I've stayed in countless holiday apartments and cottages throughout the Lakes and would say that I enjoyed the view and the quiet from Chapel Cottage the most.On a clear crisp February morning, the village below with the backdrop of the other side of the valley is stunning. The cottage has everything you need. It is more traditional that flash so don't expect absolute luxury but it's super cosy downstairs but has a spacious kitchen and three double bedrooms, one with an ensuite.Askham is just over a mile away with two great pubs and the Michelin restaurant at Askham Hall. That said, the Queens Head now only does pizzas and Askham Hall is up for sale. Had a couple of solid 'pub grub' meals at the Punchbowl.Plenty of walks- Pooley Bridge is about 4 miles away, there are the eastern fells to explore, Haweswater/Bampton and a nice walk along the river Lowther to Askham and beyond.I usually like to try different properties but this is one I would return to in the spring or summer to sit out the front and have a glass of wine with that amazing view.

This cottage is very comfortable and attractively furnished.
This cottage is very comfortable and attractively furnished. It contains everything you could conceivably need and want for a holiday in the Lake District. It is set in a lesser known and therefore quieter area of the Lakes, which the owners clearly know and love. They provide maps and suggested walks for visitors, plus a wealth of practical information about the beautiful cottage and local amenities.
The cottage has a thoughtfully planted front garden which attracts the late afternoon and evening sun. Perfect for enjoying a post walk cup of tea or glass of wine.

Lovely cottage and area, just a shame about the parking, also the secure garden wasn’t secure as Marley (dog) escaped over a wall and went missing for 5-10 minutes, but really liked the cottage and area

Excellent cottage in lovely position.
Excellent cottage in lovely position. It worked well for our family of 4, and including 2 teenagers, and our gundog. Lovely walks directly from the house as well as all the attractions of the Lakes.
