I did not like that I had to go to a realty company to pick up & drop off a key. Other VRBO's that I have rented have a keyless entry or lock box. The house was old and had not been updated in the last 40 years!!! It was dark & dreary. Furniture was old. Bed Mattresses were nice but that's about the only good thing about the house.

Tribute to Camp Highlands To appreciate and enjoy Camp Highlands, you first must appreciate our mountain town of Highlands, its roots, and what it represents to many of its long-time summer residents and a large segment of those of us who have chosen it as a permanent home. If you are “turned off” (no pun intended) by our curvy roads, you are probably going to be unhappy with the Town of Highlands and Camp Highlands from the very start. If you fail to recognize the significance of “Camp” in the name of Camp Highlands (i.e., fire pit, yard games, ping pong, fishing, canoe paddling, walking trails, board games), and are instead looking for a 21st-century Atlanta Buckhead or Palm Beach decor, Camp Highlands is not for you. If you do not appreciate the Amish-made dinner chairs, an original Stickley Rocker (think Grove Park Inn), a handmade game table made of an old chestnut door, and the massive two-story rock fireplace, Camp Highlands is not for you. If you do not appreciate rare and valuable chestnut, cherry, and poplar paneling and “huge” beams milled on the property, you will probably think of Camp Highlands as “so dated.” All of this is ok, however. We know Camp Highlands is not for everyone. But, from the many positive reviews in our guest book and the many repeat guests who have partaken of Camp Highlands charm and family-focused amenities, we feel we are providing our guests with something special.

Wedding weekend

We came for my niece’s wedding with my parents and our son and his fiancé. The house’s rustic facade and interior worked perfectly with outdoor setting. We had so much fun playing ping pong and croquet. The owners were very friendly - they walked by and chatted with us .while we played croquet. It is a beautiful place, and we would stay there again.

Fantastic mountain house

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This camp house is located about 2 miles from downtown Highlands near Glen Falls. It is perfect for a family vacation with four bedrooms, three bathrooms and a huge, circular open living space surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows. The living area includes a living room, dining room, game area and kitchen with a beautiful, circular, woodburning fireplace. Downstairs, there's a game room and another fireplace. The owners have included everything you need, from firewood for the indoor fireplace and the outdoor firepit, to a fully-stocked kitchen. The scenery is beautiful, with a pond out back and an old orchard next door. On our first morning, we were visited by a herd of deer who slept in the field next door, and many species of ducks. I just can't express how much we enjoyed our time here, and we'll definitely be back.

A true getaway

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a wonderful time! The house was great and really brought nature inside with the massive floor to ceiling windows in the main living space. It is tucked just enough away to make you feel like a get away but close enough to town for easy access to stores and restaurants. The house had everything we needed!

Arsenault review of Camp Highlands

Rating Details: The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was a perfect rental for our annual Highlands reunion with our daughters, our son-in-law, and our two grandchildren, a boy of 7 and a girl of 4.The house was sparkling clean and very well equipped. Although there were some dead areas for wireless, the 3 adults who had to do computer work for part of our stay managed well. It was a paradise for the children, with lots of games, including croquet, ping pong, and corn hole. They were enchanted with the deer family that came through the huge yard every afternoon and assorted rabbits and hawks, and enjoyed marshmallow roasts after sunset. The owners generously shared tours of their classic cars and were very attentive when an unexpected storm came through that blocked our road and brought over battery powered lamps and flashlights for us to use when the power went out for several hours. The only problems we experienced were that the 4-year old fell down several steps to the basement. Although she was unhurt except for a nasty bruise, carpet on the steep staircase would be a good improvement. Nonetheless we would love to return and enjoy Camp Highlands next summer!
