Lovely, modest little pet-friendly place in a quiet pocket of Merimbula but with with easy access to everything. Fronting the creek with tree-framed views northward up the Back Lagoon, the deck is a lovely spot for sitting over a meal or a coffee or a drink. My kids enjoyed fishing off the private jetty, even landing a few nice Bream. There is wildlife to enjoy, with cheeky cockatoos, corellas and rosellas looking for a feed, to roos swimming in the lake and hopping around the yard in the evening. Our host was super responsive and friendly with comms. Kitchen is well-appointed and the beds comfy. Highly recommended for a relaxing family or couples break.
A relaxing place to stay with everything our family needed. The lakeside location and canoe were appreciated, as was the convenient location, only a short walk into town with access to the boardwalk. Thanks for a lovely stay!
Outstanding location and super quiet. Set on an estuary with stunning views and amazing birdlife. House super well set up and very comfortable bed and furniture. Felt like home away from home. Owners delightful and very responsive. Our second stay and hope we can return in the future.
This is a lovely property. Beautiful views of the from the deck while you enjoy a drink. The family and I loved this house. Very clean and well organised. Thanks!
Location was great for our family with young kids - easy walk to the beach and playground and into town. House was spotless and had everything we needed. Wonderful dinners out on the deck and entertainment from the bird feeder!
Great location with direct access to the back lake and a flat easy walk into town. Communication with owners was helpful, clear and prompt. We enjoyed our stay.
Love staying here. Kitchen well stocked with everything needed. Easy walk to town. Paddling around in the lake and having a fish. New steps down to jetty area is a welcome addition. We’ll be back.
Had a fabulous holiday with the family. House was very clean. Provided a great kitchen with all the extras. Great view from deck, enjoyed a fish off jetty and loved the availability of a canoe. Overall great time was had. Thanks Susan.👍
This was our second stay at this property. It is a quality property with quality furniture and appliances. The host provides everything that you could possibly need to enjoy your stay including bird seed for the regular cockatoos. The host is very helpful with local knowledge. We really enjoy the view from the lounge, dining room and outdoor deck over the back lake. It is an easy picturesque walk into the coffee shops in town. I am sure we will be back for a third time.
This was the most well-equipped rental holiday house we have stayed in. We loved the comfortable beds, the well-equipped kitchen, the quality appliances and watching Netflix on the TV. But most of all we loved the idyllic, picturesque setting. We loved sitting on the deck and seeing the light reflect off of the water or sitting on the private jetty and watching the sun rise over the lake. We loved the peace and quiet and watching the birds come and eat. Also short walk to beach and town..
This house had everything that we wanted and needed (including electric beaters!). The house was clean and the kitchen well stocked with plenty of plates/cooking equipment/condiments. The beds were comfortable and warm with electric blankets. The deck was glorious all throughout the day with lots of birds in the surrounding trees. Highly recommend this house and the hosts were very helpful.
Within 10 minutes of arriving at Lakefront Retreat we had the cheeky cockatoos, a kookaburra, lorikeets and bellbirds on the fantastic deck and a family of 3 kangaroos on the grass area below. What a welcome! We loved our stay. The house was clean and comfortable and we slept very well after our days exploring the beautiful Merimbula area. We especially loved Bar Beach, Spencer Park and Short Point where we were thrilled to watch a whale breaching. Amazing. The house location is perfect. A short walk or drive to all the area has on offer and the peace and tranquility we were searching for. Having a tawny frogmouth with her 2 babies in the tree outside our bedroom window was the icing on the cake. Thank you Sue and Steve for sharing your little piece of paradise with us and our furbaby.
We really enjoyed our stay. Lakefront retreat is a quality older property with quality furnishings. The beds were really comfortable and warm. Everything is supplied to make your stay comfortable. The canoe got my 12-year-old grandson off his computer games and out on the lake. The winter sun streams through the windows and it was warm enough to enjoy the sun and views out on the deck. What I really liked was sitting on the sofa in the warm lounge and watching the sun rise over the lake.
We loved our stay. The huge deck overlooking the estuary with bush all around was bliss. We saw the kangaroos swimming across from one side to the other and at many other times opposite the house or bounding past. At night we could hear the surf. It was so peaceful. As others have mentioned, the kitchen is very well equipped. Fantastic to be able to walk from the house to the Mundooi walk. It was just the break we needed. Thanks. Hopefully we'll be back!
There is so much to say about the Lakehouse it's difficult to find a starting point. Firstly, the view...its serene and picture postcard. Sitting on the wharf watching the sun set with our little dogs exploring the shoreline...the kids waiting patiently to spot a member of the local kangaroo mob crossing the lake was wonderful. The house is well equipped and the kitchen is so easy to prep meals in with everything you need to dine in or lay out a take away. The deck was perfect for breakfast and any time of the day we stopped for a cup of tea or a G&T. The Lakehouse was peaceful and offered us a well earned break from the city. Merimbula is stunning...we cannot wait to come back.
