We loved this property and we shall return in the future if we are back in the area. Unfortunately we chose rainy days for this stay and as such were unable to try and fish the river. Maybe next time?

The host was very welcoming and the location is excellent, very quiet and amazing views from the balcony, living room and main bedroom. A little bit of extra cleaning of the space would have been great

Stunning views makes this place special. Host is very pleasant and helpful. As advertised it's a no-frills place. Could do with a spring-clean/declutter and a good cob-webbing. Comfortable beds, plenty of space to relax, beautiful scenery and peaceful.

Spectacular veiw and location. Good amount of kitchen equipment. Basic amenities. The house needed a really good clean, the carpets were scary and the lower level smelt of mould. I did appreciate the ability for 5 adults to stay under one roof. Thank you.

Relaxing and fabulous

We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Absolutely loved the views and birdlife. We already miss it. The road leading to the farm has breathtaking views, even on misty mornings.

Our host Julie was very helpful with providing directions into the farm and warm & friendly to deal with. We found it quite straightforward to find and it’s a simple 10 mins or so from the town. The 5 stars is for the location. The fantastic river views, rolling hills and bird life was a refreshing return to nature all enjoyable from the generous sized deck. It would be hard to beat this view for the price. Kayaking on a river all to ourselves was awesome as you can enjoy more bird life along the banks. It’s just quiet and peaceful and you might need to be a ‘no frills’ type to ignore the nature within the house. We will definitely be coming back.

Property needs lots of attention. Cupboards need to be cleaned out and excess clutter removed. Position great but cottage very rundown.

I had a carpenter look at the damage to the front door after the party left . He said damage to the safety glass was caused by a person being shoved into the door ( thank god it was safety glass ) the party lied to me about the damage - do not visit the farm again

Paradise on the Blackwood

Quaint farmhouse in a picturesque location with the river on the doorstep. We enjoyed a very relaxing and peaceful stay at Roebank, taking in all the sights and sounds of nature. The accommodation was clean and cosy with everything we needed and host, Julie, was very accommodating and easy to contact/communicate with. The huge open fireplace downstairs was an absolute dream! Winner winner chicken dinner!

Spectacular views but cleanliness is terrible

Great country experience with spectacular view, but the cleanliness was terrible and the property has a strong odour.

Client was encouraged to cancel booking 2 weeks prior as she had requested a special cleaner attend the property at her expense I assumed , at this point I encouraged her to cancel booking she also had queries about 5 kms of gravel rd did her car need special requirements , on arrival one of the guests requested heaters for the bedrooms ( living rooms have adequate heating options ) could photos of inadequate cleaning be made available . Downstairs open fireplace causes the smoke to rise upstairs which is a natural odour that lingers in houses that have wood heating . The price of 47 $ per person per night during peak demand should be celebrated

Communication with the host was very limited.Instructions to the residence was very confusing. On arrival the house was very disappointing. Everything looked tired, dusty with cobwebs and spiders on the outdoor furniture. Considering a 150 cleaning fee is added to your bill the standard was very below average. Such a pity as the view from the substandard balcony was amazing However we Would not recommend this home stay experience to anyone

Not 28km from Nannup as stated

Julie the owner was lovely and very accommodating. Only issues was that it stated 28km from Nannup which maybe true for a crow. Please change on the listing to 54km by car

Serenity

Overall we were happy with the stay. The house was isolated and in a beautiful spot with the river and valleys. Breathaking views that I will miss. The house is as just listed, not the cleanest or neatest. Main issue is the red dirt road 4-5km to get to the property. Thankfully it was raining the last few days otherwise your car's back windscreen will be covered. If that is not an issue I would recommend this place to you.

Why they chose this property

Roebank Farm and the neighbouring Peninsula House both have historical significance in Bridgetown and were part of the first settlement in this area.

This delightful hideaway is located just 10kms from the heart of Bridgetown and after a short journey along a gravel road you’ll find our three character residences perched along the river bank with breath taking views of the sweeping valley.

The Roebank Cottage was built in 1890 by the grand-daughter of John Septimus Roe who was a famous civil engineer who contributed to the original town planning of Perth and Roebourne. It was constructed using clay bricks sourced from the local area. The original dwellings on the property were made from wood but unfortunately they did not survive the bushfires over the past 150 years.

The Riverbank Homestead was added to the the property in 1970s and has been built into the riverbank elevations to maximise views of the scenic Blackwood River from all areas of the home.

In the 19th century Roebank was primarily a sheep grazing farm and the original shearing sheds that stand today were used sheep farmers around the district. Farming activities have ranged from orchids, cattle, sheep and goats and today is a family hobby farm and accommodation for tourists.
