We were a group of nine ladies for a fifth birthday. We had plenty of places for people to sleep. We enjoyed floating and hanging out at the pool. One night we had a great time around the outdoor fireplace. Plenty of seating. Having a second fridge/pantry area was very useful. One night we were fancy and hired the personal chef that they recommended and had a fabulous dinner in the dining room.

Beautiful location, lovely house and kitchen, plenty of space. Would have appreciated a print out of the house and area information so everyone could easily review it and the lack of supplied firewood was a surprise to everyone.Nice hikes and parks nearby, a day at Harper's Ferry Park was really nice, thanks to the Governor of West Virginia the Welcome Center was staffed and so helpful.

The property is in a beautiful setting and is a unique historical home. The bathrooms need upgrading and the entire house needs a deep cleaning as well as more attention to detail regarding decor- lots of mismatched furniture and random decorative items. We had to pay extra to have 10 people ( even though the listing states it sleeps that many), however, one of the showers was not operable and although the property manager was responsive when we reported it there was no compensation offered.Would definitely return to the area but not to this property unless improvements are made.

Wonderful stay in Virginia wine country

The house has its unique character that is hard to find and is very spacious even for a large family. Almost 300 years of history add to the charm of the whole place. The surrounding land is beautiful and well maintained. Walks in meadows and around the pond were very relaxing. Our hosts were friendly, responsive, and caring. We enjoyed every minute of our stay.

We stayed at an historic house which wasn't being kept up. Indoor railings were loose, some furnitre (tables weren't steady. There were flies everywhere which apparently they knew about as there were 3 fly traps in the kitchen! One of the upstairs baths didn't have a shower curtain so we couldn't use that one and there was a spider and web in the tub. The pool which should have been cleaned weekly was green on the bottom when we arrived so we didn't use it until the next to last day when the pool cleaner arriver. He said it was done weekly but we didn't think so. Lastly and most importanly there was a leak in the 2nd floor bath laying on the window sill and soaking the floow. When we called they said they would take care of it when we left to put towels down! On the last evening there was a torrential rain storm and the wall in another 2nd floor bedroom started leaking water right down the wall like a waterfall. Also in the stairwell where we put a pot and towels. We called and they said they would take care of it again when we left. We didn't really expect them to come out in the rain but there was no apology or accounting for these leaks which they probably knew about. Thee were water stains on the ceiling so it had happened before. I emailed when when we left and no reply other than to ask for a 5 star review. Don't go there unless you're open to taking care of any problems that arise yourself!

Great house

We had a fantastic stay at the property. The home is very charming and the pool is great. The location was also really nice. Close to wineries and hiking. Two points of feedback are that the dishes were visibly dirty upon arrival and all of the mattresses need to be replaced. Everyone in the group slept poorly and noted that the mattresses were uncomfortable. The master bedroom should likely also have a larger bed.

Check in was smooth. Rooms were adequate. Kitchen not truely conducive to cooking a lot of meals . Drawers disorganized and hard to fine correct cooking utensils. Pool was nice with towels and float included. One bedrooms HVAC made noise constantly. Wraps were finding a way in. But overall we enjoyed the location.

Historic Farm House

Amazing setting, great pond for fishing, beautiful pool. Does not have a gas grill or outdoor grilling area. Lovely fire pit area, but you will need to bring your own wood. Kitchen is nicely appointed, but could use a Keurig. Plenty of room for a large family or families. I would recommend.

Beautiful home

This house is amazing as is the property. We were very comfortable here. Very peaceful. My only issue was the $$$ cleaning fee. The pots had to be washed due to cob webs. We had to strip the beds and pile the towels, take all the garbage out to the cans and load the dishwasher. What exactly does the $ fee cover?

Country home in the heart of wine country

The location was great and the property manager was very good. Unfortunately it was in February and it was 25 degrees outside. The house was very cold, and there were alot of bugs looking for warmth as well. Perhaps during the summer with the ability to use the pool, would make our experience better. I would give it another try!

Overall our stay was very nice. We had two families spending a few days getting away from the city. The third floor shower/tub was not working upon arrival but the plumber (who we did not know was coming) did repair this quickly. There was a bit of a fly problem on the third floor however bug killer was likely used just before our arrival, so there were 50 or so dying flies in the tub and around the toilet in the third floor bathroom, however there was not a fly flying in the house, so win win. What is not advertised is the ongoing work for the tasting room sharing the same driveway as the house. There was construction equipment as well as building supplies stored around the house. The construction generally started at 7:30am, but workers arrived at 7. Generally work was done by 6 most nights. The grounds needed some upkeep. Last summers flowers and grasses were still present is some disarray, and spring flowers were starting to come up in the middle of them.Overall the beds were comfortable, the house was generally quite clean, especially for the historic age of the property, and it is set in a very quiet, and private area. We would have liked to have been apprised of the construction before hand. We spoke with the owner who was under the impression we had been notified, but posting “Tasting Room on site - opening May 2026” does not automatically suggest the property is a construction zone.

