Cute and quirky bach, decorated very authentically 70s and with a crazy layout! Very warm once the fire is going. Was celebrating my 23rd birthday with a large group of friends and we had a fab time, with easy access to the lake, kayaks, pretty walks around, and the nearby cafe. Communication with owner was fantastic, she seems just lovely and was also extremely helpful during Covid times when I was previously trying to book the bach. Only improvements could be some wifi and there were quite a lot of dead bugs in the bathroom / in the attic bedroom.
Thank you so much & would love to stay again one day!

Thanks so much Sorrel - it was lovely you finally made it - we will get into those bugs - also we do have Wifi - I am so sorry I must have sent you the old information - my bad
This stay was a 70th birthday party for my wife. Our 3 sons and their families came to stay. This included 14 people for most of the time. The house is great if a little run down. There were issues with the safety on the stairs with small people but this reflects attitudes to safety at the time the house was built I suspect. There would be access issues with older or handicapped folk. Facilities are fine and everything worked well. Great for kids with the basement and videos. The furniture is comfy but a little rickety. It is a beautiful place to be with lots of nearby 'things to do".
We never met our host Sheryl but her communication, helpfulness and friendliness were all outstanding.
We all had a great time and have left with very happy memories. We thoroughly recommend this booking.
Great place, had everything we needed for a lovely week over Christmas. We loved that we could bring our dog. All the stairs were quite difficult for my 83 year old father, but he slept downstairs and coped ok. Beautiful location, plenty of places in the area to explore.
We had a lovely time at the bach playing board games and going for walks. It was warm upstairs with the fire going. An enjoyable rustic holiday. The style of the house was fun. The owner was easy to communicate with.
Beautiful woodland property in such a lovely little town
Great communication through the homeowners very friendly and helpful with any question my group had, very beautiful little forest escape in a story book town.
The bach had everything we needed, great location. Sheryl was awesome to deal with.
We would definitely book again!

Holiday among the tui in the treetops
We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in this retro bach. Comfortable queen bed and great kitchen/oven. Unfortunately the TV didn't work and some of the furniture was a bit rickety (dining table, lounge chairs) but otherwise a fun place to stay.

Thanks Andrea you left the house very tidy - we are sorry about the TV it was working in early December when we were here and we are not sure what has been changed - we are looking into it.
Cute little home in the community. Easy access to the lake with many spots for a nice day. Nice home, small yet easily comfortable for 13 guests. A little bit of a clean and tidy probably needed but all up a very nice stay! Would definitely consider coming back!
Great house for large groups. Plenty of room. Has everything you need. Close walk to lake. Beautiful bush walks around the area. Very close to excellent boat ramps
Awesome place to stay and owners are good to deal with.

About the host
Hosted by Sheryl Ryan
We are a family from Wellington who always enjoyed camping and the great outdoors but now with 6 grown up kids and 7 grandchildren we love to get together at our home away from home - it's just like camping but indoors - our friends and family loves it
Why they chose this property
We discovered Kuratau quite by accident but we love the feeling of the outdoors - beautiful scenery and the lake is a 2 min walk - amazing to swim in all year if you dare
What makes this property unique
It's very retro - very 70s - not perfect so easy to be comfortable and we are down to earth hosts
