Lovely stay in a treasured historic log cabin. Everything we needed. Comfy beds and living room furniture. Fireplace for seasonal use. Quaint, cozy, comfortable, clean, very welcoming. A wonderful step back in time for a slower, relaxing pace but with all the modern conveniences. Host was an excellent communicator and we loved the big furry friendly greeter. Would definitely recommend and absolutely would stay again.
This location is so charming! We say deer, rabbits, and woodchucks. The cabin was completely authentic, but updated so we were staying on the 21st century. I highly recommend this location!!
Had a great time in the wooded hills of Tennessee. The location was perfect for us and was very comfortable. Will definitely be coming back to enjoy again!
We really enjoyed staying at this property. How often do you get to stay in a hand hewn log cabin with cable! The owners were lovely and had some great suggestions of restaurants and things to do.

Great guests ! Seemed to really enjoy their visit to our property and the area. Welcome back anytime !
We thoroughly enjoyed out stay here. The owners told us about events in the area for the 4th so we could enjoy. We took part in the Firecracker 4K walk/run in Norris. It was so much fun. It’s a great place and it’s not far from Knoxville and Gatlinburg. We highly recommend this cabin
We really enjoyed our stay here in Norris. The cabin was clean, comfortable and had everything you needed. The owners were there to greet us and were available if we had any needs. A very peaceful setting and charming cabin. We would definitely stay again!
Thank you very much for your hospitality. We had a very nice time love the cabin and the surrounding area. Thanks for everything Glenn, Alice, Ray, and Cindy
We had the greatest stay at this cozy cabin. The owners provided us with everything we needed and gave us suggestions for places to eat and things to do nearby. The beds were very comfortable and the cabin was very clean. We will definitely be staying here again in the future!!
We had a wonderful stay at this cabin. The cabin was clean and has everything you need. The owners are friendly and accommodating. We would come back again.
First impression was: well appointed, perfect stay in the country. All the luxuries of home with a country setting. You would never know this sweet cabin sits just a couple miles off the main highway with access to so much. Owners are so helpful and accessible. We can’t wait to stay again. Thanks so much, Bob and Robin
Absolutely the best hidden getaway in all of East Tennessee. Cabin is cozy and comfortable with all the amenities that you could possibly need for a short stay. Hosts are warm and welcoming and literally just steps away if you need anything. We enjoyed the secluded area but it was just minutes from everything we needed. Would definitely stay here again!
This was a great experience. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming. It was really cool to stay in a home that is a piece of American and Appalachian history. Because the house is original and 200 years old. There were some gaps in the doors and a couple bugs got in. Not a big deal but just so you know what to expect. The beds were excellent and the setting was beautiful. All the amenities that you would want.

About the host
Hosted by Robert and Robin Sain
Bob and Robin Sain are the owners of the Cabin along with their dogs, cats, birds, and horses. As ‘custodians’ of the Harned cabin we are dedicated to the restoration and preservation of the cabin by minimizing the impact of providing conveniences of modern living for our guests. As we restored the cabin we took steps to ensure the original structural integrity of the cabin was retained as much as we could and still comply with local building codes.
Why they chose this property
The Harned family cabin is unique as it is an artifact of the history of Appalachia that is rapidly disappearing. It has endured the passage of time for over 200 years if not longer. One of our primary goals is to preserve it so it may survive for many years to come. Robin and I view our ownership of this cabin as being temporary custodians until we pass it on to the next generation of owners. We want to use this time to collect as much information as we can about the history and background of the cabin and the families who lived in them.
What makes this property unique
Since we started offering guest accommodations in 2002, we have had hundreds of guests representing a variety of people and reasons for staying with us. The experiences we have gained over the years prompt us to level set our goals, interests, and expectations in order to assist you, as a potential guest, to decide if staying in our cabin aligns with our mutual expectations. We want you, our guest, to understand what we offer:
• We offer safe, comfortable, and quiet accommodations - best suited for couples or small families.
• We seek guests who are looking for a unique place to stay and can appreciate and understand the historical significance of the Cabin.
• Our guests should show respect and care during their stay. This is a very old cabin and cannot be abused or marred as we seek to preserve them for future generations.
Things to consider before making a reservation:
• We respect our guest's privacy and do not provide daily services. However, if there is anything our guests need or have questions, we are more than happy to assist.
• We cannot accommodate large group meetings such as wedding parties, family reunions, business meetings, or other large groups.
