About this property

Small beachfront cottage just minutes from beautiful Traverse City, MI on M-22 (most recently recognized as the most scenic drive in the U.S.). 1,100 sq ft, 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home located directly on the west side of West Bay. Includes 2 full beds, 2 twin beds, and one queen bed. Max occupancy is 6 adults (plus 4 kids under 5). All rooms have black-out curtains. The breeze off the cool water is usually sufficient, however, there is central air now available to keep you comfortable if we have unusually hot weather.

Home has furnished kitchen, washer/dryer, wifi, cable, gas grille, and 2 kayaks with life jackets.

Large deck with expansive view of power island, which was once owned by Henry Ford and visited by Babe Ruth. The upper deck has a dining set and cozy outdoor furniture to fully enjoy the view!

The entertainment area on the beach (CLOSED NOV-APRIL/MAY depending on the spring weather) includes outdoor bathroom with shower, 2 42-inch TV's to enjoy your favorite movie or game beachside. The beach bar has ample outdoor furnishings to relax and enjoy cocktails with family and friends. The WATER CHANGES from year to year and we have a small beach to enjoy this year.
Leelanau peninsula, old mission peninsula, and Sleeping Bear Dunes are all nearby attractions that offer a variety of options to keep you busy.

Beautiful view, comfy living!

Beautiful property, right on the bay. Easy access to the water for kids to walk in and enjoy the water. Bay views from 2 bedrooms and enjoyed the sounds of the waves crashing from the deck.

Beautiful views for a restful stay

We thoroughly enjoyed the absolutely beautiful for you off the deck and having access to the beach right on property. The lapping of the waves was very peaceful to listen to in the evening when going to bed. The house was well supplied for things that we needed for our stay. Ky was very responsive and helpful. The communication with Kai was exceptional, Ky even started our dinner once the crockpot was brought over, which meant our family was able to have a wonderful sit down meal after a busy day of preparing for our son’s wedding. The location on the peninsula makes it easy to head north, head west or head south into Traverse City, which was a very convenient for the plans that we had. The house is situated on a busy road, and there was quite a bit of road noise. However saying that, it’s something that you just ignore once you see the view and hear the lake waves. There was ample parking for our multiple vehicles, and the maintenance man was very helpful with respect to our cardboard boxes and tending to the lawn and letting us know that he was there. Which was very nice. We would definitely stay here again for our next trip to Traverse City.

Adult getaway weekend

3 adult couples for a wine/brewery fall weekend. GREAT place to stay!!! Had everything we needed and was in the perfect location. Had the weather cooperated, would have definitely spent more time at the outdoor bar. Looking forward to coming back!

4th of July

We had a great weekend on the bay. The views are incredible. We were pleased to find out that there was a nice sandy area for the kids to play although it does get rocky quick so you’ll want water shoes. We were able to moor our pontoon in front of the house which was also a plus. My only complaints are cleanliness - the dining table was dirty and it seemed like the cleaning process was rushed. Also the pictures in the listing are confusing. We expected an upstairs and a downstairs with 2 living areas however the indoor space is all on one level. It was a little tight with our 8 guests but we made it work. The outdoor bar space is phenomenal and great for a group of friends. Overall we had a great time.

Awesome Traverse City Cottage on the water

This place is absolutely beautiful and amazing!!! It’s on the water with kayaks and chairs to sit on beach with your feet in the water. All the amenities you can imagine. We will return!!!

Best stay ever!

I have been traveling to Traverse City for 20+ years with my Mom and my 7 aunts. This was our first stay on this property and it was absolutely amazing! We kept commenting all week on how clean it was! We loved all of the outdoor space. The lower deck with the bar and bathroom was a fun spot to hang out. Kayaks and paddleboards were fun in the morning! The upper deck for morning coffee and to sit by the fire table at night was awesome. The location was perfect as we traveled to Suttons Bay and Leland to experience Fishtown. We already booked this same property for next year (before we even left). Very close to downtown Traverse City which we plan on exploring next year. Thank you so much for a great time!

Perfect View and Perfect Location

Our family enjoyed being on the water and the beautiful views. We took out the kayaks in the morning, searched the rocks for treasures, and relaxed and enjoyed the view. The house was close to everything. We would definitely stay here again.

Incredible Traverse City Getaway

The property was clean and exactly as advertised. The back deck and patio beach area are amazing. I can't imagine a better set up to spend a summer day on the water. Communication was simple and smooth, will definitely be looking into coming back.

Great view of West Grand Traverse Bay

Good rental house. The view the West Bay is really spectacular. Easy drive into Traverse City. Several wineries are very close to the house.

Beautiful views close to wineries.

Overall a nice property. Good, prompt communication from host Ky. Clean with gorgeous views of Bay. Surprised that the fabulous lower deck is accessible only by outdoor steps. Unfortunately cool wet weather limited our use of that cool space. Our biggest issue were the swarms of fruit flies. The few dishes of vinegar that were placed around did not even touch the problem. Ky said this is a “seasonal problem.” Have not experienced this before. A brand new TV had been installed (box was still in drive) but updated password info was not provided. A bit of frustration and a few phone calls solved the issue but could have been handled better. Football fans were missing their game!! We managed to have a great few days in spite of this. Overall give this VRBO a high rating.

Great Location, Great Views

The location is great because you are away from the main traffic of the city, therefore, you don't have to deal with the congestion. Because you reside on the main highway, prepare to leave the driveway quickly if you are driving during rush hours. The house was clean. The kitchen was well laid out so that we never had to bump into each other while cooking. The outdoor grill was in good shape and large enough for the family. Beach views made the entire trip for us. To see the sun come up and then wade into the water for an early morning swim made this house a great place to stay. Access to paddleboards and kayaks with the rental is also a huge benefit. I would definitely come back.

This place is great! Perfect location, perfect view! The owner is on point! The Keurig wasn’t working, and I let her know. She picked one up at the store and dropped it off the next day. That is something that will never be forgotten! Do not hesitate to book this place!

Great trip

The location on the water cannot be beat with beautiful sunrises every morning. The outdoor areas are fantastic and well appointed. The lake is rocky so bring water shoes if you're so inclined. All of the amenities in the house were great with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Kayaks, paddles, and life jackets were available. The Leelanau/TART trail is a quick 2.3 mile drive to the Cherry Bend Road Trailhead so you can safely bike/run/walk instead of facing the traffic on 22. The traffic can be a bit loud if you're a light sleeper but there are fans available to help block out the road noise. We had a great time and would highly recommend the property to anyone looking for an amazing, relaxing vacation with a quick drive to town.

Bachelorette Party

This house is an awesome house to stay at, especially for the bachelorette party we threw there. The crashing of the waves was sooo nice to hear at night (especially when you are used to hearing planes and trains at night). Such an awesome place to stay and even better you get your own private beach.
