Wonderful experience, great location

We really enjoyed our stay. Mathew is a wonderful host and his description was exactly what we received. The sailboat itself was an older boat, but had what we needed. The location and having a dinghy to tour around was what really made this for us. This is exactly what I would call glamping, nothing fancy, but an experience we really enjoyed.

Fantastic!

We had the best time on the boat. Just as advertised. Communication with host was great. He was unable to be there for our visit but arranged for a representative who took care of us. Boat was in good condition and we enjoyed days exploring with the provided dinghy. We had beautiful nights under the stars on deck of boat. Would book again.

The best accommodation in the Exumas??

Matthieu was such a gracious host. He worked with our group on our individual needs and always greeted us with a big smile and a 'hello hello!" The boat setup is very similar to a glamping setup, so it is not for the faint of heart. We are backpackers and sailors so this was home sweet home. The location is beyond ideal and there is a sweet sea turtle who lives in the cove and greets you on your ride to the beaches in the morning. Couldn't have asked for a better setup or location. I believe this is the best accommodation in the Exumas.

Sailboat bliss

Excellent location with great host , communicative and accommodating. Mathieu met us at the dock with our dingy and escorted us to the boat . It is moored in a lovely bay right across from a restaurant for easy access . This stay is a great way to explore all the beaches and islands exuma has to offer and meet wonderful locals. If you love boats and glamping then I recommend this wonderful adventure

Sailboat glamping

Had a wonderful relaxing stay. The area is absolutely stunning with clear waters and beautiful beaches. Well protected year Isolated. We saw many turtles swimming near the boat, and even a mana ray breach the surface. Know what to expect before staying on board. This is a sail boat in the middle of the water, no dock, limited power and water. As boaters we were prepared for boat life on the “hook”.But

Glamping in Exuma

My wife and I spent 4 nights on Mat's boat and had a great experience. The boat worked well for the two of us, the location was perfect, and having unlimited access to the dinghy provided opportunity to explore the area around Stocking Island. We recommend spending an afternoon at the newly opened Coconut Beachclub for good food, drinks, and music. Dinner at the Snappy Turtle was convenient and quite good. Mat was a great host and took us to explore the Lazy River South of Stocking Island which is a stunning remote part of Exuma worth visiting. Although we are dry land hotel people with not much experience living the boating lifestyle, 'roughing' it for 4 nights on the water was memorable, something we'd do again. We spent our last night at the Peace and Plenty hotel before departing the island which worked well for us.

A Unique Experience

This was our first time being back on a boat in the Bahamas in 30 years. Being in our mid seventy’s we were wondering whether we would find it comfortable but because our hosts, Mathieu and Marc, everything worked out nicely. Both hosts were very personable and could not do enough for us. The dinghy was large and easy to start and allowed us to explore the area. The hosts provided water whenever we needed it. Although the boat was not a luxury yacht, it satisfied our needs. The location inside a well protected harbor on a mooring was ideal especially since we had some bad weather where other boats dragged. If you are sailors, you’ll know what a 1990 30’ Catalina is all about. If you’re not a sailor, you will enjoy the accommodations. Any inconveniences being on a boat are greatly outweighed by the gorgeous location, the inclusion of a dinghy and the helpfulness of the hosts.

A great place to stay!

My husband and I loved our stay on Mathieu’s sail boat. The boat was very cute and intimate. Mathieu was very attentive our entire stay, the use of the dinghy was amazing!! We had several very nice dinners due to the freedom of having the dinghy. It was a great new experience and we are so happy we booked it.

Paradise

We stayed on a boat in Exuma, just across from Chat ‘N Chill, and it was a unique and memorable experience. The island is beautiful, with opportunities to swim with stingrays and explore sandbars using the provided dinghy. It was our first time sleeping on a boat, and it turned out to be a cool and neat adventure. Mathieu was fantastic, checking in regularly, making sure we were comfortable, and answering all our questions. Highly recommend this for an unforgettable stay!

Scam- not the boat pictured!

