About this property
Modern meets Historic, Natural Lighting + High Ceilings, Near Metro
High ceilings, exposed brick walls, & beautiful Brazilian cherry wood floors make this luxury loft a place you won’t easily forget. The perfect cross between modern & historic, with updated appliances and historic features. Conveniently located near the metro station and just a short ride to downtown St. Louis, Scott Air Force Base, and Southwestern Community College (SWIC), and is walking distance to the St. Clair County Courthouse. You'll fall in love with this amazing loft and the location!
The space This spacious, luxury loft is part of the historic Reichert building that was built in 1879 by the Reichert Family. You will love the fine details of this historic loft, including the original, burled wood doors and impressive woodworking details throughout the second floor. The 2400 square foot second floor was once used as a mercantile and a boarding house. During Prohibition, the 2400 square foot third floor was converted to a speakeasy. The building was completely renovated while keeping the original trim, doors and windows. In the commercial space below, we have a small venue space/wine/bourbon bar that has live music on Thursday through Saturday. The music is usually from 7-11pm. Most guests come down and enjoy.
Location Located in downtown Belleville, and walking distance to shops and restaurants and the court house. Accessibility & Security There are 4 stairs outside the unit and roughly 28 stairs going up to the unit itself. From the second floor to the third floor also has stairway. The 2nd and 3rd floors do not have an elevator so you must be able to climb the staircase and carry luggage. This is a historic building, so the stairs are steep. Excellent space with lots of character and charm. Great downtown location, we got to watch the annual Christmas parade from our windows. Plenty of space, comfy beds, hot showers. We hope to stay there again in the future.
This property is beautiful! I feel the pictures dont so it justice! Property was very clean, and hosts were more than accomdating. I will defintely be back sometime. I highly recomend you stay here, especially if you like whiskey as they have a whiskey bar on the 1st level with live music.
What a wonderful place to stay and enjoy downtown Belleville! This place is amazing!!
We needed a place for overflow family in for a wedding! It is in a perfect location! It is very well stocked! The owners are very accommodating and friendly!! We will be coming back!!
We rented this property for a girls weekend and had a lovely time. Space was clean and perfect set up for us. Host met us early to check us in and was very gracious. Highly recommend!
The space was wonderful for a large group (6). The ping pong table was a huge hit with my adult children. The bar downstairs had live music and great drinks. A fun and welcoming environment by Conni and Bill!
Really interesting two floor historic/antique rental that is almost done with a restoration project. Some very beautiful modern remodeling. The top floor is very big with a second kitchen, tons of floor space and a ping pong table. Owner was VERY quick to handle an issue with a door that got stuck closed. Internet is a bit slow, but that's due to the area . A little expensive considering the property values in the area. I'd recommend if you want to stay near the "downtown" area.

Nice location, very steep steps
This location was wonderful for a family visit. It was large and and within easy walking distance to stores and restaurants in downtown Belleville. Unfortunately, the steps to the VRBO were very steep, narrow, winding. There was only a railing on one side. It was difficult and unsafe to carry luggage and groceries up these steps. It was difficult for older adults as well. I would recommend this VRBO but be aware of the difficult entryway
My family and I loved our stay here. The pictures in the listing do not capture how beautiful this property is. Everything is clean and well cared for. Very comfortable. There is plenty of space for a large group. The owner was super nice during check in. I like that she had a binder of information for anything we might need to know, like how to work the tv and nearby businesses. 100% would stay here again.
This is a very cool property. The downtown, old building touches was beautiful. We had plenty of space for 8. Wonderful kitchen as we fixed meals and had plenty of space… cant beat the downstairs Bourbon Bar and live music that the adults enjoyed in the evening. Only 20-25 minutes from downtown St. Louis so made our visit so worth it. The host was amazing as Conni was easy to communicate with and very welcoming. Would stay again.
If you have a large group this condo will be perfect for you, we had plenty of space for our two families. The condo is located in a historic older building with lots of charm. The main kitchen had everything you might need and the frig is huge. 3 of the 4 bedrooms are great sized and the water pressure in the showers is nice and strong. The condo is located right on Main Street and you can walk to shops, restaurants, and bars. Our host met us at check-in and was very nice showed everything and gave us some good recommendations. We will be back.
The only thing I did not know when I rented it was just how many stairs there were to get to the main level… Since most of our party were 70 years or older, the initial staircase was a bit of a challenge
Otherwise, it was a very pleasant day and environment
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Coni was on site to greet us. She is very friendly and personally gave us a tour of the property along with a short history of the place. We all loved the story of how the third floor used to be speakeasy back in the day. Although it was a bit drafty in one of the rooms, it was very spacious and comfortable. We were there over a weekend and there was a small band playing in the Venue on the first floor but the music was not too loud and was enjoyable.
My daughter and I were there for a niece's bridal shower and we had plenty of room to complete last minute details for the big day.
There was still some restoration work going on in the foyer but it was not a hindrance. I can't wait to see it when it's all completed. My family and I would definitely stay again in the future.
This was our second stay at this condo in the past two years, and we’re already talking about booking it again next year when we’re in town. We traveled as two families—4 adults and 3 teenagers—and the condo gave everyone plenty of room to spread out and have their own space. The layout is great for groups because there’s enough common area to gather for meals or games, but also private bedrooms when someone needs a little quiet time. The kitchen is well-stocked with everything you might need for cooking, from pots and pans to utensils and glassware. The main-level refrigerator is enormous, which was perfect for a week’s worth of groceries and snacks for seven people. All of the beds are very comfortable, and the showers have amazing water pressure—almost too good, which I never thought I’d say!The location is a huge perk. Being right on Main Street meant that we could walk to a wide variety of restaurants, bars, and shops without ever needing to move the car. It’s an easy, fun area to explore, and we always felt completely safe, even in the evenings. Finally, a special note about the host: Connie is wonderful to work with. She’s friendly, professional, and responds quickly to any questions or needs, which makes the whole stay even easier and more enjoyable.Overall, this condo is the perfect home base for a group trip. Spacious, comfortable, ideally located, and hosted by someone who truly cares about your stay—it’s no surprise we’re already planning a return visit.

About the host
Hosted by Conni Tilley
Conni and Bill have been married for 33 years. They have one son and live about 1-1/2 miles from the loft. Conni works in the building so she is readily available in case anything is needed. In 33 years of marriage, they have traveled all over the US and internationally.
We love meeting new people and sharing stories!
Why they chose this property
This is an amazing building with lots of great history. In the 1920's, the 3rd floor was used as a speakeasy. In the later years, the 2nd floor was a boarding house. Rumor has it that Samuel Clemens stayed here while passing through.
What makes this property unique
The loft is very spacious, with lots of common space to spread out. You will have access to both the second and third floors of this space.
