About this property

Putiki Estate by Stay Waiheke

Summary:

Overlooking the tranquil waters of Putiki Bay, Putiki Estate is one of Waiheke’s most exceptional luxury retreats, a private lodge-style sanctuary designed for effortless indoor–outdoor living. From sunlit decks and beautiful entertaining spaces to the resort-style pool, spa, tennis court, and courtside bar, this remarkable estate brings together privacy, comfort, and contemporary coastal luxury in a way that feels both elevated and deeply relaxing.

The Space:

Putiki Estate unfolds across beautifully landscaped grounds, with generous, light-filled living zones opening to wide decks and sweeping bay views. The main lodge is designed for gathering, with high ceilings, warm timbers, and soft coastal styling that gives the home a refined, restful feel. Large glass sliders create an easy flow from the living and dining spaces to the outdoors, allowing every moment to feel connected to the landscape.

The chef’s kitchen forms the social heart of the home and is fully equipped for family feasts, long lunches, or private chef service. Multiple indoor and outdoor dining areas make entertaining simple, whether you're enjoying a quiet breakfast in the early sun or hosting a dinner overlooking the bay.

Outside, the estate feels like your own private resort. A heated swimming pool sits framed by palms, and the nearby spa pool is the perfect place to unwind at day's end. The full-size tennis court is positioned with green and water views, and beside it, a private courtside bar creates a relaxed spot for afternoon drinks. A pizza oven, BBQ kitchen, and outdoor fire extend your evenings beautifully.

The eight ensuite bedrooms are styled with soft linens, calming colours, and a peaceful outlook, offering comfort and privacy for every guest. A separate guest house provides additional space for staff, grandparents, or guests wanting their own retreat. The property is also ideally suited to boutique corporate gatherings, with AV equipment, whiteboards, and multiple breakout areas available.

The Neighborhood:

Putiki Estate sits above the gentle waters of Putiki Bay, a peaceful part of the island known for its privacy, sunsets, and birdlife. Despite its seclusion, the property is moments from some of Waiheke’s best experiences. The Heke Brewery & Distillery is close by and has become a local favourite for casual dining, craft beer, whisky tastings, and relaxed afternoons on the lawn. Within a short drive, you’ll find the celebrated wineries of the Onetangi Valley, including Stonyridge, Tantalus, and Wild Estate, along with smaller boutique vineyards tucked into the hills.

Ostend Village offers supermarkets, cafes, the Saturday markets, and essentials, while Oneroa Village is home to galleries, boutiques, restaurants, and several scenic walking tracks. Onetangi Beach, with its long white sands and beachfront dining, is also within easy reach, making this estate perfectly positioned for both relaxation and exploration.

Getting Around:

The nearest bus stop is on Ostend Road, with regular services running between Matiatia Ferry Terminal, Oneroa Village, Ostend, The Heke, Palm Beach, and Onetangi Beach. Many of the island’s top vineyards and dining spots sit close to these routes, making travel without a car simple. Taxis and shuttles operate throughout the island but can be limited and more expensive during busy times, so pre-booking is recommended. The estate offers extensive private parking and can also accommodate helicopter arrivals by arrangement.

Other Things to Note:

The estate is supplied by rainwater tanks. As part of Waiheke’s commitment to sustainability, guests are encouraged to use water mindfully during their stay.

Minimum stays apply year-round: seven nights from mid-December to mid-January, three nights on holiday weekends, and two nights at all other times.

Pets may be permitted on request and must be approved in writing before arrival.

Interaction with Guests:

Our team is available seven days a week from 8.30am to 5pm, with an after-hours number provided for urgent matters. For life-threatening emergencies, please call 111 immediately.
