The unit is in a very central location with many dining options nearby. It's a very large unit, basically 1/4 of a c. 1900 home. My unit was on the upper floor. The lock system is electronic and very convenient on both the outside door and the apartment door. The unit is one of the best stocked units I've ever occupied and was very clean. The only downsides that I noticed were that the carpet is a light color and needs replacement. Also, the furniture is low quality. The floor is noisy and I was very self-conscious about walking around late at night because of that. There are no lamps, mostly can lights, and the light is either very bright or off. Dimmers would make a big difference. The refrigerator door does not close by itself; you must be sure to push it closed or it doesn't seal. Generally, I was very pleased with the stay but the unit needs some updates and upgrades.

The dog fee was removed before you arrived. Again e tried to meet all of our guest expectations. If something is not up to your satisfaction we would try to accommodate you immediately like we did in this situation. A simple direction from us would have told you how to work the thermostat and the wheel could have been put on immediately. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience during your stay.Thank youSand CountyFridayYou have obviously not addressed all of our concerns only the ones you wish to address. There were no directions in the unit as to how to use the thermostat. WE DID NOT RUN THE UNIT IN THE KITCHEN IT DID NOT TURN ON WHEN WE TRIED. The broken steps, the sink plunger which was moldy, the dirty dishes, We were waiting for you to find something else and YOU WERE NOT ABLE TO FIND ANYTHING COMPERABLE!!! WE ASKED FOR A CREDIT FOR SOMETHING LATER IN THE YEAR. So - you did not meet your guests expectations and did not try very hard to address our concerns. These things should have been taken care of BEFORE WE RENTED THE HOME and should be fixed before renting again. We are very disappointed in Sand County.

Hello Cecil, we're sorry you had other problems than the one that we addressed. This is the first time this has been mentioned to us . It always helps if a guest lets us know there's an issue during their stay, rather than leave an false review. You were not happy with the house we rented you. You never mentioned steps, mold, or anything except a dog smell. We ozonated the building after the dog stayed. We explained that we are sometimes forced to take pets. We refunded your money for the one night at the house for the inconvenience. And you were fine with that. VRBO helped us do it. Remember? We put you up in apartment number three, which also saved you money, you said it was fine, and you approved the switch. None of the things that you complained about in this review applies to apartment 3, and the problem you complained about at the bungalow was fixed. You even came over and gave it your nose test and said that it was good. Again, you did not mention steps, or any moldy smell. There was and is, no moldy smell.

About the host

I'm a retired pipefitter welder and I understand how nice it would be to have an affordable home away from home while working in a new area. I've been renting the apartments full time for more than a decade until December. I started converting them over to fully furnished short-term rentals when my girlfriend, who owns Aunt Rose's Place, started helping me set mine up as they became available. I'm looking forward to renting to people who appreciate a nice home while working or visiting the area of Monroe.

Why they chose this property

It has location, location, location! Only a few miles from I-75, US-23, M-24, M-25 and blocks from downtown it's perfect for a short-term stay! Each apartment has its own personality, and a stack apartment size washer and dryer so no waiting required! Bedrooms have 100% blackout curtains and shades to help shift workers sleep better. The front covered porch with chairs, tables, and ashtrays is a nice place to watch walkers, visit with others, or have a smoke. The back yard off the alley parking lot is large enough to toss a ball around if you don't want to walk to the many nearby parks. Kroger’s is only a few blocks away as are many dollar stores and other shops and restaurants.

What makes this property unique

St. Mary's Park is a short walk and hosts free concerts and events through the spring and summer. Walk to the river and fish. Lots of parks for the little ones in the neighborhood. Cedar Point is only 2 hr drive! Canada 30 miles. Tickets can be purchased for tours at the Ford Rouge Factory Tour, or the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, only a half hour from Monroe.
