My cousin and I rented this property recently for a family visit and it was just perfect! The cabin looks s rustic yet has modern and beautiful upgrades, making this feel like home away from home. We met the owners who are lovely as are their pups, Emmitt and Harper! We can’t wait to return and will make this our go to location for all future east TN visits!
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at this cabin. It is a beautiful property with a gracious hostess. We were in close proximity to the different state parks we wanted to visit. The cabin was clean, cute, and had everything we needed for the weekend.

Justin:
Thank you for the kind review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay, you are welcome to stay anytime.
Thanks again !
Cabin was cozy, perfect for 2 people, and well appointed. The hosts were next door and perfectly present when needed, but otherwise unobtrusive. Proximity to great hiking, marvelous fireplace, and a great loft all make this historic spot a gem.
We chose this property because it was close to the Museum of Appalachia. We enjoyed staying in a place that had so much character as an antique cabin. I would highly recommend it but perhaps mention that the bedroom & restroom were on different floors.
My husband. & I spent 2 nights at the Foust cabin & loved it. Historic Log cabin but w modern features- YouTube TV, Alexa ,a/c. Small kitchen w mini frig, full size stove, microwave & keurig. Stone fireplace is beautiful. King bed in loft was comfy. Bathroom is on main floor so middle of the night trips to bathroom requires going downstairs- didn’t bother us but others may want to know. Drank coffee on front porch in rocking chairs & watched a few deer. Owners live in log house on property & couldn’t have been any nicer. We were in area to look for property on Norris Lake & this was a great location for that 15 mins to Stardust & Sequoyah marina area. Right next door to Appalachian Museum- we didn’t visit but will next time.
Lovely cabin in the woods. Next to the wonderful Appalachian Museum in Norris TN. Highly recommended for a quiet and peaceful time just minutes from great fly fishing and Neyland Stadium in Knoxville!
This was a charming cabin with all the comforts of home. It is well-maintained, clean, and the furnishings are comfortable. The owners were very friendly and helpful. There was an amazing scent from the plants along the walkway to the door. (Maybe jasmine?) Perfect for our romantic get-away. Norris Dam State Park is just up the road and was a beautiful setting for hiking and exploring. Nice local brewery there, too. Great stay!
This is our second time staying at the cabin and we love it there! Bob is a great guy and is just a phone call away if you need him.
We will definately be back again!

I really enjoyed staying at the cabin however the oven wasn’t clean, I had too clean all the plates and cups in the dishwasher they felt sticky. Dust bunnies behind the cabinet in the living room. I have Severe Asthma so this affected me.

Rachel: My apologies, we failed to follow up as closely as we should have after our cleaners. We have talked with them so that we will not see a reoccurrence in the future. I have refunded the cleaning fees as the cabin was not up to the standards we week to achieve.
Our Hosts were so kind. Bed was incredibly comfy! Fireplace perfect! Porch to sit and have our morning coffee: excellent. Close to nature walks by the river. Little bit of highway sound but not too bad.
This cabin has a combination of old and newer. It has the old cabin appearance on the outside as well as some of the inside, but also the 'newer' conveniences we have come to enjoy and depend on (electricity, fridge, inside toilet, etc). We stayed 3 nights in the winter months and we stayed quite comfortable inside. We cooked all our meals at the cabin without any trouble. I am always particular about the shower in a new place.... and I was quite impressed with the water pressure! The owners, Bob and Robin, were very kind and attentive to our needs.
We would recommend this property to others and would definitely stay here again.

About the host
Hosted by Robert and Robin Sain
Bob and Robin Sain are the owners of the Cabin along with their dogs, cats, birds, and horses. As ‘custodians’ of the Foust cabin we are dedicated to the restoration and preservation of it by minimizing the impact of providing conveniences of modern living for our guests. As we restored each cabin we took steps to ensure the original structural integrity of each cabin was retained as much as we could and still comply with local building codes.
Why they chose this property
The Foust family cabin is unique as it is an artifact of the history of Appalachia that is rapidly disappearing. It has endured the passage of time for over 150 years if not longer. One of our primary goals is to preserve it so it may survive for many years to come. Robin and I view our ownership of this cabin as being temporary custodians until we pass it on to the next generation of owners. We want to use this time to collect as much information as we can about the history and background of the cabin and the families who lived in it.
