Studio in Chianti Villa in heart of Tuscany, super-large pool, 14 ha property

Restored from the ruin of a typical Tuscan farmhouse, Podere Scopeto sits high on a hilltop at 600 meter above sea-level (which means summer nights are just perfect outside). Scopeto overlooks woods, vineyards and the medieval towns of Radda and Castellina. The nearest town is Gaiole (20 min) in the triangle of Siena, Florence and Arezzo. It is in the middle of the Gallo Nero classic wine region with Brolio, Castello Meleto, Coltibuono on your doorstep. We have a large saltwater pool (5m x 14 m) with spacious sun terraces and pergolas which offer our guests boyant relaxation, but for the more energetic there are miles of woods and hills to walk in beyond the 30 privately owned acres surrounding the house. The Capanna has a small BBQ. We have reliable crystal clear water from our own well and faultless heating and plumbing system. From the main road you drive 2,5 km through the woods on an un-tarmaced road which is not suitable for low-slung vehicles, caravans or bikes but fine for normal cars driven slowly. We are happy to let you stay for the annual 'Eroica' traditional bike-race in October though, which takes place every year in Gaiole. The Capanna has a large sitting room with table seating four and concrete kitchen table running the length of the south-facing window which slides open with traditional brick lattice screen and view of the green jungle-like woods, cosy in winter and cool in the hot summer months. The double bed (135cm wide) is on a balcony surrounded by shelves in which to store clothes. Chinese screens close the walled cupboard. The bathroom has concrete shower floor with large shower-head and concrete table with Philippe Starck basin. Through the window you see the oval-shaped concrete table outside waiting for a large party of people to enjoy their meal shaded by an old chestnut tree with the olive grove beyond and the pool on a higher terrace. Play your favourite music resounding as in this mini concert hall and enjoy the wood-burning stove crackling in winter while you relax on winter evenings after a day exploring the area.

Bed Bugs + centipede invasion - Nice Area in the middle of nowhere but not a clean property

It’s a nice place with a nice pool, the road to go there is a bit bumpy but can be done easy. Next supermarket is 20 min away. The apartment was in a ok cleaned condition. As soon as it got dark it started that centipede went out of there places and being everywhere at the walls. You could not see them on daytime. We left after 3 nights from 6 booked ones, after we got bites from bed bugs everywhere on our feets. Afterwards we discussed with the owner about cash back due to that we could/would not stay anymore with the bites and got only 1/3 of the money back. Worst holidays in our life and didnt get the money back for the nights we couldn’t stay due to bed bugs….

Ruhige Toskana

Marina, Tom und ihre Familie waren super Gastgeber. Für jeden der auf absolute Abgeschiedenheit wert legt ist die Unterkunft perfekt. Nach einer Auffahrt in die toskanischen Hügel fährt man einen nicht befestigten Weg durch den örtlichen Dschungel, an dessen Ende sich die Einfahrt zum Anwesen befindet. Unbedingt ein Fahrzeug mit größerer Bodenfreiheit mitbringen! Vom Haupthaus gehen mehrere kleine Wege zum süß renovierten Capanna. An der Unterkunft hatten wir die 10 Übernachtungen nichts auszusetzen. Scopeto bietet sich aufgrund seiner Lage auch perfekt an für Tagesausflüge in die toskanischen Städte. Die "creepy crawlers" wie sie in der Beschreibung genannt wurden waren auch kein Problem und haben sich bei unserem Besuch wirklich in Grenzen gehalten. Alles in Allem können wir die Unterkunft unbedingt weiterempfehlen.

Kurzzeitig im Paradies

Das Haus liegt abgelegen und ist über eine sehr holperige Schotterstraße zu erreichen. Bei Ankunft wird man mit absoluter Ruhe und romantischem, toskanischen Flair belohnt! Im Vorfeld hatten wir schon Kontakt zum Vermieter, es gab wertvolle Tips und fühlte sich vertraut an. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und kommen bestimmt wieder !!! Für jemand der Urlaub ohne großen Trubel in der Natur suchten genau richtig !!! Wir sind ungern abgereist, aber leider endet jeder Urlaub einmal !!!

ultieme rust in unieke 'capanna' & huis

Zeer bijzondere en onvergetelijke plek om heerlijk tot rust te komen. Aan (of in) het geweldige zwembad, of elders op het ruime terrein onder één van de vele kastanjebomen. We hebben het geluk gehad om bij aankomst de eigenaars zelf te treffen die ons een warm en persoonlijke welkom gaven. De eerste paar dagen verbleven wij in de Capanna, wat werkelijk een 'pareltje' genoemd mag worden en onze verwachtingen overtrof. En de laatste avond hebben wij het 'geluk' gehad het Main House (dat te huur is voor grotere groepen) te kunnen bekijken en bij wijze van uitzondering van een Toscaans diner met de eigenaars hebben mogen genieten. Marina zou er evt. ook nog een B&B van kunnen maken ;-) Vanaf deze plek zijn diverse stadjes en grotere plaatsen in 30-60 min te bereiken. De laatste 2,5km over het onverharde berg(grind)pad naar de woning(en) garanderen deze oase van absolute rust. De ondergaande zon boven de Toscaanse heuvels en 's nachts een fantastische sterrenhemel, met alleen het geroep van een uil af en toe, hebben bijgedragen aan onze heerlijke tijd van onthaasten. Een absolute aanrader voor stellen, of (kleine) groepen die op zoek zijn naar een idyllisch, afgelegen huis(je) en echt de rust zoeken.

