Don’t underestimate this location! Caught amazing sunrises every day of our trip right out the door on the beach. Short drive or 1mile beach walk to Tunnels for incredible snorkeling. No AC but that wasn’t an issue for us, the breeze off the ocean was cool and consistent. Kitchen was well appointed - especially for the coffee fanatic. Quality grinder included! Solid WiFi, laundry building and they have beach chairs and umbrellas to borrow. Will stay again!

The property was incredible! I’mnot sure there is a better location or more perfectly -for us- curated property on the North Shore. This was exactly what we wanted… and NEEDED! Quiet, private, steps to the beach (and to the sunrise each morning and stars each night). The cottage was open and airy, yet still cozy. Everything was well-appointed and CLEAN! Thank you for your attention to those details. The kitchen was fantastic, and we put it to use most nights of our six-night stay. We LOVED the fridge drawers, the coffee grinder, the SHARP knives, epicurean cutting boards and the glass storage containers (No plastic! Thanks for those details, too!)I’ll restate: it was everything we wanted, everything we needed, and we cannot wait to return! Mahalo nui loa for this amazing experience!

Perfect Beach Cottage
If you want to get away, and I mean really get away from all the hustle of daily life and the “crowds” of any touristy place on island, the Hale Makai Cottages are for you. If you care more about proximity to the ocean, hearing the waves as you sleep, and the birds in the morning, taking a dip in the ocean from maybe 200 feet from your bed, this is your place. If you don’t need all the frills of Princeville and instead want to feel like your part of a small beach front neighborhood stay here. I don’t want to share how much we loved staying here because I want it to be more of a secret. But I was so happy I found it and I hope you love it too. We stayed here for 3 nights for our 10 year anniversary and it was a perfect home base to go beach, hike Ha’ ena Park, or enjoy a nice dinner in Hanalei. We can’t wait to go back.

We loved our stay at the Hale Makai Cottages. The units were spotless and well-stocked. Cassie, the person in charge of housekeeping was wonderful. Susan who manages the place was very responsive to any questions we had. The location is perfect, right on the beach.
