Welcome to Wombat Forest Country Retreat — a place to slow down, breathe deeply and soak up the beauty of the countryside.
Tucked away in the rolling landscapes of Trentham East, our retreat offers a comfortable and modern space with peaceful views across farmland, forest and water. Wake to the sound of birdsong, enjoy your morning coffee on the back deck, cook a hearty meal in the fully equipped kitchen, or curl up with a book by the window as the sun sets.
This is a place where you can truly unwind — read, rest, wander through the trees, or simply enjoy the quiet. Whether you’re here for a romantic weekend, a creative retreat, or a country adventure, we hope you’ll feel right at home.
The space
• Light-filled open-plan living and dining area with sweeping views
• Fully equipped kitchen — ideal for cooking up hearty breakfasts or country dinners
• Covered back deck with outdoor seating for sunsets, stargazing or a cuppa with the birds
• One private bedroom with queen bed and ensuite bathroom
• A versatile daybed in the lounge that can be used for reading and relaxing, or converted into a king-size bed, allowing the Retreat to accommodate up to four guests (all sharing the ensuite)
The Retreat is attached to our main house and has:
• Its own driveway and parking area
• A private entrance with no shared internal spaces
You’re also welcome to enjoy the large grassy backyard, which backs onto three acres of beautiful trees, gardens, and ponds — perfect for exploring at your leisure.
Please note, we kindly ask that guests do not enter the adjoining market gardens without permission.

The location
Located in Trentham East, just over an hour north of Melbourne, the Retreat is perfectly placed to explore some of central Victoria’s most beloved spots:
• Trentham (10 mins): home to Red Beard Bakery, Trentham Falls and boutique shops
• Woodend (15 mins): visit Kuzu, Holgate Brewhouse or stop by the Visitor Centre
• Kyneton (25 mins): galleries, eateries and monthly farmers markets
• Daylesford (30 mins): mineral springs, spas and lake walks
• Castlemaine (45 mins): thriving arts, antiques and slow food scene
Nearby highlights include the Wombat State Forest, Diggers Garden of St Erth, historic Blackwood, and The Pig and Whistle pub — just a short stroll up the road.
A note on safety
For everyone’s safety and security, a CCTV camera is located at the front of the property, monitoring the driveway.
