About this property

The Spruce Moose Lodge

Come relax at the Spruce Moose Lodge, our private, 4 season log cottage on upper Mazinaw Lake!

This family-owned, rustic log cottage on the water is just up the Lake from Bon Echo Provincial Park - about 1.5hrs east of Peterborough, 3hrs north-east of Toronto, 2.5 hrs west of Ottawa and 1.5hrs north-west of Kingston. The cottage is easily accessible by municipal, year round roads and has amenities including groceries, LCBO and Beer Store, and small cottage shops and small-town restaurants, close by.

Our cottage has 200ft of waterfront shoreline on gorgeous upper Mazinaw Lake, with a huge 2nd level deck to sit and enjoy the stunning views! Clean swimming for the family and canoes, kids' kayaks and a paddle boat to play with.

Smart tv for streaming and lots of games and puzzles available. Huge DVD library! Star Link internet and a foosball table is also available for rainy day fun!

Enjoy a fire in the firepit overlooking the lake, or try out the outdoor fireplace that is truly unique! An indoor wood fireplace for those cooler fall and winter months. Cottage is fully stocked with appliances, dishes, and cutlery as well as with a propane BBQ.

Mattress pads, pillows, bath/hand and kitchen towels are provided, however guests are to bring their own bedsheets and comforters.

The second level has 3 bedrooms: a large primary bedroom with a queen bed and expansive, unobstructed views of the lake, a 2nd bedroom with a queen bed and lakeview, and a 3rd bedroom with a bunkbed (twin over double). The lower level den with walkout to the lake has a queen pull-out sofa - ideal for adults or older kids. Cottage sleeps 8 (6 adults maximum). There is no bathroom on this level.

The main level is is a beautiful open-concept space with huge logs lining the ceiling! The kitchen, living room, dining room, and bathroom are all on the main level.

Our cottage is pet friendly, however renters MUST advise owners of any pets in advance. Maximum of two (2) well-trained doggies!

While beautiful, our cottage is unfortunately not accessible for folks with physical limitations or restrictions, particularly stair or climbing restrictions.

Truly wonderful stay!

What a beautiful spot! The cottage itself was immaculate, and outfitted wonderfully for our needs (and then some). Our hosts were excellent with communication and answered all of our questions promptly and thoroughly. We had an amazing time visiting this property and would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone wanting to visit Mazinaw Lake!

Relaxing stay

I stayed at the property with my family and friend. The spruce moose Lodge was perfect getaway to spend relaxing time. Loved the ambience, lighting, interior and amenities. Amber was a excellent host who made sure that we make the best out of our time while relaxing in front of the lake. It would be worth to have a 2nd washroom for the property if hosting a bigger group. Otherwise, the best experience we had.

Beautiful Property

We rented this property with my parents. It was clean, very well equipped. We lacked for nothing. Property owners were accessible and easy to reach. It was pet friendly and decks were secured with gates which made it safe for pets. We will definitely return. Thanks again A & M.

Relaxation vacation

Wonderful experience at the lodge - easy process for check in, great communication with the hosts and everything we needed for a lovely few days away. The time of year was stunning on the lake, and the sounds of if the ice cracking and sending sound waves around the lake was just beautiful. Great space for adults and kids to relax - we told the kids there was no wifi and they happily ‘adventured’ all over the property and loved hanging out on the dock with snacks whilst watching the ice shift and break up along the lake :) Brilliant place for the Easter Bunny to create an Easter egg hunt too ☺️ Thank you amber and mark!

Wonderful cottage and great owners to deal with!

The cottage is amazing and exactly as advertised! As a bonus the owners are great to deal with and very welcoming. This place is in one of our favourite parts of the world. Very close to Bon Echo Provincial Park. We travel often to this area in summer months camping but thought we’d try the area in the winter and we had a great time. Even if the weather is not so great, there are plenty of games, books and a fireplace to relax beside. The place is very well kept and well stocked with whatever you need. Just bring your food and bedding and you’re ready to have a great vacation! Thanks Amber and Mark!

The hosts were wonderful and kind to deal with; they were attentive, accessible, helpful and took extra care to make sure our trip was wonderful. The cottage was lovely, clean, organized and included so many thoughtful amenities (fully- stocked kitchen, ice, a welcome bottle of wine, diffuser, extra blankets, plenty of towels for the kitchen and bathroom, fire wood, toys/games/books/dvds), water toys (trampoline, slide, lounger), paddle boat, canoes. The beds were comfortable and the sheets were fresh and clean; we loved waking up every day overlooking the lake. The wrap-around deck was amazing and we enjoyed lots of meals out there. We had a bonfire every night and loved sitting around it on muskoka chairs. The deck was a good size and there was lots of spots with a sandy, shallow bottom for our kids to splash around. Everything was so well thought out and structured to make our stay pleasant and easy. We enjoyed a day trip to bonecho which was a short drive away and had a wonderful beach and trails to walk. Lovely stay!

Awesome views!

We went for a week to the cottage, family of three plus two doggies. It was really clean and very well equipped. We greatly enjoyed all the games and water activity equipment provided! Lake Mazinaw is a beautiful, quiet and clean lake, perfect for long swims and canoe rides. Views from the cottage were amazing, really nice from the deck and master bedroom! It was pet friendly and decks were secured with gates which made it safe for pets. Just to take into consideration, our elderly doggy had some difficulty with the stairs but he found an easy way to go down through the grass ramp. The cottage itself was lovely and comfortable. We spent lot of time at the deck enjoying the views, taking dinner outside and making marshmallows. We would have preferred having the road a bit further from the cottage though. Overall, a great week. Thanks A&M! :)

A Wonderful Stay!

Our stay met or exceeded all expectations! Our family of 4 had a perfectly relaxing vacation. We made good use of the fireplace, kitchen and games. Mark and Amber's place had everything the listing promised and more, and their communication was clear and complete so that our own packing was very simple and stress free. The Spruce Moose Lodge is beautiful and comfortable and we enjoyed our stay from beginning to end. Thanks Amber and Mark!

Family reunion

Lake Mazinaw is a beautiful, clean lake, perfect for long swims and canoe rides. The cottage itself was lovely, clean, comfortable beds, a gorgeous view of the lake from the Master! The kitchen area and living space are perfect for family meals and social gatherings. The huge deck and outside eating area provide a gorgeous view of the lake! If you have trouble with stairs, there is only one bathroom on the main level, and you must descend the stairs from the bedrooms….a bit of a problem during the night! All in all, the cottage and surrounding area is lovely!

Amazing lakefront cottage with lovely interiors

This cottage is simply breathtaking! It looks way nicer than the pictures and my friends and I had a great time staying here. We did some hiking, board games as well as some BBQ. This is a great place if you want to get away from the rat race and just unplug and relax for a few days. The owner is super accommodating as well, thank you for this great experience!