The most important thing I must state; the boat we were given to stay on WAS NOT THE BOAT PICTURED. My negative review is addressing the fraudulent posting."Jay" or "Matthiew" has several boats in this harbor. buddies stay on them when guests do not. We were instructed to use the toilet "not at noon" as the sewage is being ILLEGALLY dumped into the bay. "Everyone does it". I have been a boater, I know how this stuff works. I also go camping, I can handle roughing it. Some amenities were exaggerated, or not existent. We tried staying the first night and when we left in the morning, he did give us a dinghy ride to the new place we had to book. On the way back, he even showed us the actual boat in the picture. His poor communication did not apply to making excuses and lies.

Amazing experience!

Great place to experience the Exumas on the water! It was such a treat to wake up on the water every morning and take in the beauty of Elizabeth Harbor. Staying aboard Mathieu's boat was such an adventure and something different than staying at a hotel. Defiantly a must do for someone looking for a different experience! Mathieu was very attentive during the whole stay. Always there whenever we had a question and even offering to go into town and get us a few basic things from the market. Would recommend in a heartbeat!

Amazing!

Mathieu is a Top Notch Host! He showed us around the area and was enthusiastic to take us to snorkeling spots and private sand bars. Having the freedom to use the dinghy and go where ever we wanted was key to the adventure and exploration of the area. Mathieu's boat was so very comfortable for 2 people. The V berth has an added foam mattress pad and the hatch above allowed a nice sea breeze all night long. Highly recommend this VRBO host and boat! you can't go wrong.

Exceeded expectations!

A comfortable boat in a beautiful setting was all that we expected but our experience was so much more! Mathieu, our host, displayed attention and caring that was exceptional. Safety and our comfort were paramount. He moved the boat to a calmer harbor, offered tours of the area and also made sure the galley was stocked with the essentials+ when we arrived. It was a return to the friendly live-aboard life I experienced years ago...a dream come true!

Great stay on Exuma Sail Boat

My wife and I had a great stay on Mathieu's boat. He was responsive to any needs and very pleasant. The boat was in excellent condition as was the dinghy that was supplied. The motor ran reliably and allowed us to travel to George Town for supplies and to explore the many isolated beaches in the area. If you've never spent time on a boat or operated small watercraft this may not be the right listing for you. But if you like the idea of a bit of privacy in the open water and being able to create your own excursions, look no further! Pack light and have a great stay!

Great Unique Experience

Great experience on Stocking Island. Boat was a great change of pace and most definitely a unique experience. Mathieu made sure I was taken care of with the help of Marco, and that all my needs were met. Marco went above and beyond and was a fantastic help. Made sure I made the most of my time and really helped take me on some fantastic experiences throughout the island. Would definitely recommend. Only note I'd make is be prepared for bugs. Granted these are all over Exuma and the island, so nothing new and you're not escaping them. I just didn't think much of it going in being on a boat. (which was on me) Matthew had bug spray, candles, etc. and was well prepared.

Just What We Needed

My 14 year old son and I visited for a week over spring break. It was one of our most favorite trips yet. We LOVED taking the dinghy out to explore, especially near sunset. We jumped off the boat and swam to the beach which was about 5-15 ft away depending on which direction the wind rotated the boat. We say stingrays swim underneath and a sea turtle would cruise around the area. We saw 2 dolphins come and go from the little bay. Our favorite snorkeling spot, “mystery cave”, is a 2 minute dinghy ride. It’s tucked back and is just breathtaking. We ended up not doing as many activities as planned because we were so content to lounge on the boat. The gentle rocking and continuous breeze were incredibly soothing. We’ve never had such restful sleep as we did on that boat. It’s not luxurious but it has all the basics you need for your stay. Mathieu is more than helpful and is there in a heartbeat if you needed anything or have any questions. He is the most attentive host I’ve ever encountered. There are a few little restaurants that are close by. We ate dinner out almost every night, and some lunches. The people are incredibly kind, and we felt safer there than we do in the states. Not once did we get spooked or feel uncomfortable. Everyone is helpful and smiling. There is an incredible sense of community throughout the island. If you have a sense of adventure, I highly recommend you visit and stay on the boat. It a one of a kind trip. We are dreaming of goin back..

