Easy Access to Chicago
Great place to come back and relax after exploring Chicago. Lots of great restaurants and shops near by to pick up any last minute things. Easy to hop on the Metra and get going for the day.
Overall, this was a cute home for our family. We really just needed a place to sleep after visiting family all day, and it worked well for that. A couple of things to note: if you’re sleeping upstairs in the loft, watch your head on the slanted ceiling—it’s easy to bump into! Also, the Jack and Jill bathroom is located between the two bedrooms, so anyone staying in the loft has to walk through one of the bedrooms to access it, which could be a little inconvenient. Otherwise, it’s a great place if you’re not too picky.
Great place to stay for the weekend of our friend’s wedding.
The house did smell slightly of smoke when we arrived. Otherwise no complaints, the host was very communicative.
Clean and exactly as described. The host responded promptly to every question I asked. We did use the Metra, but it would have been great to get downtown if we would have had the time. The house needs a few small additions for a larger group, but still very adequate. The neighborhood was also nice to walk in.
Cute home. Smelled a bit like smoke so could use some cleaning or airing out. We loved the outside deck with the fire pit, table and grill. Great location, walking distance to a cute little area with restaurants. Very close to Metra which we didn’t use but would be convenient if you did. Worked well for our needs with 2 adult sons where we could all have our own beds. Kitchen pans etc could use an upgrade. Found it a little difficult to cook with limited options. Overall nice place and would stay again.

Very small but clean
Our stay was fine. The bathroom is only accessed through the two bedrooms making it challenging for those sleeping in the loft to access. Loft sleeping is under low slanted roof line making it challenging to get into and out of beds without hitting the ceiling. Very small family and dining room spaces. We were a group of adults without children, maybe not our best housing option however space is cleaning and accessible to Metra!
The inside of the home was generally fine, but the outside was a different story — and not one we expected based on the listing. The photos must be 10 years old. The deck is in rough shape and looked unsafe to use. The yard was completely overgrown with weeds — in fact, the city issued a violation notice while we were there. Not exactly the relaxing outdoor space we thought we were booking. Also worth noting: the bathroom is awkwardly located between two bedrooms, and the loft has no blinds or curtains (we had to tape garbage bags over the windows to sleep). With some maintenance and updated photos, this place could be a nice stay. But as it stands now, it didn’t match what we were led to expect — especially the exterior.

No working stove
I traveled with my two daughters and infant grandson. We all have special dietary needs which is one of the primary reasons why we chose to stay in a vacation rental. There are very few
restaurants that can accommodate our dietary restrictions. And we wanted to save money! Restaurants are so expensive these days!
When we arrived, I attempted to boil some water for the medicinal tea I drink daily. The stove would not light after several attempts. It was clear there was no gas to the stove. I contacted the number given for issues with the property. I was told I would have to turn the gas back on to the stove as they had had some service recently done. When I found the valve, there was a warning tag stating that the line was improperly installed and could not be turned on due to safety reasons. So I let the property contact know about the problem. He offered to buy us a pizza for the inconvenience of not having a means to cook for a week. Needless to say, this was completely unacceptable. We can’t even eat pizza.
Apparently our concerns (there were more issues, like the dead battery in the lock that left my daughter and grandson stranded in the heat to try to figure out how to get in the house) were shared with someone at a higher pay grade who then offered a $75 for our inconvenience. I spent hundreds of dollars and way too much time researching places where we could safely eat, getting us to those places and paying A LOT of money on meals. We paid for a kitchen.
