We were here 2 years ago. Loved it. Now no ledger to sign in and read everyone else's stories. No dollar bill hunt in the cracks. Wifi was unplugged. 2 tvs dish on the roof. No stations. It has lost a lot of charm. We won't be back. It was clean. Consider upgrading the toilet bigger seat. and shower at least a place to hold the shower head.
One of the most serene places I've stayed in-wish we booked for longer! Beds are super comfortable, everything is clean, and loved the beautiful backyard.
Really cool old cabin, not for gourmet chefs or tall people! Great stay, no complaints.

We had a very nice stay at this property. The place was clean and equipped with everything we needed. This was a very peaceful retreat and we would definitely stay there again.
Cabin is fantastic. Clean and cozy and the creek runs underneath the back porch. The ceilings are a little low but I'm 6ft tall and had no issues. Great place to stay for a night or two.
What a neat little place to stay. I brought my Doberman and she absolutely hated the place. I got the vibe from her that it may be haunted, Although my wife and I saw noting out of the ordinary and were very satisfied with the place... My dog would not come around the couch by the fireplace. She also would not go upstairs. The backyard has a wonderful little stream and the back pouch is amazing.
It was a quiet little cabin with history. Close to a lot hiking trails. We loved it. We will definitely be back also be prepared for the scavenger hunt with in the cabin.
If you enjoy quaint and roughing it a little then this would be your pick. It sits right on a busy highway so a little noisy, but very quaint. No cell service and wifi is at best patchy, so a good off the grid getaway! Hiking trails a plenty!
Our families 3 night stay at this peaceful rustic cabin was just the perfect getaway! Extremely clean inside. All beds are located upstairs and was very comfortable. The kitchen has everything you need, so just bring your food! The back porch swing bench is so relaxing while drinking your morning coffee and listening to the creek and all the nature you’re surrounded with. The fire pit and charcoal grill are literally right on the creek, really adding to the uniqueness of this place! Sherando Lake, a 3 min drive, is a MUST with kids! Only cost $8 per vehicle. Plenty of beach and the water is beautiful, surrounded by mountains. The host of this property was extremely kind and will answer your call immediately. We loved every minute we were there and will do it again!
The cabin was very clean and very well maintained. Our kids loved to sleep all in one room on the upper level. We loved the creek in the back too.
I was surprised by the traffic from the street that is right in front of the cabin. There were cars and trucks coming and going at fast speeds. Also, the proximity of the cabin next to us, is right next, giving you little privacy.
I think if you come with little kids you will have to be very careful with the traffic on the street. Other than that we like it.
We got to the cabin at 3pm and the heat was off. It was a very cold weekend. We turned the heat on and went to get dinner. When we returned the cabin was still very cold. The heaters never put out much heat and it was 55 degrees when we got up the next morning. We left and got a hotel room to warm up.
The cabin was more primitive than we were aware of. We thought it would be modernized on the inside. Nail sticking out of floor. The ceiling joists are very low and my husband had to walk stooped over. There is also not a shower, just a bath tub. On a positive note, the cabin was very clean and the quilts on the bed were warm.
We were very satisfied with the accommodations. All of the appliances worked very well (stove, oven, washer and dryer) and the gas fireplace and air conditioning. We had plenty of hot water for showers/dishes/laundry and the water pressure was fine. The kitchen had everything we needed. The beds/sofa/chair were very comfortable and the blankets/quilts were very nice. The creek directly behind the cabin was a beautiful and meditative sound. The area is perfect for relaxing and exploring. We loved Natural Bridge and there are many caverns to see. The Shenandoah Flea Market is well worth a visit. The prices were much better than any of the others in the area. The cabin was very "dog friendly". We brought our own throw blankets/towels to cover the furniture and dry her. But, the cabin was easy to clean up. We even loved the little general store down the road. They had snacks, lottery, wine and gas, etc. The people there were very friendly. We have no complaints.
Just a warning to those who are considering this as a vacation rental. It's rustic. That means spotty WiFi and Direct TV. And snakes. If you don't like snakes, stay in a hotel. The creek in the backyard was a "plus" for us and our dog! However, you must be OK with checking for snakes on the rocks and logs. They like to sun themselves there. There is mud when it rains, remember to bring your rain/all weather boots! You'll be happy that you did. The yard down to the creek is VERY STEEP. Keep this in mind if you have..
Lovely location. As billed, property was an old log cabin with a lot of history. Property was clean and well kept.

Great cabin
This is a really neat old cabin with a lot of character! Unfortunately the main heat wasn’t working correctly, but fortunately fireplace heated the downstairs nicely and the space heaters the upstairs while sleeping. The highlight section of VRBO said it was only 7 minutes from Wintergreen and it was really about 14 minutes, but still easy driving distance up and over the mountain if the roads are good. Neat things for kids to explore in and around the house. With a creek out back. Low ceilings, so if you are tall beware. Overall we really liked it though and would come back.
