.
We had a wonderful time at Little Lake. The house was clean, very well-stocked and perfect for our two families (bunk room for teen boys, plus a king room and a queen room). The owners were super responsive with my minor questions.
The somewhat remote location right on the lake is nice. It would be great for kids, with a small but mostly flat waterfront. The lake appears to have a sandy bottom, and at the end of the pier it was probably only a couple feet deep, so nice for younger kids. The deck has plenty of furniture for quite a few people.
The house was ok, note it is a manufactured or prefab home. The kitchen is a nice size and the living room furniture is newer. There is a nice tray of items for s'mores, and some treats, which is nice. Location is good for exploring, about an hour from Pictured Rocks. It’s between 2.5 hour drive to Porcupine Mountain and Copper Harbor.
On the other hand, there is deferred maintenance that needs to be done (burnt bulbs, including microwave which makes stovetop cooking a bit harder, towel holder coming off wall, broken stopper in sink, taped on tile trim in bath, horribly loud fan in bathroom, etc.). It would be nice to have a welcome binder as most places do, with info about location, local restaurants, wifi code (told to locate it on bottom of router), etc. just to make it more convenient for guests.
The property was perfect for our short trip up north. We had everything we needed, including all the water toys. Dave and Gina were perfect hosts with great communication. Thank you!
The house is perfect for any occasion. Cleanliness A+. It does say in the amenities that there is air conditioning. There is not, but there were many fans to use. The lake is gorgeous, house very spacious, and met all expectations. We will definitely be back.

About the host
Hosted by Dave & Gina Sorensen
Dave & Gina have lived in the Marquette area for the past 24 years. Dave grew up in the Flint area of Michigan and fell in love with Marquette when he attended NMU for his undergraduate degree. After finishing his Doctor of Pharmacy from Michigan, his dream was to return to the U.P. to live as he fell in love with Lake Superior and all the opportunities to hunt and fish. Gina has lived her entire life in the Upper Peninsula. She attended NMU for her undergraduate and has Master degrees from Central Michigan University and Viterbo University. She now teaches high school English at her alma mater in Negaunee. Dave and Gina owned a camp in the Munising area for 13 years prior to the purchase of this home. The Sorensen's favorite times are spent on the lake.
Why they chose this property
Dave and Gina purchased this lakeside home in July of 2016 because they love spending time near water. Dave and Gina owned a camp in the Munising area for 13 years prior to the purchase of this home, but decided to purchase a place closer to their home because of the age of their children and their busy family life. The house has been newly remodeled and features all the amenities of home with an amazing lake view and sandy beach front. The sunsets are incredible! This home is perfect as it has wonderful boating and fishing opportunities too.
What makes this property unique
The Sorensen's favorite activities while staying at their lakeside home are boating with family and friends, fishing, sitting around the fire pit and gazing at the stars and Northern Lights, and taking long walks in the woods.
