About the host

Host profile image
We are a local couple born and raised here in the Blue Ridge Mountains. We attended the local high school located just a few miles from the property. We own a thriving local business that has been providing jobs locally for over 12 years. We believe in our community, and make many efforts to make sure our children will enjoy this area as much as we do.

Why they chose this property

In the past, we were homeowners in a subdivided neighborhood. Our dream was to raise our children where they could run and play without the confines of fences, or traffic. We fell upon the farm by happenstance, and fell in love. We purchased the farm with 2 homes on it, and felt one make us a comfortable place to raise our children, and the other could provide lots of memories for those who come to enjoy what we call home everyday.

What makes this property unique

This home was the original farm house to the homestead. When we walked through, we knew we could bring back the charm that so many others had enjoyed over the years. We tried to re-use and recycle many of the original building components from 1939, when the house was first built. The rough saw hewn floors are original, and were restored after nearly 40 years under layers of old flooring. The original clapboard siding was restored after removing the current siding. We tried to keep as much character in the old homestead, while offering lots of new touches, such as granite, stainless steel appliances, and a walk in stone floor shower.