“It’s the Boat Life” is the Best Life

If you’re up for an adventure, this listing is for you! We met Mathew at Exuma Markets in George Town where we grabbed some groceries and booze. He took us on his dinghy for the ~10 minute out to our home for the next few nights - a 30’ sailboat moored just off Chat n Chill. It’s really not far, so don’t worry about making a thorough grocery run. We got enough for a day or two. He showed us around the boat, which we needed since it was our first time on a sailboat - but don’t worry if you forget anything. He lives close by and is always happy to help. The galley is a well equipped “camp kitchen”, which we found to be perfect. The location is incredible and the dinghy was one of our favorite parts of this VRBO. You can hop over to the Snappy Turtle, Chat n Chill or Peace & Plenty in two minutes - all great food and drink options. Aside from food, Stocking Island has some great hiking trails and some remote beaches - we literally saw no people for four hours when we went hiking on the ocean side. Mathew helped us fill up the dinghy and gave us some guidance on getting to Moriah Harbor Cay, which isn’t a ride for the feint of heart - we may be new to 30’ sailboats but we have sailing dinghy and powerboat experience. There’s some “open ocean” and it takes some skill to navigate the sandbars, but we were up to the task and it was worth the beating we took. Our only complaint is that we couldn’t stay longer. Mathew is incredibly attentive and we would love to come back!!

This was the most amazing and unique experience. Glamping at it's absolute finest. Mathieu is a great host. He is an avid boater and has thought about everything. You'll have everything you need on the boat. We were a bit worried about seasickness and even in rougher than normal waters, it wasn't bad at all. Both my wife and my brother's wife were able to sleep well and not feel sick at all despite getting motion sickness regularly. The dinghy was also perfect. It allowed us the freedom to move around. The boat is in the perfect location only a stone's throw away from Chat n Chill (one of the best beach bars you've ever been to) on one of the most amazing beaches you've ever seen. Try to stay there on Sunday. Chat n Chill does a pig roast on Sundays and it's a great atmosphere. You'll get to feed the local stingrays conch and pet them. They are incredibly docile and used to humans petting and handling them. You can take the dinghy into town to Peace and Plenty, tie up at their boat dock, and have a great dinner. You'll also be able to visit perhaps the second-best beach bar you've ever been to "Da Sand Bar" on Starfish Beach (again, one of the best beaches you've ever seen). These are just some of the cool things to do. But don't worry, your host is a professional and he'll point you in the right direction. He also knows the locals very well so you'll have easy access to a rental car, etc. Book this amazing property and don't look back. We again for sure!!

Epic Adventure!

This was our first trip staying on a sailboat and we didn't really know what to expect. It was so worth it and we would do it again! With calm waters at the boat's location and a cool breeze blowing in from the open hatch above your cozy bedroom, it made for an easy night's rest. We loved the freedom of cruising the crystal blue waters on the provided dinghy, to some of the most beautiful nearby beaches and sandbars. It's crazy to pull up on a beach and be the only ones there!! Host - Matt and Daniel were awesome! They had great communication and were always helpful, when needed. Couldn't ask for more!Sailboat - The two main hatches have nets to keep the bugs away. Citronella candles by the table. VHF 72 channel on the radio at 8am for boating info and the happenings around the island. (Turn on navigation /communication button on the panel). WiFi worked good. Spotted eagle rays passing by the boat. Very cool! Ladies, there isn't a "normal shower" on here, but if I can do it, you definitely can too! Eating - Snappy Turtle. (Eat here BEFORE dark due to pesky bugs. Happy hour from 3-5 with half price drinks and wings. Pizza is delicious!) Beaches - Sand Dollar, Starfish, Man-O-War!! Very rough ride to Jolly Hall. Skip it.Close to Exuma Market and a walk around George Town.Book it! You won't regret it! Matt, thank you for sharing this piece of paradise and welcoming us to your home away from home! We'll see you again!!

What an amazing and unique experience

You don’t need to know anything about boats or boating since Mathieu is an amazing host and avid sailor, boater, and host. This is my second time staying with him on this boat. He really has thought of everything. He’s also always available to help you if needed and he lives in a boat nearby. This is a sailboat not a hotel room. Don’t expect the amenities of a hotel room. Think of this as more of a glamping experience. You have all the basics though including WiFi, fresh water, and toiletries. The location also couldn’t be better right next to an amazing beach and chat n chill - one of the best beach bars you’ll ever go to. All in all, this is an amazing experience and I highly recommend staying here if you’re looking for something differed and exiting.
