About this property

Blackpool Bayside - Easy Walk to Oneroa

Summary:

Escape to Blackpool Bayside by Stay Waiheke, a relaxed coastal retreat on Waiheke Island, offering stunning sea views and easy access to Blackpool Bay. This comfortable holiday home is perfect for families or small groups seeking space and simplicity. Enjoy the convenience of being within walking distance of Oneroa Village and unwind in your private outdoor spa.

The Space:

Blackpool Bayside is a relaxed, family-friendly home set right across from the bay, with open living spaces and easy access to the shoreline and village. The home has a warm, lived-in feel, with morning light coming through the front windows and the quiet rhythm of the water just metres away.

The main level is centred around an open-plan living, dining, and kitchen area. Floor-to-ceiling glass frames the bay and keeps the space bright and connected to the outdoors throughout the day. The kitchen is fully equipped for shared meals at home, the dining table seats the group comfortably, and the lounge works well for board games, family dinners, or winding down in the evenings.

Also on this level is one queen bedroom and a full bathroom, along with a second, separate lounge that includes a double sofa bed. This additional living space works well for larger families or guests wanting a quieter retreat within the house.

Upstairs are two further queen bedrooms, accessed via a narrow, fairly steep staircase typical of older Waiheke homes. These rooms sit under the roofline, catch afternoon sun, and are fitted with air conditioning for warmer months, offering a comfortable and more private sleeping zone away from the main living areas. A second full bathroom services this level.

Outside, the deck and garden provide a simple, private space for breakfast in the sun or relaxing after time at the beach. With Blackpool Bay directly across the road and Oneroa Village an easy walk away, most guests find they can leave the car parked and move easily between the house, shoreline, and village on foot.

The Neighborhood:

Blackpool Bayside sits on The Esplanade in Blackpool, a quiet stretch of coastline that remains calm even during peak season. The position works well for guests wanting an easy, relaxed base close to the centre of the island without the busier feel of staying directly in the village. From the house, it is a straightforward walk into Oneroa Village for coffee, breakfast, shopping, and dining.

Oneroa Village offers a good range of café options. Akito Café is known for its modern, plant focused breakfast menu and consistently good coffee, while Wai Kitchen is a popular choice for brunch and daytime plates with views across Oneroa Bay. For lunch, Solar Eating House offers a casual all day menu in a sunny outdoor setting, and The Ocean View Kitchen and Bar is a central option for simple daytime meals and drinks.

Dinner options nearby are varied and easy to reach. Fenice is a long standing favourite for Italian classics, including pizza and pasta, in a relaxed setting. The Courtyard is tucked just off the main strip and offers a cosy garden bar atmosphere with an Italian leaning dinner menu.

Several well known vineyards are close by. Mudbrick Vineyard is a short drive away and offers wine tastings, bistro dining, and views across the Hauraki Gulf. Cable Bay Vineyards is also nearby, known for Mediterranean style dining, shared plates, and sunset outlooks. The Heke is within easy reach as well and is a local favourite for wood fired dishes, craft beer, and a lively outdoor garden bar.

Directly across from the house, the shoreline is ideal for low tide wandering, paddleboarding, or a quiet moment by the water, while the walk into the village remains simple and convenient throughout the day.

Getting Around:

The nearest bus stop is a short walk away in central Oneroa. Buses run to all major parts of the island, and they stop outside every major winery, including Cable Bay, Mudbrick, and those in the Onetangi Valley.

Taxis, hire cars, scooters, and e-bikes are available across Waiheke. If you’re arriving by ferry, Matiatia is only a few minutes away, keeping travel simple.

Other Things to Note:

The property uses rainwater tanks, like most island homes. Please use water thoughtfully.
