About this property
Country charm meets laid-back luxury, where time slows and hairy moos roam
Nestled among the rolling hills of the Huon Valley, just two minutes from the charming township of Cygnet, the Barn is a place to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect.
Set on 40 peaceful acres, this relaxed country escape invites you to step away from the rush of everyday life and settle into a gentler rhythm — where long lunches, fresh air, and simple moments take centre stage.
At the heart of your stay is our beautifully restored 1935 apple barn, thoughtfully transformed into a warm and welcoming retreat for up to nine guests. Full of character and comfort, the Barn offers four spacious bedrooms, two bathrooms (including a waterfall shower), and a fully equipped kitchen for enjoying the incredible local produce the Huon Valley is known for.
Step outside and you’ll discover our outdoor kitchen — a special place to gather. Start your day with coffee in the fresh country air, or wind down in the evening sharing a meal as the sun sets over the paddocks.
Once a working apple orchard, the land has gently returned to a more natural rhythm. Today, the farm is home to a wild orchard, productive gardens, open paddocks, and a friendly mix of farm animals.
Guests are warmly invited to join our daily afternoon feeding tours — a simple and memorable way to experience farm life up close.
We also craft our own raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar and small-batch artisan cider right here on the farm — a true taste of the region.
Take your time wandering the property, watching the light shift across the hills, and keeping an eye out for native wildlife. If you’re lucky, you may even spot our resident platypus in one of the dams.
Explore the Huon Valley Perfectly located, the Barn is an ideal base to explore the very best of southern Tasmania. Discover nearby beaches and fishing spots (rods available on request), or take a day trip to the Tahune Airwalk, Hastings Caves, Bruny Island, or the Salamanca Markets.
The region is also renowned for its vineyards, cafes, and restaurants — or visit local farm gates and bring home fresh produce to enjoy in your own kitchen.
Discover Cygnet Just minutes away, Cygnet is a vibrant country town known for its creative spirit and beautiful setting along Port Cygnet Bay. Popular with artists and musicians, it offers a mix of galleries, studios, and welcoming cafes. Enjoy a relaxed coffee or lunch at local favourites like the Red Velvet Lounge or the Port Hole Café, or head to the Red Velvet Lounge on Friday evenings for live music and delicious food.
Cygnet also has a bakery, supermarkets, butcher, and fresh produce store, along with local pubs for an easy meal.
On the first and third Sunday of each month, the farmers market (10am–3pm) is a lovely way to experience the region’s produce and community.
For a peaceful outing, Burton’s Reserve by the water is perfect for a picnic, stroll, or time with the kids.

About the host
Hosted by Jolanda & Matthew Hall
We love sharing the farm and our story with guests. On arrival, we offer a farm tour for anyone interested, where we introduce you to the property and let you hand-feed our friendly farm animals — a fun and memorable way to start your stay.
Why they chose this property
Cygnet is a lovely town on the water, it's big enough to have all you need as in shops, galeries and cafes but small enough to still create that intimate atmosphere. We are surrounded by mountains which get covered by snow in winter and the scenery is breath taking.
What makes this property unique
The Barn is a unique blend of history, comfort, and country life. Originally built in 1935 as an apple barn, it’s now a spacious and welcoming retreat where guests can explore the wild orchard, meet farm animals, cook in the outdoor kitchen, and enjoy a slower, more connected way of life in the heart of the Huon Valley.