Remote location

The property's location is much more remote than advertised.. We booked it as we were attending a wedding close to Gaiole and the property description says "15 minutes from Gaiole". The 2.5 km forest road took at least 10 min to get to the main road and from there it's a minimum of 20 min to Gaiole ( if you drive Italian style). No taxi or transportation company will go to the property, so forget having a drink somewhere in town. Also, no wifi at the property and the cellular reception is also on and off. We left after one night as it was too far from anything. No word from owner

Secret hideaway in a beautiful chestnut forest...

I loved this open plan, spacious ‘Capanna’ .It was tastefully furnished with a cosy simplicity and rustic style. Great imaginative touches like the huge stone work bench in the kitchen, mezzanine bedroom and the wood burning stove made me want to stay there for ever! Not to mention the wonderful grounds with a large pool and quaint lounging area... everywhere was well maintained and carefully considered.And to top it off it was hidden away in a huge sweet chestnut forest. A wonderful place to stay !

Für Naturliebhaber, Abenteurer und Ruhesuchende.

Mitten im nichts, nach einem langen holprigen Waldweg (Auto sollte gute Bodenfreiheit haben) kommt man im Naturparadies an. Hier waren wir in der Cabanna gebucht. Konnten auch das Haupthaus besichtigen, mit viel Liebe landestypisch eingerichtet. Herrlicher Schwimmingpool. Man sollte Tolerant eingestellt sein gegenüber allen möglich Kriechtieren und Insekten. Dafür konnten wir jeden Abend einen Wald von ca 100 Glühwürmchen besichtigen. Auch hatten wir das Glück ein Nest mit Rotkehlchenjungen beobachten zu können.

Who is the One, seeking quietness instead of the hectic everyday life in office and also at home? This one really wants to sleep into the day without any disturbance and just live into the day, like it was in the old days. He really doesn‘t want to see nor hear of any strangers to disturb him. He just wants to pop up, when he likes it, and looks for his secret retreat, that no other one knows of. That‘s like it is in Scopeto! If you want it, you can be in half an hour on the Campo in Siena or in some more than an hour to Florence, just by car. You got a wonderfull, undisturbed view high up in the mountains of the Chianti, a lovely pool and a fine house for the holidays of the year. There‘s enough room for the plenty of Your‘s, but also a place to retire from the busy world. What is the price for it? The one, who likes it busy, will be at bore. The one, who wants an easy access, will curse the long and weary road. But the one, who is in the need to find Himself, he will come again and again. Philipp from Leipzig --- Wer ist es denn, der in seinem Urlaub Ruhe vor dem Alltag im Büro und seiner Hektik sucht? Dieser Zeitgenosse möchte endlich einmal ohne Störung ausschlafen und in den Tag hineinleben, wie es vor langer Zeit ganz normal war. Er möchte also weit und breit keinen fremden Menschen sehen oder hören. Er möchte nur dann ,Auftauchen‘, wenn es ihm gefällt. Und er möchte einen geheimen Rückzugsort für sich, den andere nicht kennen. So ist es in Scopeto! Wer will, ist in einer halben Stunde in Siena auf dem Campo, in einer guten Stunde in Florenz, er hat eine wunderbare, unverbaubare Aussicht hoch in den Bergen des Chianti, Pool und ein schönes Ferienhaus mit kleinem Nebengebäude, Platz für viele - aber auch die geheime Abgeschiedenheit von der geschäftigen Welt. Womit ist das erkauft? Wer es trubelig liebt, der wird sich langweilen! Wer den schnellen Zugang will, der wird den langen Weg verfluchen. Totale Enstpannung

Immer wenn wir in Scopeto ankommen legt sich sofort eine wunderbare Entspannung auf uns, dieser Ort ist was ganz besonderes, das schöne Tal mit den grünen Kastanienwäldern, das geöffnete Tal und der Blick in die Ferne mit den sanft geschwungenen Hügeln, nicht zu vergessen die Ruhe, herrlich ! Das Anwesen liegt in verschiedene Terrassen und Ebenen eingebettet und bietet für jeden Anspruch, Gemeinschaft, Rückzug, Sonnen, Baden, Kochen u.v.m. .. ideale Voraussetzungen. Die Häuser sind mit viel Liebe und Geschmack sehr persönlich eingerichtet, was es von vielen Ferienhäusern positiv unterscheidet. Gerade für eine große Gruppe, Familie, Freunde ist wirklich genug Platz. Die große Küche mit Kochinsel, das gemütliche Wohnzimmer, die Morgen-, Mittag-, und Abendterrassen lassen einen abwechslungsreichen Tageslauf "mit der Sonne" in und um das Haus zu. Die "häuslichen" Dinge wie Wäsche, Sauberkeit, Praktikabilität, Funktionalität, aber auch die Tips und hilrfreichen Beschreibungen der Vermieterin Marina Baillie lassen nichts zu wünschen übrig, man fühlt sich sehr gut betreut. Das vom Haus zu sehende kleine mittelalterliche Burgdorf Castagnoli ist sehenswert, feine Weinverkostung inkl.. Gaiole hat eine der typischten Restaurants, wie man sie sich herrlicher in der Toscana nicht vorstellen kann, ganz einfach, ganz regional, hier kocht die casalingha, man isst mit Polizisten, Bauarbeitern, englischen Expads, Familien, usw. und ist im Himmel ! Die weitere Umgebung mit den klassischen toscanischen Städten braucht man nicht weiter zu beschreiben, deshalb kommt man ja auch hierhin ! Montevarcchis Ipercoop ist ein Erlebnis für sich, nicht weniger der Prada Outlet (ja!). Und noch was; wir haben die Fahrt auf dem ziemlich langen Ziehweg immer als großen, sportlichen Spaß gesehen. Wir können das "Ferienhaus in den Bergen" nur wärmstens empfehlen !