Stayed here for three nights with 4 others. The grounds and the home itself are more worn down than the photos online portray. While quaint and fascinating in some respects, it is an old, historical home in need of renovations and more upkeep. We took issue with all the bugs in the house, the cleanliness (my aunt had to re-wash her bedding because it looked like someone had slept in it and the coffee maker was dirty inside, for example), and the lack of AC. The second and third floors have split AC units and they did not work well. The owner gave us instructions to troubleshoot, which involved resetting the breaker, but we felt they should have offered to come help us. Please note that as of April 2026, they are building a tasting room next door (this is now listed in the posting). The first evening of our visit, the construction workers were there working on the roof until 8:30pm. Apart from some noise, there are no window dressings on the second and third floor bathrooms, we were hesitant to shower. To their credit, the owner did remedy this on day 2 and we didn’t have any further issues. Generally speaking, the owner was good at communicating and took our concerns seriously, though I personally wouldn't stay here again. If you like a more rustic feel, then you’ll probably really enjoy this.

Thank you for the detailed feedback — I’m sorry your stay fell short of expectations. I appreciate you noting our communication; we take reports like yours seriously. A few actions we’ve taken since your visit: - Cleanliness & pests: we replaced the windows on the upper floors as the old windows had gaps that let bugs in and no amount of pest control was helping. The old windows were charming but not exactly air tight! The new windows are helping a LOT with the bugs. - AC: our HVAC tech has serviced the split units and we’ve clarified troubleshooting steps for guests - Noise: the outdoor construction of the tasting-room next door is now complete, so further interior work will be much less disruptive. The tasting room will be complete by June - Property condition: this is a historic, rustic home and we’ve reviewed our photos and listing copy to ensure they reflect its character while continuing routine maintenance and targeted renovations. Thank you again — your comments help us improve for future guests.

Nice place to stay

This house was very nice. I reported that the cleaners did not do a very good job of cleaning. The coffee pot was filthy and the glass on the doors was also dirty. The rental company offered to have the cleaners come back to take care of those things but I told them I would handle it. The AC on the1st floor worked well. The inverter AC's worked very well in the bedrooms on the second floor but the 3rd floor was a different story. Both of those inverters blew hot air. There was a window unit in the bedroom that kept the room a comfortable temperature. The rental company was quick to respond to me with any questions or concerns. All in all I would rent the house again.

Delightful Property & Host, missing grill & good matresses

Our family had a lovely stay at Buckskin Manor. The house, pool and grounds are magnificent! The owners were good communicators- and very nice. However , we love to cook, and there is only a small charcoal grill- there is a wonderful outdoor pizza oven but no instructions for how to use or where extra wood might be. We used 4 beds and all of the guests felt the mattresses weren’t up to the standard of the house at all—(no one slept well) the pool is delightful!

Lovely Retreat, Worth a Repeat!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Buckskin Manor. It's a lovely historic home that we found clean, spacious and well equipped. Stayed during a heat wave, but remained cool in the house and spent most of our time in and around the amazing pool. The grounds are great for roaming and observing all the flora and wildlife and could be stunning with a little more regular TLC (owner is working on that). Close to Harpers Ferry for water fun on the Potomac River and close to many wonderful Virginia vineyards. Communications with the manager Priya was excellent before, during and after our stay. A few minor issues were resolved quickly. Would definitely love to stay here again!

A historic Virginia treasure

I can only imagine the upkeep needed on a house that's almost 300 years old. But Buckskin Manor's owners are doing it beautifully and we are lucky to have them share that diligence in maintaining it with those of us they allow to rent it. We had an amazing, relaxing week at the property. Our kids loved the pool and all the space to just run around and let their imaginations run wild. The gorgeous outdoor space was perfect for play for the kids and relaxation for us adults. The small screened porch off one of the bedrooms is the perfect spot for your morning coffee. The entire house has an abundance of comfy nooks to curl up and read your latest book. We also loved how close it is to numerous wineries and breweries with great food. Loved the house and felt so lucky to get a week there. Thank you, Priya!

Just Beautiful!

The house was really cool and beautiful inside and out! We stayed with another family and both adults and kids had a blast. The pool was super fun and the scenery was breathtaking. We went to one of the vineyards and the brewery and went hiking to a lookout overlooking historic Harpers Ferry. Everything was close to the house. We had the best time! Priya was very attentive through messaging and I would definitely recommend staying here.

I have a group of girlfriends that get together every summer for a getaway. This trip was our 7th getaway and it was fantastic! The house was clean and comfortable, the pool was a respite, and the proximity to the wineries made for easy day trips. We had a blast!

Beautiful historic farmhouse with modern amenities. Booked to spend time with family and friends that we had not seen since the pandemic began. Aside found lounging around the pool, we explored the local attractions - farm breweries, wineries, historic villages, hiking trails, and /Harper's Ferry.
