Enjoy the grandeur of yesteryear when you choose to stay at historic Abernethy House. Once a former country pub, now a guest house thats exclusive to you and your group of friends or family. Set on a private 4-acre property, Abernethy House offers unique accommodation for groups of up to 30 guests all just a 2-hour drive from Sydney, in the beautiful Hunter Valley. This fine 1920s building has been lovingly restored and features 15 guest rooms.

Unwind at Abernethy House with the following bedding configuration:

5 Twin share bedrooms

The old beer garden is a great place for outdoor entertaining and is large enough to seat all guests in complete comfort. The country gardens are calling you to take a relaxing stroll and the swimming pool ideal for a summer time splash! Relax on the wide shady verandahs, which are an enticing place to sit for a while with a good book and a glass or two of Hunter wine.

Abernethy House is truly a unique Hunter Valley getaway destination that is just perfect for your next large group trip, conference, wedding or special celebration (Bucks and Hens bookings require prior written approval from management).

Please note: Bathroom access within the main building is from the external verandahs or beer garden.

The minimum booking rate is based on up to 20 guests.

We had a wonderful weekend stay here with family. It had ample kitchen equipment, good size dinning and lounge room space for all af us to relax. The outdoor spaces were good too. I would say that there isnt 15 bedrooms there is only 14 and this needs to be updated on the website. I would definitely stay here again probably in warmer months to then take advantage of the pool.

Awesome accomodation with so much space for our group of 20. The bedrooms were perfect for our group and beds very comfortable. The accomodation had a fully functioning kitchen for us to use. We had a catering company come in one evening and they were able to cook and use all the plates utensils etc from the well stocked kitchen. The dining area was fabulous for the large group. We made great use of the outdoor area and pool. I would highly recommend Abernethy house for a group function .

This is one of the best places I've ever stayed. It was perfectly catered for a large group and Rosie and Stuart were the perfect hosts. They even set up both inside and outside fires for us! Would highly recommended!

Lovely

I stayed here with my extended family, and we all had a really nice time. Lots of space and the garden was great. It was the middle of winter, so it was quite cold, which was fine, but you have to go outside on the balcony to access the toilets and bathrooms. This isn’t clear on the property listing, so something to consider if you are going to stay in winter. The house could do with a bit of attention, but nothing major. It’s missing a few basic things like a corkscrew, hairdryer, and enough firewood. Several appliances in the kitchen didn’t work, batteries in the remote were flat, things like that. It is old with peeling paint and a few quirks, but not uncomfortable and quite charming. Overall a really lovely weekend.

A Great Stay

I stayed here with a group of friends for our annual holiday. The place has everything you could want for a large group; ample rooms for people to sleep, a huge kitchen with multiple fridges, a pool, 4 acres of manicured lawn, and an undercover courtyard(which was especially convenient as it rained for the majority of the time were there). I would definitely stay here again if the opportunity presented itself.

Big Family Stay

Great venue for a large group. Definitely a sense of history staying in such an old pub. Grounds large and attractive. The surrounding neighbourhood had no amenities and is a little isolated. We were attending a wedding so this was not a problem for us.

Friends weekend away

Abernethy house was perfect for our weekend away. We all had our own room and there were plenty of different areas to hang out and relax throughout the property. The pool was a game changer and made the stay all the more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend to friends and family

Dual birthday celebrations

Hosted a combined 30th & 60th birthday celebrations. Venue was great and really helped everyone relax and get in the party mood. Beds were comfy, kitchen facilities were excellent and the formal dining and courtyard area really helped with our theme night.

Perfect venue for large group

Loved staying at Abernethy House. A family group of 20 people for a post xmas get-together and we chose the perfect location. Loved having the pool and our own 'beer garden'. Will definitely re-visit.
